  • Spend less money on the needless HUUUGE US military and start caring for the actual US people. I'd rather have my dollar go to help one of my own fellow citizens than to bomb some people halfway across the world.

  • US military spending is less than 3% of GDP.

  • I need to move to canada

  • "More testing being done." Like giving me THREE MRA when I didn't move at ALL. The bill was 4,000$ for it. Aaaand they tried to get me to have cosmetic surgery to have a plaque of metal in my face. Fortunately a friendly nurse told me I needed nothing.

  • Single payer now!

  • I wish I could help you get more of these programs. I am for single payer. No, I am not for socialized medicine, I am for socialized insurance.

A-For-Da-Ble Health* will save our economy,

it is in the best interest of everybody,

if every job moved out of the country,

than (tell me) whose gonna pay the medical fee?

The reasn we are in this recessn is because healthc has become what employers can't afford to let us afford it. In order for an employr to afford he has to charge more for prdcts.

  • CHOICES: Americans will be able to CHOOSE BETWEEN their current PRIVATE insurance OR a High-Quality PUBLIC Government-run plan similar to Medicare. If you like your current plan KEEP IT. If you don't—or don't have any—you can get the PUBLIC Government-run plans that cover all Senators in Congress.

  • First of all how is "public" healthcare going to be funded in the first place?

  • A major part of it will be funded by a redistribution of money we are already spending unwisely.

  • How is the money going to be "redistributed"?

Who decides the wise way of spending money and who is "we"?

  • Cutting down on fraud for starters. I don't know all the details but from the way I understand it the majority of people will actually end up making money even if they keep their own insurance. If you would like more information you can visit my profile. We are the taxpayers..

  • I guess the government isn't capable of fraud...

I would prefer to pay for the insurance that I want and nothing else.

Public healthcare would at best be an increase on the tax that Americans are ALREADY paying. At worse it is guaranteed income for doctors/hospitals, which would take away the incentive of doing a good job that a free market would provide and would lead to lousy service.

I don't want public healthcare, and I shouldn't be forced to fund it (through taxation).

  • You have nothing to worry about.

  • LOL THEY ALREADY HAVE GUARANTEED INCOME--your premiums.

I guess there is no there..there...

  • At this point in time, I don't even care about PRIVATE healthcare.

  • This video explains how it will be paid for and more details. You should take a look at it.

    watch?v=xwd6OTNnrdo&feature=quicklist

  • HIGH-QUALITY COVERAGE: With YOUR choice of doctors. Government-run plans have a track record of innovating to improve quality, because they're NOT just focused on short-term profits. And if you choose the PUBLIC plans, you'll still get to choose YOUR doctor and hospital.

  • WELL ALL SAVE A BUNCH OF MONEY: The PUBLIC health insurance options don't have to spend money on CEO bonuses, shareholder dividends, or excessive advertising, so it'll cost a lot less. Plus, the PRIVATE plans will have to lower their rates & provide better value to compete, so people who keep their current PRIVATE insurance will save, too.

  • IT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY: A for-profit insurer can close, move out of state, or just kick you off their insurance rolls. The PUBLIC health insurance option will ALWAYS be available to provide you with the health security you need.

  • THE KEY PART OF OBAMAS HEALTH CARE: No longer will sick people, folks in rural communities, low-income Americans or with pre-existing conditions be forced to go without coverage. The PUBLIC health insurance plan will be available to EVERYONE. For those struggling to make ends meet, the premiums will be subsidized by the government.

  • I could NOT have said it better.

    Right on "Smartassawhip" !!

  • Damn, that bitch is ugly!

  • After my severage package ended health insurance would have cost me - just - over $600 per month. However, the stimulus package pays $400 of that. I would not have paid $600/month for insurance. If I got hurt or sick I would have sought out treatment and government/hostpial would have paid the total.

Ah, the incentive structure of our system. Sick people seek out care. However, we make it hard if not impossible for them to pay. So the government covers the cost. If its broke fix it.

  • sure, ideally universal healthcare should be a reality. but who trusts this gov't to administer it? eugenics anyone? before they could only use the poor and minorities as guinea pigs, which was wrong. under a single payer system the gov't will release the hell squad on us. hillary clinton compared margaret sanger to thomas jefferson. margaret sanger is a racist, elitist eugenicist. she talked about recruiting traitors within minority groups in order to practice eugenics on them. be careful!

  • Hospitals and doctors will still be private. The government is the insurer in a single payer system.

  • if there is single payer the govt will set the price and necessity of procedures. when that happens they are the system, and its no longer private. you can't compete with the govt when it steps into the market place.

  • It seems like the only people who don't support single payer is congress and the president.

    this country sucks

  • More accurately the president, congress and the corporate crooks who bankrolled their campaigns.

