  • Well, your timeline video was great, it made a lot of sense. Since i first played Legend of Zelda, i just assumed that the different games are more like different versions of the same Legend, i guess that's what Nintendo's intentions was. But still, the timeline theory is great, i look at the whole thing differently now.

  • OOT -> Majoria mask obvious timeline...

  • Put my name on the petition

  • How pre-written...Yay for Nintendo trolls :D

  • The truth hurts :((((

  • "...there isn't a true frame of reference or timeline possible for the series." Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? *facepalm*

  • fyi - I quit playing Zelda games when they went to the DS. I am sorry but it was kinda clear that they plain out gave up on Link and starting to use him as a 2nd Mario. In 10 years I can see Mario, Sonic (poor Sega...) and Link being in the same Mario Party-like game. Hell Sonic already in them, Link is next sadly.

  • At least there are games that totally fail at making a timeline (didn't know their games were going to be so successful) they gave enough damn to care about the fans and at LEAST try to fix it and patch things up. Arena and Daggerfall of the Elder Scrolls series are seen as abortions by most of the lore fans and even the creators but Morrowind and on they fix things little at a time and try to make it fit.

It sad to see games only want money and willing to destroy the story inside out but meh.

  • you should have sent it directly to miyamoto not some random guy that speaks for him.

  • I need to tell my friend about this, weve been trying to make a time line for a long time, now!!!

  • Yes, originally there wasn't any timeline. They simply made something knew again and again, sometimes referring to poast Zelda games, sometimes not.

And now? 25th anniversary? Skyward Sword?? They took a timeline out of the blue, using the split theory, and even made it worse!!!

    TRIPLE SPLIT!!!

    dumbshits -_-#

  • Put my name in

  • I think they are trolling

  • @TheSADVeeto lol yep. Skyward sword is a prequel to Ocarina. sorry nintendo but if that letter is real its obviously bullshit because nintendo intended on telling the story of the master sword

  • @TheSADVeeto Fuck yeah

  • I knew this from the start. If they had a timeline they would have put the games in order.

  • Not having a story kinda ruins it for me lol

  • Nintendo doesn't even know their own creation. Fail.

  • Nintendo is an idiot! Zelda needs to have a timeline or else it would be all confusing about who is who and is there one zelda or about 20 different Zeldas put my name on the petition and tell Nintendo I said screw you you idiot designers!

  • Just...wow. After seeing videos and proving by myself if these timelines were right, in which after making my own arrangements I get the same timeline as you (I'm just a new fan of Zelda games, so it's pretty much obvious that I want to know the timeline of the game). And then I get this...SCREW YOU NINTENDO! STOP DOING SENSLESS STUFF AND GET THIS THING DONE! OR AT LEAST GIVE US A POKEMON 3RD GEN REMAKE, NOT SOME STUPID HANDHELD CRAP!

  • The timeline is just a big mystery and it is meant to be unsolved. Is like saying who created god

  • umm there is a fucking timeline! HELLO!! Skyward Sword starts it! man

  • I no that your original time line was old but they released skyward sword for wii and the skyward sword is the master sword and as you explained in one of your recent videos that the valley game(I forgot the title) you say that it is a sequel to twilight princess and that the sequel to that game is wind waker so the kokiri blade us not the master sword or the skyward sword it's just a sword

  • screw the zelda timeline

  • hey dude if it any consolation, i live and brethe legend of zelda and the timeline my lil bro and i figured out is the exact same as urs! hell we go by that timeline wen we play the series now!

  • Which Nintendo did you send your video to? If you sent it to Nintendo of America, you're wasting your time. They are essentially the localization team and are in the dark. The true gaming developers who may have the answers that you seek are housed in NCL, Nintendo Corporation Limited, in the land of the rising sun. NOA are as in the dark about Zelda continuity (or lack therof) as the rest of us.

  • Awful lot of people calling the theorists idiots for believing in a timeline from just last week. Weird, considering the official timeline was released a few weeks ago.

  • *your timeline is great, I agree with your arrangements of it

  • Yupu

  • obviously they wouldn't have a true timeline because new people could take over the company and change the series 5-10 years later its just not possible but you can always make a theory up and some make sense

  • theyre stupid cause they recently just made a time line...

  • ok i new i just commented but just to set thing straight......Links ancestor is Link.Link is trying to save the world like his ancestor,Link.its kind of confusing but yeah

  • A.......new.......Link.......each.....time.................so i basically drove my self crazee trying to beat OoT just to find out i die any way so it really doesnt matter.

