  • i play rugby league and i dont say shit, but at the end of the day id rather play rugby union than soccer.

  • could anybody else get away with calling it the 'dead ball arena'?

  • league has great players but union is a better game to watch and play i reckon

  • you never get athletes like inglis in union, thats why league is 10x better

  • @tomisback94 LOL are you kidding me, we have kurtley beale, digby ioane, lachie turner, whilst the only athletic involvement in rugby league is running away from the cops after a bar fight

  • @whysocereal7 alright mate kurtley beale and digby are good but lachie turner? please someone like akuila uate would embarrass him. get back to me when union has players like inglis, uate, tony williams, hayne, hodges.. the players i just listed would walk into a wallaby team, i mean look who who the wallabies have now - ashley cooper, lachie turner, drew mitchell oh please there is no comparison

  • @tomisback94 lol rugby league is such an easier sport than union, thats why hayne and inglis look so good. if they played union they wouldnt even make the national team. look at sonny bill williams, he was a star and considered one of the best rugby players in the country, but when he made the switch to union. his reputation went down a notch. rugby league is for people who think theyre good. if people like shane williams played league, they would tear the whole competition apart

  • Idiot!

  • Kinda knew to the world of rugby. It looks awesome, I don't know the difference between league and union. Just really fun to watch.

  • Sorry guys. Gareth Edwards could eat all 26 of you for breakfast

  • this is league, not union. it's barely better than football.

  • Isn't that supposed to be a knock-on? o.O

  • @netspider86 errrrr noo? it went back?

  • @eddrulz3 No I mean the first time he touches it, around 1:21

  • @netspider86 nah because he caught it again. fair point

  • @eddrulz3 Doesn't the ball need to be held to be considered "caught" and therefore not a knock-on? It looks more like he's just swatting it backwards without having firm possession first. (I'm basing my comment on a personal interpretation of the rules though, I don't know the exact wording!)

  • @netspider86 it never touched the ground or an opposing player therefore no knock on.

  • @nugngi Ok, I thought the rules stated something a bit different :)

  • first of all its league, and league is a pile of shit

  • This is a brilliant try, absolutely brilliant but please fix the title of the video.

  • not the greatest but good

  • "A leaping australian" like a leaping kangoroo LOL

  • There just taking it in nothing special then boom

  • it cant be the greatest try ever, its rugby league??

  • what a top try ;) made by the mighty mark gasnier

  • Why does this scarf-knitting contest contain the word rugby in the title?

  • auzzie auzzie sucks sucks sucks

  • go the kiwis

  • Hahaha damn that way epic.

  • gareth edwards 1973

  • good, but greatest???

  • good try and good conversion

  • shit101

  • Booooo, Go New Zealand!

  • Have none of you seen Gareth Edward's try for the BaaBaa's? That's the greatest try of all time.

  • @flashash2k9 of course we have, its an exceptional try for Union, but not for league: check out the video Wide to West, St Helens try v Bulls which has 8 passes and a kick to the 6 passes in the BBs try. BUT the Baa Baas are an exhibition side, whereas this try was the semi final of the SL playoffs AND time ran out, so the outcome of the game depended on whether Saints scored or Bulls took the ball dead, either way game over. So intense pressure compared to the BBs try.

  • awesome. the dislikes will be from whinging kiwis. I'm an Aussie in NZ and believe me, they whinge more than the poms.

  • @mikeyj780 ...Not even close to your cricketers though.

  • Go NEWZELAND

  • This is rugby for women.

  • how dare they

  • What the fuck is wrong with REFEREE!!!?

  • haha its gay!!

  • this is league dumbass

  • Retarded kiwi 1:31

  • Kirkpatrick to Williams. This is great stuff. Phil Bennett covering, chased by Alistair Scown. Brilliant! Oh, that's brilliant! John Williams, Brian Williams, Pullin, John Dawes. Great dummy! David, Tom David, the half-way line. Brilliant by Quinnell. This is Gareth Edwards. A dramatic start. What a score!

    Enough said.

