@tomisback94 LOL are you kidding me, we have kurtley beale, digby ioane, lachie turner, whilst the only athletic involvement in rugby league is running away from the cops after a bar fight
@whysocereal7 alright mate kurtley beale and digby are good but lachie turner? please someone like akuila uate would embarrass him. get back to me when union has players like inglis, uate, tony williams, hayne, hodges.. the players i just listed would walk into a wallaby team, i mean look who who the wallabies have now - ashley cooper, lachie turner, drew mitchell oh please there is no comparison
@tomisback94 lol rugby league is such an easier sport than union, thats why hayne and inglis look so good. if they played union they wouldnt even make the national team. look at sonny bill williams, he was a star and considered one of the best rugby players in the country, but when he made the switch to union. his reputation went down a notch. rugby league is for people who think theyre good. if people like shane williams played league, they would tear the whole competition apart
@eddrulz3 Doesn't the ball need to be held to be considered "caught" and therefore not a knock-on? It looks more like he's just swatting it backwards without having firm possession first. (I'm basing my comment on a personal interpretation of the rules though, I don't know the exact wording!)
@flashash2k9 of course we have, its an exceptional try for Union, but not for league: check out the video Wide to West, St Helens try v Bulls which has 8 passes and a kick to the 6 passes in the BBs try. BUT the Baa Baas are an exhibition side, whereas this try was the semi final of the SL playoffs AND time ran out, so the outcome of the game depended on whether Saints scored or Bulls took the ball dead, either way game over. So intense pressure compared to the BBs try.
Kirkpatrick to Williams. This is great stuff. Phil Bennett covering, chased by Alistair Scown. Brilliant! Oh, that's brilliant! John Williams, Brian Williams, Pullin, John Dawes. Great dummy! David, Tom David, the half-way line. Brilliant by Quinnell. This is Gareth Edwards. A dramatic start. What a score!
OK PEOPLE, starting to get a tad po'ed with people saying this isn't rugby... now i'm not 100% sure but i know RUGBY SEVENS when i see it :P it's pretty much rugby for backfeilders, or people who just really really love rugby, now stop saying it's not rugby
I somehow suspect, whoever uploaded this video doesn't watch too much rugby of either code!! I very much doubt, that it would rank in a 'Top 500' let alone 'Best ever'!! (Funniest perhaps, maybe, possibly...... Nope, not that either!)
For >20 years I have lived with the guilt of irreparably damaging someone’s life.
Playing rugby for the school, I got annoyed with a teammate, so stamped on him in a ruck. My studs dented the side of his skull & caused ‘minor’ brain damage- he left the school & never returned. Fortunately no-one saw me & they assumed it must have been an opposing player.
I still see him shambling about town, sometimes greeting me with his slow, laboured speech. Confession is no option- what good would it do?
@tomisback94 sorry are you a retard? stop start rugby? yeah.. so let's sort that out and stop the game when a tackle happens and then start it again a couple of seconds later.. thick cunt
@StonedAssassinNZL oh cause someone being knocked out by a swinging arm is good? maybe you should fuck off to your shitty little boring union, and don't come the fuck back
@GriefOrNoGrief HAHAHAHA league is run it up 5x then kick thats FUCKING BORING, back when there were legends like Gary Freeman , Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga, Terry Lamb etc it was entertaining and brutal as hell
Watch a 1985 NZ vs AU test match nothing gets better, But you wouldnt know being a lil british battyboy who doesnt know SHIT
no try as he did not catch it and the ball fell to the ground in front of where he first knocked it forwards, so he was not in control of the ball. otherwise you could run the length of the pitch hitting the ball forwards up in the air and provided the last touch was backwards, it would all be legal.
@TheMartinwild in any code of rugby, a player can juggle the ball before he catches it...i.e. if the catch is not clean, but made without it hitting the ground or another player it is fine. The rules of rugby league stipulate that the ball cannot be INTENTIONALLY hit forwards and regathered, but if it is a legitimate juggle, in an attempt to catch the ball its fair game. The ball was fairly batted back to gasnier, who gained control and put it down. Fair try
@thamagnet16hotmail thanks for the comments re intent, I went a bit off course with the deliberate juggling!. the essence of the play is that he juggles the ball twice, once forward once back, the net result being that it hits the ground about a metre in front of where he first knocked it forward. If he had hit it back behind where he had first knocked it forward, agreed, its a try. but taking the juggle as a whole, it was a knock on. If he had control of the ball, he would have scored the try