  • GRRRRRR! I hate nintendo so much for this. Their games are awesome, but theyre reallly ignorant. I mean they thought they could pawn us off with a cheap poster if you pre ordered Ocarina of time in the US

  • Word of God right there. All you Zelda fanatic nutjobs can shut the fuck up with your timelines now. They were, are, and will continue to be canonically irrelevant to each other, for the most part. Go focus your obsessive natures into something worthwhile.

  • if nintendo make a mega history whit all its fucking zelda games..... i will play every zelda game without stop (sorry my bad english)

  • missiongeek(DOT)com/articles/2011/12/22/nintendo-reveals-official-zelda-timeline.html

this is the "official nintendo zelda timeline".

"its interesting but when matched with yours it looks as if nintendo slapped

a bunch of zelda titles together and called it right. try resending to nintendo

and lets see what they have to say now about your timeline. maybe instead

of taking a sec to look at it and send a preset message they will fix their

own timeline rather than throw stuff together."

  • sing me up and see my zelda vidios

  • sign me up!

  • sign me up

  • calm down mate...

  • Explain Skyward Sword Nintendo yeah

  • @TheWaffleMania omg did you watch the video? it says that there is NO timeline?

  • @zlachlan13 and they also say that SS is the pre-story from all the other Zeldas. That's what he wants to be explained.

Well Maybe they already changed their mind as the vid is from 2009.

  • @5tingr4y SS is the prologue because it is the start of the master sword and because zelda stays down in hyrule not in the sky

  • zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline#Official_Hyrule_Historia_timeline

  • NINTENDO LIED!!!!!! There is an official timeline!

  • @TheRocker502 where?

  • i like how Nintendo released the official timeline, and your was wrong XD

awh and you were so cocky and douchy about it too XDDDDDDD

oh well, look who made a jackass out of theirselves

  • this reminds me of the time i sent a letter to an author, and when i got a reply, i got a prewritten letter that was just basicly trying to persuade me to go on schoolastic's website

  • guys, stop hatin nintendo

they're the ones who freakin made legend of zelda!

  • READ THIS IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE TIMELINE

The timeline does exist. My proof: in Twilight Princess, in the house by the fishing hole, there are a series of pictures. If you look to the picture at the bottom left, there is a picture. It is the man from the fishing village in Ocarina of Time. It reads.. "A legendary fisherman.. I wish I was from that era." This is PROOF that the timelines are somehow connected, Nintendo is just bullshitting you with a pre-written letter!

  • @Pianoasis they already released a timeline....

  • @Pianoasis I am a believer in the timeline. This letter is bullshit, since the Twilight Princess game is a response to the timeline theory gaining so much popularity. Fucking Nintendo...

  • What i think is that the legend of zelda is just that. A legend. Maybe the only timeline that exists is skyward to ocarina to majora. Or

Maybe there isnt supposed to be a timeline? Just my opinion.

  • I'm a huge fan of the entire series but, dude, you're a douche.

Who the hell do you think you are to force Nintendo to change course? The series is amazing, get over yourself. Just because you're not in control of the timeframe as you wish it doesn't diminish the amazing games themselves.

Get over yourself (and your annoying voice only made this video that more annoying).

    Douche.

  • The making of skyward sword was already going on at the date you posted this video if miyamoto said that skyward sword began before ocarina of time , there has to be timeline .

  • honestly if i was nintendo i would have done the same thing internet flame wars bring in extra moolah!!! cha-ching!!!

  • "Help us change Nintendo's mind". Who gives a shit ? No Timeline ? Yeah, so what ?

  • @Tubulamarok wtf are you doing here if you dont care?

  • @stfuimpaul I'm looking for Zelda. Have you seen her ?

  • well it doesnt make since because skyward sword is supposed to be were the master sword was made sooo it would be a timeline

  • wwwdotdestructoiddotcom/the-official-legend-of-zelda-timeline-revealed-218437dotphtml

    official timeline :p

  • Anouma has a file on his computer that is the actual timeline. He said that he didn't want to release it because of gaps that would make fanboys refuse to buy games until those holes were filled up. Apparently, the timeline has been released, so my info is a little outdated. There is an official timeline, however.

  • I like Zelda, but you nerds and kids waiste too much time trying to make a timeline.Nintendo will realese one when they want to so shut up and go back to your life.

  • I like your "re-written" message better.

  • @SadisticEmoRockChick for getting links awakening

  • Why is a time line so important?