  • the chick looks like she's a lesbian

  • fucking low begging for donatons.....yea the financial crisis hit you really hard...my ass

  • The USA has the ... "BEST SPECIALISTS" ... but our Health Care System stinks and is ranked as the Low 37th on a World Scale !! It's like saying "THE USA WON THE MOST GOLD MEDALS IN THE OLYMPICS ... SO THE ENTIRE AMERICAN POPULATION IS MADE OF TOP ATHLETES !!

When in reality we have an overweight & sick ...(cancer~heart diseases~diabetic)... population, compared to other nations. See my profile for more details and ways in which you can contact your representatives. Thank you.

  • exactly.

  • Yup. WHO is now reporting that specialists are part of the high cost problem. They're advocating going back to the basics - primary care.

  • Lets see what you or if you say anything different when your Insurance company turns around and denies a life saving procedure to one of your immediate family members . You can walk right up to them and thank.

  • You really are an ignorant fob. It's always with the 'just you wait and see' crap. Scare tactics sure work for you Canadians. Pathetic losers.

  • wtf? is the tumor on your pee brain blocking you logic center?...

health care and social security are a huge drag on our economy and need to be reformed..

stop listening to your jonas brothers cd's and start reading up on foreign health care systems to get ideas on how to fix our system, maybe then you wont sound like an ignorant redneck on the internet

    pathetic emo's

  • It must be that penis in your mouth that keeps you from focusing on the real issue. Big gov is the real threat, you dumb fuck. It's gov created crisis that keeps you more interested in your penis than taking responsibility for your own life circumstances. You're just another welfare loser looking for a hand out, without a clue how to manage your life. Get a job.

  • i wish i could be as feeble-minded as you, unfortunately i'm literate and understand advanced math..

lmao- you consider yourself a musician!! a profession that is full of trust fund babies and low life's..

from your lack of concern for the nation and your fellow citizens im guessing your a trust fund baby whos parent have babied him through everything

gov already manages soc- security and health care.. we are just demanding that they manage it more efficiently.. our businesses demand it

  • toyracers wrt: "Imao- you consider yourself a musician! a profession that is full of trust fund babies and low life's [sic] .."

Speaking as a professional musician for more than 30 years and as one that knows more musicians from all over the world than you possible imagine, none of which were trust fund babies or lowlifes, I take great offense to your idiotic generalization. You may not understand what art brings to humanity, but the majority of thinking people do. Shame on you.

  • Keep that penis in your mouth, it's all you welfare rats are good at; sucking the life out of anyone you come in contact with. I'm sure you're happy with gov programs. You undoubtedly have no desire to take care of yourself. You, literate?! Now that's a joke I'm sure your lowlife parents get.

  • bbburton lol, at least Canadians are giving Americans good advice, instead of spreading vice around the world like USA does!

  • Canadians wouldn't know good advice if it bit them in their ass.

  • bbburton Canadians don't NEED good advice , they already have COMMON SENSE

  • So now you claim common sense? Just about as useless as your good advice.

  • bbburton I am talking about CANADIAN common sense, which is plentiful up there... unfortunately, when my fellow Americans like you display the all too familiar ignoramus attitudes of the brainwashed sheeple by willingly being screwed by the "American Way" of profits before patients , I am frankly embarrassed .

Good advice would be to think before you talk to a Canadian, they'll outsmart you every time. Why? They are healthier & wise, in mind as well as body.

  • Canadian motto: "We're second best, we're second best!" Common sense among second stringers is just that, second rate. You should be embarrassed of yourself.

  • Canada's health care system sucks. It can take years to even get a family physician, and you can't get non-emergency care without one. The Canadian single payer system routinely encourages people to use the private system.

    Then why have it anyway?

  • TenseAlcyoneus That's a lie. My friend and her hubby went to Canada on vacation and she got abdominal pains. The Canadian ER discovered Ovarian Cancer in its early stages, and cured her with surgery! They let her stay long enuf until she was safe to fly, then she and hubby returned to Oregon with NO MEDICAL BILLS!

  • And yet, here we have you, a Canadian spreading nationalist bigotry, claiming possession of common sense.

    Heh.

  • TenseAlcyoneus I am as American as one can get. Where did you get the idea I am Canadian?

  • I got the idea because you're spreading anti-American bigotry and touting Canadian superiority. If you're a self-loathing neo-liberal American, then it's my bad. Should have known.

  • TenseAlcyoneus What a bunch of ignorant dribble. I love America and comprehend the Constitution, just because you don't doesn't mean everyone is like you. Most Americans are like me, they want Single Payer Universal Healthcare for all.

  • You don't mean the way America keep their noses out of the worlds business do you????

