Riccardo Broschi is one of the few original late baroque composers I have heard.

He was insanely talented and It's a shame that we never got to appreciate more of his works.

What a remarkable difference between this voice and that of a Baroque singer such as Maria Cristina Kiehr. Kiehr sings with voci bianché, whereas Genaux has a very pronounced vibrato. A very "acrobatic" aria that, I am sure, is not easy to negotiate.

No, this aria is not a recording from film, here the singer is Vivica Genaux.

In the film, the voice is a mix of Eva Godlewska and Derek Lee Ragin.

...the thing with Celine Dion .. I am never sure what sort of emotions she is having..Is she wondering how her Hair Looks?? With Vivica I am never wondering....her emotional expression is direct, visceral, real, and I listen to her again, and again, and again...I have listened to Celine twice in the last eight years because the son of my best friend has played her on vinyl twice....and Celine is a good person actually....she just needs to take lessons in music and voice from Vivica.