  • wasnt even a try-over the dead ball line

  • this isn't even rugby, go home

  • im a maori and support nz but at league aus is in another league than us we just fluke our wins

  • AWESOME!!

  • and he's won the triple jump

  • @hello892188 It's rugby LEAGUE you dumb ass ... If you played rugby you'd know that

  • in 2:48 i didn't see any rugby.

  • Childish comments from the Rugby Union elitists. I love all codes of rugby.

  • well if u want to claim this as being the greatest try then us kiwis will claim billlies melt down at the world cup is our greatest try remember ...

  • it's not that good..

  • 13 men...or 15 men...

...I think we all know it's either this one:

    youtube.com/watch?v=AwCbG4I0QyA&feature=related

    Or this one:

    youtube.com/watch?v=jTwTi-UeQ7s&feature=related

  • OK PEOPLE, starting to get a tad po'ed with people saying this isn't rugby... now i'm not 100% sure but i know RUGBY SEVENS when i see it :P it's pretty much rugby for backfeilders, or people who just really really love rugby, now stop saying it's not rugby

  • I play rugby for my school and this isn't actual rugby because there are no rooks or scrums and hes standing up when hes held down which is a foul.

    Gr8DaysOutUK

and by the way u prick rugby is better than soccer or cricket dickhead!!!

  • i have no fucking idea what's going on here but it looks awesome

  • its austrailian foot ball

  • rugby league is stupid

  • holy poop that was really cool :p but it tolk them long anuf to get to the end zone :p oh and ummm someone i talking about rabits?????? lol

  • where do you buy these microwaves which record images?

  • not literally the greatest try ( in my opinion) but that was incredibly smart and good quick thinking to do that!!

  • should have specified it was rugby league. what a colossal waste of my time

  • Utter shite.

  • I somehow suspect, whoever uploaded this video doesn't watch too much rugby of either code!! I very much doubt, that it would rank in a 'Top 500' let alone 'Best ever'!! (Funniest perhaps, maybe, possibly...... Nope, not that either!)

  • For >20 years I have lived with the guilt of irreparably damaging someone’s life.

Playing rugby for the school, I got annoyed with a teammate, so stamped on him in a ruck. My studs dented the side of his skull & caused ‘minor’ brain damage- he left the school & never returned. Fortunately no-one saw me & they assumed it must have been an opposing player.

I still see him shambling about town, sometimes greeting me with his slow, laboured speech. Confession is no option- what good would it do?

  • shugby

  • the commentary is pretty epic in this video too!

  • How people can watch this stop-start rugby amazes me

  • @MrMrDubs you want stop start rugby? watch a game of union then ... penalties, scrums restarts etc. league is actually such a faster game

  • @tomisback94 sorry are you a retard? stop start rugby? yeah.. so let's sort that out and stop the game when a tackle happens and then start it again a couple of seconds later.. thick cunt

  • How can it be the 'greatest rugby try' there seem to be four players missing.

  • @drgs100 You realise there are 2 codes of Rugby, don't you?

  • @z0mgrugbyreturns I've heard the rumours...

  • @drgs100 there not missing, the toaster had to blur them out.

  • League is so gay and boring now, it used to be good when 80 and 90,s were foul play was pretty much allowed

    Union is the best

  • @StonedAssassinNZL oh cause someone being knocked out by a swinging arm is good? maybe you should fuck off to your shitty little boring union, and don't come the fuck back

  • @GriefOrNoGrief HAHAHAHA league is run it up 5x then kick thats FUCKING BORING, back when there were legends like Gary Freeman , Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga, Terry Lamb etc it was entertaining and brutal as hell

Watch a 1985 NZ vs AU test match nothing gets better, But you wouldnt know being a lil british battyboy who doesnt know SHIT

  • This was the gayest try ever ....

  • no try as he did not catch it and the ball fell to the ground in front of where he first knocked it forwards, so he was not in control of the ball. otherwise you could run the length of the pitch hitting the ball forwards up in the air and provided the last touch was backwards, it would all be legal.