  • This theory kinda get's F'd in the ass by s.w.s

I like to think, personal opinion, that the creators are "correct" when they tell us that there are no timeline - It's the LEGEND of zelda, not the history of zelda - Also, as the begining of Wind Waker states, "one of many" (can't remember the exact words :S) -

My point is this: There are MANY legends, not just one - Yes they have alot of the same essences, but in the end different stories - I would love a timeline, but there is non - for now

  • i'd like to see a Zelda title set far in the modern future..... i think it would be pretty bad ass.... like Epona could be the name of Link's hover bike and the Master Sword could have an energy based blade or somethin........

  • You guys do know that Aonuma said they had a timeline, but, wouldn't release it due to the fact that they would have less freedom over when/the plot of new games. They enjoy the flexibility of a movable timeline. We'll get a timeline, when they stop making Zelda. Which will hopefully never happen.

  • @5000cam Yea, they said that they like to keep it a secret around the office

  • Sadly I regret to tell you that s.w.s kinda messed up your time line it as to go first now

  • Hey, I am a BIG fan of Zelda and theory behind it. I think that there are links between each game. Now don't hate on me, I'm a split-timeline supporter. I think there is a fundamental problem in your logic. Just think about it, if you worked for Nintendo, you are in the business of fun. If they sent you back a letter saying your theory was right, think about how much fun you would be preventing. The thing is, if they release an official timeline, a lot of the fun may be taken out of the game!

  • Ok either way right or wrong it was still pretty cool and many of those had pretty good facts so rather right and/or wrong still dont lose hopes man.

  • Whoops! iPads don't have annotations. :(

  • Add me to the list, I am DJRyan8.

  • Dude, you need to realize that making youtube videos about what you theorize doesn't mean your theory holds any more ground.

  • To those who saw my last comment:stop sending replys understand what is going on it's my friend who posted that comment i have explained it to him

  • You sound like a conspiracy theorist. Sometimes things just aren't complicated. I would love a deep, intricate continuity for the Zelda series too, but I know that Nintendo isn't going to provide it. Coming up with it on my own is the next best thing, though, if not more entertaining.

  • why didnt they just TELL US THAT ON THE BACK OF EVERY NEW GAME!!! LIKE MAYBE IF THEY SAID IN THE SYNOPSIS "A new link rises against evil" IT WOULDNT CAUSE SO MANY BATTLES!!!! DAMN IT NINTENDO

  • You should be honored that you even got a response. They obviously watched what your video was about, otherwise they wouldn't have referenced the split-timeline theory.

I personally think leaving things up for the interpretation of each player is good game design. It'd be much less interesting if everything fit nicely together, and it would make it hard for new players to be introduced to Zelda.

I do believe there is a timeline but I don't think the details should all fit perfectly.

  • now you need to add skyward sword before ocarina of time

  • i think you where right and nintendo was wrong

  • @BryGld Right, Nintendo is wrong about the very game they created. Nice thinking there.

  • Thanks Nintendo, you ruined our fun...

  • nah there is just way too much proof they that there is a timeline, there keeping it to themselves, so many references in skyward sword like the end of the game, you know what im talking about, what demise says about reincarnations and what fi say's about meeting in another life, (windwaker) evreything comes together it all has too.

  • There is a new link every game? Then why was link in mm looking for a friend (navi) that he lost in a different adventure. Seems like the same link to me

  • @kkkGLUBkkk *sigh*

  • @kkkGLUBkkk For that matter, what about wind waker and phantom hourglass? That's a direct sequel! (not that oot-mm wasn't)

  • LMAO awesome!

  • Nintendo made a timeline with the Release of Skyward Sword.

  • There is a timeline! Legend Of Zelda: OOT Then Majora's Mask! Link is on the search for navi! This is a theory. Dont be a dick and say fake and gay

  • i heard that the person who kept the list was hunted down, kidnapped, and killed by nintendo for messing around with timelines. don't fuck with nintendo folks.

  • @khushrenada Yes, well I just most certainly read a lie :) considering nintendo would never do that. Didn't your mother teach you that spreading rumors was bad?

  • lol did they really say those stuff at the end

  • i think you got scewed over by a non timeline fan pretending to be nintendo

i don't think nintendo would say 'scew you'

  • @JKMlive they didn't say that... that's what they should have said.

  • @JKMlive they didn't say that... that's what they should have said instead of that boring 3 paragraphs.

  • @JKMlive errr he basicly just restated what Nintendo was basically telling him in harsher terms.

