oh so am i better of with having twin turbo? i also have heard that there something called turbo lag you mind explain it to me? and what are some ways i could prevent that from happening if thats possible?
@urdaddybitch100 Turbo or Twin Turbo is the best solution when you are trying to make the most power out of a force feed power-adder .. yes.. Anyone with a turbo setup that has lag is because they did not size the turbo to the engine/heads flow rate, lag is cause when the turbine does not have enough exhaust volume to spool the compressor at low rpms, there is a turbo for just about any size motor, if you built your setup right lag is the last thing you would be thinking about.
@urdaddybitch100 supercharge, robs power and put too much stress on the crank and pulley system, not a good idea when trying to make the most power with little loss ..
@DIENAMICProductions Well Matt has the fastest known v6 mustang .. he run mid 9's @ 138MPH, however I do have the world's fastest v6 mustang Vert.. and hoping to hit 140MPH in the 1/4 this season .. so yeah I may endup with both titles :)
@700hpV6 I think you could powershift to keep the turbo spool if you had a transmission that could take it. Keeping the gas pedal floored and shifting quick enough to where the rpm's dont over rev.
@downonit22 That’s not how manual transmission works, no matter how you drive or shift a manual transmission, it will always drop “load” don’t matter if you can keep RPMs up, “load” is what keeps the exhaust pressure constant/high, reason is manual transmission has to release the gear its in before it can engage into another gear; there is simply no way around that, hell that’s why it’s a manual transmission ..
@downonit22 Also remember you can have higher RPM without “load” thus even when you power shift your RPM in some case increases, however “load” drops the moment one gear is disengage to engage the other gear, thus re-spooling and timing curve changes has to take place for every shift a manual transmission makes thus time loss ..
Again Turbo power-adder and Auto transmission is the best combination for drag racing
if you are into the best ET, but yeah manual transmission is more fun to drive!
@700hpV6 Hmm, so a slap shift (Sequential) transmission would be the best of both worlds as long as it had a dog gearbox. You would be able to tune the gears for better timing, and all you would have to do is shift at peak HP right? I know quite a bit but I'm still learning hahaha
@downonit22 Nice idea, however a real Sequential shift transmission like the tiptronic’s are much better than the old dog ring tech, the dog ring tech will hold load however will also hold back acceleration during shift and until the previous gear is release, there is just no way to replace free continuous transition shifting, hell the only transmission technology that is better than the old auto tech. is continuously variable transmission, But CVT’s can’t support too much power right now.
I'm doing a turbo set up on my 94 3.8 with a cam and bolt ons, im thinking of running a single GT45 turbo with an inter cooler at around 20-25 lb boost.
my question is do i have to rout the exhaust through the cats before the turbo or can i just run it through the turbo than the cats. I live in NY so I have to pass emissions testing. ps i also have ported and polished heads
i have a 2000 base model that im wanting to start working but im kinda low on money due to only being a freshmen in college. ive been able to find some things to start working on it but dont know much on the side turbos (superchargers) for the v6 engine. ive worked on 4 bangers in the past but never v6s any tips?
thats interesting that you can swap the internals of a 4.2l to your 3.8l. i did the same with my 99 4.0l wj. take the crank, rods and cam off of an old amc 4.2l and youve got yourself a stock looking 4.5l stroker with 270hp and 330 ftlbs.
sweet car btw. and ill bet it beats similar modded v8s simply because its lighter
@Scibbyz8999GRC yes the F150 4.2L is the same "block" as the Mustang's 3.8L just with diff. internals .. Thanks and yes .. v8 with equal power but heavier runs slower ..
yeh i got 98 v6 stang and i was wondering some mods to put on it..i have a cai and was thinkin maybe a new throttle body but ive been told to build the car from the inside out not jus add hp..ne ideas?
So is that motor you have a custom crate or what ??? how much would one run me to get it exactly like yours ?? i already have a suspension kit so i think the body could handle it
Well I guess you can call it a "crate" motor as it was ship in a "crate" from RPM to me :) but yeah its not a "crate" motor as what we know as "crate" motor, its a stock 3.8l block with forged internals for a 4.2L with a stock 4.2L crank .. built by RPM .. SSM also built motor simpler to mine that is good to about the same about of power ..
Well TMA does not built TT for the 05+ just yet, I plan to get a 2011 for him to make a TT for the 2011+ we plan to put the new ecoboot motor to its limit .. that motor should be good to 500rwhp stock ..
you can do just about anything .. the stock 98 motor is good/safe to around 300rwhp thu.. any more and best to have a basic built motor from SSM .. will support upto 550rwhp easy, for more safe power a well built 1,000hp motor can be done, check out Phil motor build on v6power . net
same here man i got a 98 V6 mustang i got a intake i got flowmasters on it im getting a BBK strut tower brace and im going to change my transmission oil im putting Royal Purple in it i recommend it to all mustang owners
hey 700hpv6 im planning to do some good shit on my car , i have my 3.8 mustang with some modds, do you think i should swap my 3.8 engine for the 4.3 ? i dont really wanna change the engine so i can get more power cuz i want to show that the 3.8 can make some good power aswell.