  • @TheMartinwild in any code of rugby, a player can juggle the ball before he catches it...i.e. if the catch is not clean, but made without it hitting the ground or another player it is fine. The rules of rugby league stipulate that the ball cannot be INTENTIONALLY hit forwards and regathered, but if it is a legitimate juggle, in an attempt to catch the ball its fair game. The ball was fairly batted back to gasnier, who gained control and put it down. Fair try

  • @thamagnet16hotmail thanks for the comments re intent, I went a bit off course with the deliberate juggling!. the essence of the play is that he juggles the ball twice, once forward once back, the net result being that it hits the ground about a metre in front of where he first knocked it forward. If he had hit it back behind where he had first knocked it forward, agreed, its a try. but taking the juggle as a whole, it was a knock on. If he had control of the ball, he would have scored the try

  • this is rugby league

  • what the hell is rugby even about???

  • @lpz777 "The main scheme is to work the ball down the field somehow and deposit it over the line at the other end, and that, in order to squelch this programme each team is allowed to put in a certain amount of assault and battery and do things to its fellow man which, if done elsewhere, would result in fourteen days without the option, coupled with some strong remarks from the bench." (PG Wodehouse)

  • The try was unreal and to make it better the kick comes along

  • No try right?

  • I am also a union guy but i agree that was f***ing awsome

  • Not even rugby it's rugby league, and I reckon a few people will have other tries they rate.. However I got to see this game live and to see it happen well... Greg Inglis is a freak of the game no doubt there!!!!

  • freakish kick aswell

  • maybe not the greatest try ever but definitely the greatest try assist ever

  • Myxomatosis, indeed

  • 240p we meet again

  • 240p.. We meet again -.-

  • @asiankidBRO Are we meant to give you thumbs up or something?

  • @MoogleMySenses um. i didnt say anything about thumbs up.

  • It wasn't a knock-on because he caught the ball himself before it touched either the ground or another player a great example of this is Brian o'driscoll's forward pass to himself (look it up)

  • @CatManUtdFC Then whats stopping someone from just batting the ball forward and up into the air basketball style and then re-gathering it? As long as it doesn't touch the ground or another player ...

  • @bongo155 it just depends if its intentional or not. If its a legit attempt to gather the ball and you fumble and re-gather and it doesnt hit the ground then its fine. Thats the case in league at least and im pretty sure union too.

  • How is that legal? The ball went forward before the guy jumped and batted it back in...

  • NZ at league this year :(

  • @NinjahThekiwi na they are just always shit

  • @benbehere2 Agreed.

  • inglis should of been the center for the aussies in the world cup

  • ausie cock suckerz fukn get over ur selvez that was just a fukn fluke man shut the fuk up matilda n dance with ur billi bong

  • why isnt that a knockon? is it cos its in the try zone??

  • @nagga123456789 when did ball touch the ground? :/

guy lost ball, regathered it and dropped it backwards...

  • I am not really into Union vs League debates. Both are great sports and I just love them.

Athletes in both sports are very skilled!!

  • @JakeIsCOD i liked it :)

  • Amazing athletic ability and presence of mind!

  • I love both codes but union is like the chess, leauge is like the checkers...

  • Pure luck really but it goes to show you never give up even if the ball is floating outside the playing field. Not a bad try but fairly ordinary for a one man try. Tries where the whole team work for it and from 100 out are far greater than this one.

  • omg did you guys not here ?There is no such thing as rugby league :O

  • not true

  • Comment removed

  • @samanfar rugby league - run get hit run get hit , then knock on. rugby union - hard hit, quick ball, back moves, create space .. try. and the rugby league players arent as skilled of as fast as union. so shut your filthy gub

  • HOLY SHIT

  • load of cobblers! johnathon davies's try for great britain against the aussies was the best there was but all league games are just glorified crash ball and for six tackles its a case of i got the ball and u cannot have it union is far the greater game

  • load of cobblers! johnathon davies's try for great britain against the aussies was the best there was

  • flash of f***ing genius

  • @repelghosts shut up you small weiner. Rugby is a great sport, wether its sevens, Union, League or touch, although I prefer Union.