  • Some guys just like to keep the blinders on or stick their heads in the sand blind to everything going on around them Yur Pres just spent 800 billion dollars on what? Making sure that the Banks, the very institutions that have caused the mess we are in didn`t fail and let the people that put him in power fall between the cracks. Your government is to focused on military instead of basic human needs your comments on here show a lack of maturity and total ignorance to what is happening around u

  • Thanks for making my points for me. I don't want more gov interference; not in my health care, not in my personal life, and certainly not around the world. Your head is so far up your ass, you can't even see that your big gov propaganda is exactly what I'm against. The liberals want big gov in everyone's personal life, and the neo cons want big gov around the globe. Wake up you dumb shit and get real. It's big gov that is the problem, no matter what the claimed crisis. Solve you own problems.

  • First, assume that everyone is gonig to be covered. How will you get away from at least a partial pulbic option? Next, if some people that are not covered and are working they will be covered by the government. Next, if you are a company, why pay for health care when the government will? I really believe that people need to first stare if they believe everyone MUST and WILL be covered. After that, good luck in stearing clear of a single payer option.

  • i suggest PBS: frontline's "Sick Around The World" ..Switzerland had the same problems america is facing and we seem to be going in the same direction

Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit on basic care and are prohibited from cherry-picking only young and healthy applicants. They can make money on supplemental insurance, however. As in Germany, the insurers negotiate with providers to set standard prices for services, but drug prices are set by the government.

  • I'm curious and admit I haven't looked at the link. I've often heard Obama and many Democratic policies referred to as being Nazi-like but is it because Hitler, Stalin, Castro and others recognized the need for all citizens of their respective republics to have good health for the strength of their nations, or is it mainly a way to discredit by the negative association attached to the word 'Nazi' because that's how it appears to be currently used.

  • There is a battle of the people, you and I, against the ruling class, the international banking cartels.

That group has got a strangle hold on us, the Americans.

Our education system is the Prussian system formed in the 1800's.

Hitler was financed by our commercial banks and the Bush's, I can't make this up.

Obama's plan, really a plan made up by people representing the banking interests, is NAZI like in the fact that it would kill off the old, chronically ill, as cost cutting measures.

  • Does Obama's plan follow the planned Nazi program to the letter, especially in regards to killing off the old and chronically ill, as you claim?

I assume you're referring to the public educational system, as the Boston Latin School was founded in 1635 and Harvard in 1636. Horace Mann is widely regarded as being the 'father' of public education in America and any link to the Prussian system is a comparison of apples to oranges.

As for Hitler's financing, you might be right...

  • but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, as neither a debate about the educational system is.

  • Castro said in 1983:

"Health is an essential right of all men and a responsibility of society as a whole ... It is absolutely necessary to promote mother and child welfare care programs, the control of communicable diseases, environmental protection, distribution of foodstuffs for children ... extend health care services, train the required technical personnel and guarantee the essential basic medicines which such conditions demand.

  • As long as health fails to be considered a fundamental right of man and a duty of the community; as long as the responsibility of the State and of society in regards to health-care fails to be recognized; as long as inequalities in the distribution of health resources, both internationally and domestically, fail to disappear; as long as poverty, hunger, ignorance and squalor fail to be directly fought against, little will be achieved in improving human health in the underdeveloped world."

  • The goal is to cut costs, whilst growing a bureaucracy that is efficient. Our government is being run as a fascist state.

Current events will shape future trends.

  • That is true, current event will shape future trends and since none of us are clarivoyant, we shall have to wait and see.

If our government is being run as a fascist state now (which it isn't), the seeds were planted long ago. Fascism is the centralization of authority under a dictator (we just elected a President) by using stringent socio-economic controls and containment of the opposition by terror and censorship, usually indicated by extreme nationalism and racism.

  • Oops, misspelled 'clairvoyant'!

  • Grammer Gestapo?

  • Fascism lite, I'd recatoagorize it as Fascism lite.

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." - Benito Mussolini

International Banking Cartels through the international unconstitutional Federal Reserve calls the shots, not a Dictator.

Time permitting look into Gerald Celente, he's all over youtube.

Also Aaron Russo, producer of Beverly Hlls Cop, made a documentary that's free on youtube:

    Freedom to Fascism.

    Good luck to you.

  • In every OECD country there is a blurring of the lines between the power of corporations and the government, but I don't see you calling Canada or Japan or Sweden fascist.

  • dam... lmao.. that dude is hilarious... is it possible to be more dramatic.. the dude is a lunatic, his comparisons are irrational... you should watch the john stossel's 20-20 segment on medicare and how billions of dollars are spent on rich people that could afford private insurance..

i think we should cut off coverage at certain incomes, we should not cut coverage on health services

  • Obama's health plan is a resurection of the NAZI health plan. It's true the way to Socialize medicine more, to offset the costs and rationing of care, is to get rid of chronically ill patients by denying care.