the stock 99-2004 3.8L is good/safe to a max of 330-340rwhp with a perfect tune, so yeah you can make some nice power with the stock motor, I push my stock 3.8L to over 380whp for one full season then upgraded it to a 4.3L remember the 4.3L is a stock 3.8L with just the F150 4.2L crank and bore over 60th with matching piston/rods
thanks bro you just made my day 330-340yeah i can go with that,it sounds quiet good for me ha, hey thanks for accepting my friend request man, hey when are u gonna break into the 9's ? cant wait to see it .
very welcome .. yes I was looking to run 9's this year but crzy work load this year killed my racing season .. hoping to be in the mid 9's next season..
BTW you can also save some money on a built 4.3L motor, mine has CNC ported heads that cost alot, you can get hand ported heads for $800 and a built short block for $3k, around $4k total for a built long-block 4.3L with hand ported heads.
bro i have mad questions, does a ford f 150 truck engine that same block as the 3.8? and if that then i would be able to bore out the 3.8 to a 4.2 and put f150 pistons in? i wanna do it incredibly cheap like f150 parts from junk yard. since cash for clunkers is not in play anymore theres many f150 trucks with decent mileage. get back to me if you can give me some info to help me out.
Yes all 3.8/4.2L RWD blocks from 99+ are the same, to make a 3.8L in to a 4.2L you do not born out anything, all you need is to put an F150 crank in the 3.8L block to make it an 4.2L, so yes in away the F150 4.2L is nothing more than a 3.8L block with 4.2L crank with matching piston and rods from the longer stroke, hope that help best to post up over my forum
Its funny how a Porsche 911 is a 6 cylinder and Toyota Supra is a 6 cylinder but yet them cars gets respect!! when the mustang v6 motor has more displacement (3.8 to 4.0L stock) with a block that is just as strong!! not to mention NASCAR ran v6 for years b4 going v8 .. Hell if a Porsche 911 TT $150k car can run a 6 cylinder, why not a mustang? most people just talk BS to make them self feel better.
What do i search on HPM? I am looking for more details so that I can get an idea of where to start.. Thanks oh and its a truly beautiful machine you have made!!
Did you get the intake ported? Cuz I know supersix sells specific intakes for v6 boosted cars might give you a little extra juice and their not to pricy.
yes .. my car is built with only parts from RPM Redlined Performance Mustangs .. upper and lower intake is ported heads are CNC ported by Roush performance .. car is now making 709rwhp @ 20psi with a very soft tune on 93 pump gas ..
f thats a soft tune whats the most you ever pushed out of this baby? im a v6 mustang owner myself and tired of hearing people dissing on the v6 mustangs. wanna rub something in their faces :) and get a idea of what i can do.
as of my last tune back in April @ MM car made 698wrwhp @ 20psi with a soft tune on 93 oct. pump gas, going back for a c16 tune at 20psi hoping for a solid 710rwhp SAE
dood, do you mind if i send you an email, got 2004 mustang v6 convertible same color cept my top is black. i need to know EXACTLY what you did and a general price range. Im trying to do the same shit.
Hey My name is james i'm building up my V6 mustang an right now with out the twin t70 turbos i'm running 400hp an i plan on stroking it like you did with yours but i was wondering how do you run the oil lines ? an how do you hook up the boost controller ?
the MF are straight thru type muffler, and I don't have any backpressure .. I have dual 3" independent dump .. good for 2,000hp .. I am only making about 900hp at the crank ..but you are correct, I made 535rwhp at 15psi with the old v1 TT setup with dual 2.5" dump with cats and 611rwhp @ 16psi with dual 3" dump without cats.. so yes all my back pressure is gone now as is.. Thanks :)
Yes turbo setups definitely do have a lot of backpressure, why do you think people run straight thru mufflers, and/or dumps on turbo cars? And glasspacks don't sound gay they actually would sound pretty good on a car like this.
I ran at ETown on Oct 17th .. I am very happy to say .. I only made one full pass and right out the box I ran a 10.6 @ 133 MPH with only a 1.798 60' .. going to work on my 60.. but from the MPH this badboy got 9.9's wating to be had!!
i have a v6 stang and hoping to make it better and i now i can make it better dan a v8 and want to know where did u get all that performance.i like my v6 and i would spend a lot of money on my mustang ..so wer do i get all dat..???
Lol this cars a fail Built ur motor but ur cars Gona break at high speeds throw some some more cash in it lol shoulda just gotten a v8 :D

@JulianEckstein first you need a built motor .. 94-98 3.8L v6 motors has major head gaskit issues,
best to buy a built forged 4.2L 99+ split-port motor and swap that in, once you have a solid motor then
drop in a GT35 or GT42 .. the 3.8L block can't take more than 1000hp GT42 can make it out, as for
emissions, you are not going to make much power if you plan to run cats.. in NY all 1996+ only need to
pass ODB2 (ODBII) testing .. good luck!

dude you would probably free up about 40 horses if you went to a glasspack straight thru type muffler. It would release a ton of back pressure.
oneshotkill324 3 years ago
the MF are straight thru type muffler, and I don't have any backpressure .. Thanks :)

how did you hook up the wastes gates with the boost controler , in with the turbo kit ?
an where does the out let line for the turbo's oil drain line go ?

go to hpmustangs, com and you'll see pics and vidz of my setup ..

Turbo motors don't have alot of backpressure to begin with and a glasspack would sound gay anyway.
bpowersman5000 3 years ago
Yes turbo setups definitely do have a lot of backpressure, why do you think people run straight thru mufflers, and/or dumps on turbo cars? And glasspacks don't sound gay they actually would sound pretty good on a car like this.