  • @JKMlive wow you're a dumbass. He quite clearly prefaced the last paragraph with "They COULD HAVE just told me ..."

  • I wish to join. Me and a friend have also put together the timeline. I am quite disapointed that Nintendo would not play with it.... if they realized that the timeline attracted gamers, why didn't they just play with the idea of a timeline? I WANT A ZELDA TIMELINE! Let's save Zelda!

  • Miyamoto has said that in Nintendo HQ there is an official Zelda Timeline

  • The writers of Zelda must be pulling out their hair!

  • They just don't want us to know by now.

  • There is a timeline Nintendo is just being a dipshit -.- because right after ocarina the mad majora's mask where you became like 2 more years older so Nintendo is lying :(

  • Wowowowowow Nintendo. WOW.

  • To be honest that's what I always thought, that it was just a bunch of different stories with some of the same character's.

  • Add me onto the list my name is MrAwesome171717. I think that you got a very good timeline.

  • me 2 :-D

  • I have to second what Nintendo said. Other than Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Phantom Hourglass having to be the last in the time line, you can play the games in any order and think of whatever timeline you want.

  • I disagree with the "no timeline" statement. Your timeline video makes more sense than any other I've seen and its Rock solid

  • in the end of ocarina of time you get sent back as a kid so there is no adult link therefore no adult timeline but idk its just my opinion.

  • honestly the name gives it all its a legend and as legends do they change, in my opinion this could possibly be just storys about different links such as nintendo did say and that altough the timeline probably doesn't exist (because fans thought way to much of this then the original creators) though i do say theirs no timeline what about the connection between skyward sword and ocarina of time? that must mean their is sooome timeline but not such complexity.

  • Let me on that petition! If anybody thinks that Legend of Zelda is anything less then awesome, they're idiots.

  • Get me on that petition! :D

  • Put my name on that petition

  • I think they just didn't want to tell u that they actually do have a timeline, since it's supposed to be secret.

  • well as long as they dont change Link's character design and stuff im okay with it unlike the reboot of devil may cry Dante looks like shit!!! (u know what i mean) juss keep link

  • NINTENDO MAKE A ZELDA TIMELINE OR I WILL SUE! ZELDA IS MY FAVORITE SERIES BY YOU DUDES, IF YOU DON'T MAKE A TIMELINE, YOU MUST DIE AND LET THE FANS COME TO POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i got the same response from nintendo as you did about my time line theory. they really screwed us all over lol well i think its good to know than to not know that there is no legit time line but i think yours is the best out of all the once ive seen thank you!!!

  • So even though Phantom Hourglass takes place maybe a month after Windwaker, and includes the exact same characters, story, and Tetra says "How are we going to convince anyone you saved me?", and that's not the same Link? What the Hell, Nintendo?

  • hey dude ocarina of time has a sequal with majoras mask so they have to have a timeline if every game has a new link then how would they be the same link? maybe they have something planned to further the speculation for the timeline and links story

  • get over it man, nintendo just wanted to make games, not a confusing timeline for the fans, but ya it sucks that there isn't technically a history of the link franchise

  • Nintendo has twice said there is a time line originally stating it had to do with the split time line then it was denied and they started saying what they said to ocarina hero, that there is no timeline. Now as of recent with the release of skyward sword they are saying it is a big possibility. So i think it's a possibility. Nintendo is probably now just debating to either release an existing one or create one with the obvious evidence or they will be bitches and do shit.

  • zelda timeline= troll fuel

  • PLEASE can someone say what is the name of song which begins at 2:03???

  • @MrSarmaftw sounds like a metal remix of "Deku Nut's Palace" from Majora's Mask.

  • Yea add me to that list

  • hay, if all these people say f*ck nintendo, why would still play zelda? they made it. there is a timeline. i wouldnt say this is the correct one.

  • Mr Eligi amo or what ever is an idiot saying that " oh all games have a dirfant link and there can't be a timeline" and besides you even had people form nintendo week ( if you do own it or if it the America nintendo or if you even own it at all) know that ales ocarina of time and maroas mask is the same link and wind waker and phantom hourglass are the same atles so ocarinahero64 you can use my name because it seems like by that message that you know more of legend of Zelda games than nintendo

  • your letter is fake, MR Eiji Aonuma and MR shigeru miyamoto had stated in an interview that there was documented a timeline that is obviously confidential and for the time i dont think it will be revealed soon, because they want to create speculation in fans cause it makes you feel such a big interest and passion for the game is obvious that theres a timeline from skyward sword to wind waker, may be one day theyll reveal a timeline but for today just enjoy the games and wait for skyward sword

  • I do like the idea that each story is a legend, told by different people at different times, about this great hero who defeated a sealed evil being, where they use their own cultural assumptions and baggage to influence the story.