@lpz777 "The main scheme is to work the ball down the field somehow and deposit it over the line at the other end, and that, in order to squelch this programme each team is allowed to put in a certain amount of assault and battery and do things to its fellow man which, if done elsewhere, would result in fourteen days without the option, coupled with some strong remarks from the bench." (PG Wodehouse)
Not even rugby it's rugby league, and I reckon a few people will have other tries they rate.. However I got to see this game live and to see it happen well... Greg Inglis is a freak of the game no doubt there!!!!
It wasn't a knock-on because he caught the ball himself before it touched either the ground or another player a great example of this is Brian o'driscoll's forward pass to himself (look it up)
@CatManUtdFC Then whats stopping someone from just batting the ball forward and up into the air basketball style and then re-gathering it? As long as it doesn't touch the ground or another player ...
@bongo155 it just depends if its intentional or not. If its a legit attempt to gather the ball and you fumble and re-gather and it doesnt hit the ground then its fine. Thats the case in league at least and im pretty sure union too.
Pure luck really but it goes to show you never give up even if the ball is floating outside the playing field. Not a bad try but fairly ordinary for a one man try. Tries where the whole team work for it and from 100 out are far greater than this one.
@samanfar rugby league - run get hit run get hit , then knock on. rugby union - hard hit, quick ball, back moves, create space .. try. and the rugby league players arent as skilled of as fast as union. so shut your filthy gub
load of cobblers! johnathon davies's try for great britain against the aussies was the best there was but all league games are just glorified crash ball and for six tackles its a case of i got the ball and u cannot have it union is far the greater game
haha g.i just got lucky but it was good thinking giving it a go, still this is not rugby!!its rugby league!! and yes new zealand are the world champions at this sport as well
I like league and union. Best party of league though is that players determine th outcome rahter than the referee. In Australia we have oif club football sides that display massiveluy superiour Rugby football skills to may most of the world footbal sides - and they do it week in week out - ever seena try like that in Union - mybe but i have lots in league. na i dont think so. in union anyway, you can fumble the ball forward lke that, once you catch it yourself, which essentially is what he did before passing it back behind him
I thought I was gonna get to see John Kirwan's try against Italy in 1987, but I guess not. Regardless, this was a pretty good try, haven't seen much of league so I don't know what to base it on, but that right there (the handoff to Gasnier) was nothing short of spectacular :)
Well, If I'm not mistaken it would not have been a try in Union.
The Australian player misses his first catch, this "throwing" the ball forward, catches it and passes it back. But in Union you arn't allow to throw the ball forward, accidently or not...
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Pretty damn cool, anyway. I know next to nothing about league.
@LarS1963 nah its legit - you can accidentally hit the ball forward in union so long as the ball doesn't contact the ground or another player. It's not a knock on provided it's not intentional
@LarS1963 You aren't aloud to in league either, it's just that the NZer punches the ball at him and the call is made that rather then him knocking it forward the ball just hit him and went forward...
@McKenna654 Oh all right. Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately rugby is a minor sport in Denmark, people preferring football, so I don't get to follow it a lot.
Did you know that rugby league was a game that broke away from rugby union cause as it was made for people who could not afford to go to hospitals if they got injured...........food for thought
i play rugby league and i dont say shit, but at the end of the day id rather play rugby union than soccer.

That's very cool (even if it's league).

Did you know that rugby league was a game that broke away from rugby union cause as it was made for people who could not afford to go to hospitals if they got injured...........food for thought

@13gareyj Actually league was invented to pay its professional players..... and alot of union players at the time switched to it......
Darkcorner07 3 months ago
@Darkcorner07 No.....At that time league was implemented because the competitions could not cover pay for peoples injuries....
