surely if we can agree to categorise cultural traits as british, even if they are things like, the antique road show, stephen fry (tradionalist aspects) with other things like sport rivalries, 'cockney ryming slang' etc (common aspects of sub culture) can we produce a contempoary, if even illigitemate consensus on britishness. This consensus may be something to hold onto, and while appearing isolationist/anti intergrationist, to go to say that all of these things are no longer relative is wrong