It would almost be interesting to makea meta-timeline in which all of the cultures telling these myths and legends were created based on the evidence in the games' settings, foci, and assumptions.

It would also be wild, baseless speculation and headache-inducing.

  • @HollowGolem i agree that is a really cool way to look at things since their are so many cultures and races in the Zelda world that you would think they would all tell the story of Link a bit differently.

  • Hah, drink that burn sauce you fucking fanboy.

  • fuck nintendo nintendo owes me 1:45 mins of my life back

  • for fucks sake people, this shit was in 2009,we in 2011

how long does it take to make a zelda timeline . . . . . A FEW FUCKIN HOURS

    the entire year of 2010 they could've made one,bottom line,there IS a documented timeline . . . . NOW

    so stop it

  • THERE IS A TIMELINE. FUCK YOU NINTENDO. Take all the fun away. pfft >_> A timeline would make it so much more interesting. (not that the Zelda series is not already amazing. it just adds to the whole basic storyline. which in my opinion makes it 10x more amazing.)

  • Add the names Brandon Shockley, Michael Hughes, Alex Miller, and Kelton Shope to the petition

    Thanks

  • no timeline?!?!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They're just saying that any timeline is a matter of opinion. Personally, I agree. For example, in OoT, the way I see it is that after the end (after Link is sent back to the "child" time), he leaves Hyrule for seven years. Three days worth of this are represented in Majora's Mask. After the seven years, Link goes back to Hyrule, draws the Master Sword, and the events of the Adult portion of OoT occur. That's how I see it.

  • There has to be some kind of a timeline because in wind waker, the boat said that the hero of time, after saving hyrule, traveled to another land (which was termina). This also disproves the idea that there's a different link in each game, because the link of ocarina of time must be the same as the one in majora's mask. And Niko in wind waker appears as link's roommate in spirit tracks.

  • @pikmin937 The Link from Majora's mask is one and the same, but majoras mask is mearly contenueing his story and what he did returning to his time. Besides the link from wind waker has his own family. Link has a sister and grandmother. so it does not disprove that there is differnt links.

  • Wow WOW!! NOOOOO!!! NINTENDO HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US!!! :(

  • this calls for a miyamoto scream MMMMIIIIIYYYYYYYAAAAMMMMOOOOOTTTOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • Wait no offical timeline FUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • wait but i remember reading somewhere that Miyamoto said that there is a document of the true timeline, however they decided not to release it because they wanted fans to attempt piecing it together themselves

  • This is probably too late, but my codename is SuperLukey3. I sign up for the petition.

  • God nintendo is me and they steal hedgehogs ( the sonic seris) why nintendo teel them to watch it until they do

  • LIES! FREKIN LIES! Must.. resest... urge... to... shoot screen... wait, they said skyward sword was getting into the creation of the master sword... someone punch whoever wrote this letter in the face for me...

  • Love your letter version.

  • lol "screw you"

  • there is a timeline that nintendo dont want to share because why would there be sequels and prequels to the games anyways?

  • Something else too. Spirit tracks takes place in new Hyrule, as hinted at at the end of WW. (Spoilers, look away if you haven't beaten Wind Waker yet!) At the end of the game, Tetra (Zelda) says that link and her will find a new Hyrule. (End spoilers.)

  • If anyone else here decides to edit ocarinahero's timeline or make their own, remember this.

1: Spirit tracks takes place 100 years AFTER Phantom Hourglass.

2: Skyward sword will take place centuries BEFORE Ocarina of Time. This means that Skyward sword might be the only game in the LoZ series that is not affected by a timeline split.

I found these out, by doing some extensive (accidental) research.

  • I believe in you, your video made way to much sense to be fake

  • ntusasn "the text color changed"

  • that can't be true. some games make show obvious clues that they are related to other. example: the wind waker --> the room where you get the master sword is filled with colourfull windows that depict the sages, and those sages are clearly the ones from ocarina of time, namely: Rauru, Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Impa and Nabooru. don't tell me that they just coincidentally look similar. i still believe in the split timeline theorie, and yours really makes the most sense.

  • >:(

    Why, Nintendo, Why?!

  • Put my username on the list, definately.
