Excellent form! Strong skill stance and everything is very pronounced, I especially liked the clean tornado kick/butterfly. There is a Bagua Dao form that includes these same steps although it's quite longer, 34 moves in all (I've got the moves/names in Chinese/English passed down through the Yin Fu Pai).
Great job again, I'm sure you make your masters smile :)
Yes, there are many two person drills that can be derived from the form. Some applications I have been taught, and others I have figured out on my own. All the movements can be applied multiple ways, and the more you work the techniques, the more your understanding increases, and new ways of applying will become self evident.
really nice technique, man. For some reason, alot of white folks look really awkward when doing kung fu. Maybe it's a genetic thing in the alignment of the hips or a lack of efficiency in movement, but you seem to have overcome that. really nice.
I've only been working this form for the past 3 years, though I've been working Shaolin for 20 years. I learned this form in a relatively short amount of time, maybe two weeks, but repetition is the most important in terms of attaining true skill. I'm pretty happy with it, but I definitely need to work it more. Thanks for the feedback.
I looked at your video again. I noticed detailed movements like turning your head when you sweep yoursword along the sides.
The move I like most is on 0.52-0.53. You didn't seem to lift off very high with your left leg, but your right leg still executed the kick very well, making the move look effortless. That was impressive.
The tornado kick is much easier once you understand that it comes from the waist, not the legs. Once you get your body turning, the foot has to accelerate naturally to keep up with the rest of your body. Once it becomes more natural you can work many variations off of it, including landing both feet same time, or landing on the kicking foot first. Most important, enjoy the practice. Peace.
Excellent technique!

Hi,
Just a question.
Have you learned the applications to most or all of the techniques of your form? Do you have any two person training drills?

good form...and you have the coolest garage ever!
I'd turn my garage into a training hall, but my roommate would flip out the first time she came home and the garage door wouldn't open...=(

I'm still struggling with that type of kick.