Hitler had to do it because they could not afford not to.

We're in a pinch, the world economy is unraveling.

    Stossle, huh?

See Rand Paul explain why medicine is so expensive: /watch?v=CrwXiasKgjc

  • can you justify the cost of the military industrial complex? could that money be used elsewhere where it could help your nation as a whole . if you gave every family in your country 1 million dollars each instead of giving it to the banks GM and Chrysler would have never gone broke and you would still be living in your houses and going to your jobs

  • I'll adress your answer like this:

    Monetary Policy.

I you have real money (not the fiat currency you have now) exhorbatant spending is not possible.

You couldn't create magical money to speculate with and cause moral hazard.

You certainly could not create magical one million.

Try to understand that this dollar is doomed, all fiat currency is always debased.

Why would I want a million dollars of fake money? That would only create a bigger problem. Whoops it already has.:(

  • in Dr Pauls example: herceptin cost 3000 a month.. in America it has to be approved by your insurance and its a teir 3 drug.. yet the brits get it for practically nothing

1 million medical bankruptcies a year. insurances deny coverage to the sick dont qualify for government programs.. too many uninsured are a drain on the system regardless of why they are uninsured

  • Exactly.

  • The problem with healthcare reform is the way our political campaigns are financed. Campaign contributions from the healthcare industry are pouring in. The rich are buying off the government once again. Why are people against campaign finance reform? I know it would be messy. Getting money totally out of politics would be impossible, I know. Still we could do a much, much better job. Obama changed campaign finance, but I'm afraid he set it back.

  • It's the legacy of the lobbyists that seems to be the biggest problem and their influence is apparently still strong in Congress. Something as pervasive as this can be defeated, but it will take some time as it has been the rule for so long.

  • Its is called the golden rule. The people with the gold make the rules. There is alot of money in the insurance companies. And every one of our senators has there price. The drug companies and insurance companies are together. That is why your insurance company denies certain meds. It shouldn't be that way and we should have 1 insurance company for every one. Its greed that is buying off our senator whores. they would sell there sole if the price was right.

  • 21 years old.... so innocent, so ignorant ... you have much to learn

  • Fuck you baby boomer. You old people are the ones who have let our govt expand out of control and now my generation has to clean up after your shit because you think you are entitled to everything like this douchebag union member. I may only be 21 but i've read more about history and economics than ignorant so-called "progressives" and "new dealers" such as yourself.

  • Ferrozm, I wish more 21 year olds were as perspicuous as you. Well said.

  • Your assumption in all that ranting is that our government is non-democratic. If you want to say that, fine- but be honest. You believe democracy does not exist in the country. And if so, then THAT is the real problem.

  • very good point. also, somebody obama knows has a mustache. hitler had a mustache. that should tell you everything you know about obama.

  • haha exactly

  • The SILENT AMERICAN GENOCIED ! The POPE Ignores The President pretends People arent DYING but Worries about Dafur and Ghana when His own DIE Daily from NEGLECT ! The People who Voted Obama into Office

  • The misleading, negative spin we're force fed by the corporate owned mainstream media concerning health care and health care insurance is nothing more than fear mongering and brainwashing propaganda generated by the business unions (aka corporations) who will do whatever it takes to maintain their obscene but very profitable grip on the udders of the health care cash cow.

  • Without commenting on what was actually said on this informative, thoughtful video, observer855 did a knee-jerk reaction that sounds like it came directly from the right wing spin machine.

  • Some unions are indeed corrupt, but overwhelmingly they serve the interests of workers. Bosses unanimously work for the rich. I don't think there is a comparison, unions fight for the people.

  • I get what your saying and I'm not a hard-line as some on unions, just that when Union Administrations are exposed to have bought multi-million/billion golf resorts, exotic property and the like so they can retire to a quiet place to deliberate what's best for the rank & file, there's a double standard.

The horror stories of Unions battling claims like insurance companies fighting claims, looking for loopholes and knowing that someone won't have the resources to fight. Again, who's interest?

  • unions fight for their benefits, pensions, membership dues and more expansion. They are parasites to any economy the fact that steel jobs have been shipped abroad is because of the cost of production that unions impose with all their entitlements.

  • Sure, Union take from the rich. This *improves* the living conditions for workers. I work in a union in a warehouse, and I make much more and get benefits, whereas a Walmart worker gets payed less and zero or little benefits for working just as hard. If you ask me, its the rich who pay workers much less than their labor is worth- it is THEY who are parasites. also, the steel industry couldn't have been exported if it weren't because the rich exploited the labor of workers to do so.