  • this fucked up ball sport is for idiots with 5 inch cocks...that i will always rememebe

    r...Gemma

  • @repelghosts Whaaaa?

  • nz world champs at both codes, u mad?

  • I play union and i remember watching this try but i always thought it was in Union, until i saw this, epic try !

  • Rugby union....scrum kick penalty, scrum kick penalty, scrum kick penalty!!

  • What is the NRL Australian team?

  • @awaak the Kangaroos

  • @Monkeymandoomteller that's rugby league you doosch its not girly so shut the hell up.

  • shame it isn't actually real rugby, just some girly fail-game.

  • @monkeymandoomteller are u talkin bout that game where they play like soccer? kick the ball every two minutes

  • haha g.i just got lucky but it was good thinking giving it a go, still this is not rugby!!its rugby league!! and yes new zealand are the world champions at this sport as well

  • Who ever that Guy..Should be a triple jump Champ !

  • league sucks

  • ben babarbas try was way better than that

  • Its funny because New Zealand still won that tournament

  • I like league and union. Best party of league though is that players determine th outcome rahter than the referee. In Australia we have oif club football sides that display massiveluy superiour Rugby football skills to may most of the world footbal sides - and they do it week in week out - ever seena try like that in Union - mybe but i have lots in league. When it come to Rugby football - the Aussies are numero uno!!!!

Quuensland vs NSW is the resl world championship on rugby football.

  • Well,we all know who the best team ever newzealand

  • The greatest rugby try ever.......... o wait its league im not gonna watch it

  • @MrPSY8 it is a lot harder than it looks

  • Forget bout it being league this is amazing

  • THIS IS INTERESTING

  • holy crap.......

    what a try

  • i'm more confused on how he scored that conversion

  • Wasn't the touch that almost knocks it out of play a knock on?

  • @ArestoManifesto

na i dont think so. in union anyway, you can fumble the ball forward lke that, once you catch it yourself, which essentially is what he did before passing it back behind him

    wow... what a try!!!

  • @ArestoManifesto

na you can fumbel the ball forward like he did once you catch it yourself

  • i dont understand what just happened. i need to educate myself on the rules of rugby cuz this looks like some fun shit!

  • im a union guy, but fuck that was good!

  • Comment removed

  • Only in league will Australia where maroon and blue

  • @jozo030 it was a commemorative jersey

  • refer to watch?v=AwCbG4I0QyA

  • Union or not.. This is a great try!!!

  • u stupit

  • union !!!!!!!!!

  • prefer union but that is an awesome awesome try

  • gay rugby league union besssttttt

  • I thought I was gonna get to see John Kirwan's try against Italy in 1987, but I guess not. Regardless, this was a pretty good try, haven't seen much of league so I don't know what to base it on, but that right there (the handoff to Gasnier) was nothing short of spectacular :)

  • hehehe was the header meant to be Rugby League...lolz

  • it was good but it is league so it was shit

  • This play is so dirty that I switched to porn when my mum walked in

  • solid try!

  • Well, If I'm not mistaken it would not have been a try in Union.

The Australian player misses his first catch, this "throwing" the ball forward, catches it and passes it back. But in Union you arn't allow to throw the ball forward, accidently or not...

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty damn cool, anyway. I know next to nothing about league.

  • @LarS1963 nah its legit - you can accidentally hit the ball forward in union so long as the ball doesn't contact the ground or another player. It's not a knock on provided it's not intentional

  • @LarS1963 You aren't aloud to in league either, it's just that the NZer punches the ball at him and the call is made that rather then him knocking it forward the ball just hit him and went forward...

  • @McKenna654 Oh all right. Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately rugby is a minor sport in Denmark, people preferring football, so I don't get to follow it a lot.

  • That's very cool (even if it's league).

  • Did you know that rugby league was a game that broke away from rugby union cause as it was made for people who could not afford to go to hospitals if they got injured...........food for thought

  • @13gareyj Actually league was invented to pay its professional players..... and alot of union players at the time switched to it......

  • @Darkcorner07 No.....At that time league was implemented because the competitions could not cover pay for peoples injuries....
