  • In a later episode, Sheldon dismissed astrology as "pseudo-scientific hokum," and Penny answered, "Blah, blah, blah, typical Taurus!" Now, I don't believe in astrology, but Taureans (i.e., Sheldon) ARE said to scoff at newfangled ideas and dismiss them as, well, "hokum." Hmm... weird.

  • @JakeyJake95 Okay. There are twelve zodiac signs, and at least six billion people on Earth (I know it broke seven, but six makes the math easier). Due to the pigeonhole principle (look it up), a single horoscope applies to at least half a billion people. Don't you think a single horoscope, being as vague as it is, would apply to some of such a great number of people?

  • @TheHeidelbergKid Yes, if the horoscope in question only applies to a person's sun sign (the sign they were born under). Astrologers see these types of horoscopes as highly vague and generalized. That's why they calculate birth charts, which tell all of the planets' positions (which signs they were in) at the time of one's birth. Using a birth chart, an astrologer can build a horoscope that is unique to the person to whom the chart belongs.

  • @JakeyJake95 You do realize that about four people are born a second, right? Thousands would share the exact same horoscope even taking into account birth charts. Hardly unique.

  • @JakeyJake95 if you actually believe in astrology, you are a fool

  • i <3 sheldon. and i love this scene because what he says is so true

  • i love this scene!!

  • I like sheldons shirt in this episode, he should wear that more often! too bad that his pants has been stolen

  • astrology is stupid. Sheldon hit a bulls eye!

  • Penny IS in Sheldon's spot wtf!

  • PENNY'S IN SHELDON'S SPOT!

  • Hollaaaa to Jim Parsons (Dr. Sheldon Cooper) in honor of his well-deserved Emmy and Golden Globe! XD

  • "i'm a sagitarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know.."

Yeah it tells me that you are incredibly hot

  • penny is sitting in sheldons spot :P

  • ronaldmonster and 2 other people believe the sun's apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of their birth somehow affects their personality

  • Should I be worried if I understood what he just said?

  • what % of population seriously believes in astrology?

  • @jffryh 99.99 of women do lool

  • @sumthin5

    harrisinteractive. com/vault/Harris_Poll_2009_12_15.pdf

says 26% (of american adults?) believe, 52% don't believe, & 22% not sure.

  • @jffryh To many I am afraid, I think it varies from country to country but in general about 80% of all

females does believe, I did a study and asked all females I encountered during a couple of years

and got that percentage, regarding males I do not know but I suspect it is much lower.

  • Best. Show. Ever.

  • sheldon for president!

  • She's sittin' in his spot...

  • penny is a idiot

  • best!

  • AMEN!

  • Sheldon: Yes. It tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the sun's apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality.

  • PWNAGE

  • Why isn't Sheldon in his regular spot in the sofa?

    So weird!

  • @catisalivecatisdead because they just met Penny, Leonard made him sit somewhere else.

  • @happycappy723

That was her first strike lol

  • I think Penny's right...my supposed horoscope personality is almost exactly the same as my real personality

  • So much is lost to disbelief, karl jung who was smarter than any writer on the big bang theory, and any of u posting believed in astrology. I dare you to read about your sign and introspect in an objective fashion. but u would have to be an aries to be objective.

  • @bagoverthehead You just showed everyone a beautiful example of an 'argument from authority'.

  • i'm still waiting for your "beautiful" argument

  • @bagoverthehead you're not the quickest mind are you?

  • no are you the most articulate wtf do u mean

  • I dare you to read the work of Carl Jung, since you obviously haven't. He doesn't think astrology was correct, in fact his own research into personality types (based on Hippocrates and Plato's works) basically says that its a weighted coin toss both in how you perceive information and how you react to it. He should have instead continued the work of Freud (his own mentor) since all typology is just classification. Either way, astrology isn't real. If it was, people would call it science instead.

  • I think he's so right I still can't believe people think astrology is real, God is not even a science!

  • Well... I'm a virgo

    hahahahaha

  • it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the sun's aparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constelations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality!!! jajaja amoo a sheldon!! es lo mejor

  • I love this show so much, that i managed to memorize the whole thing! hahaha

  • Nice video,

    thanks for sharing.

    ;-)

  • Fail ^_^

Officially astrology was scientifically disproved four times by four different science groups. I am talking only about practical experiments of course, theoretically it was turned to nothing countless times with a solid facts and arguments.

Yeah, that and Penny couldn't said something like it, its just not in her character. lol

  • Haha. I love Sheldon.

  • I'm a Sagittarius too.

  • I think I'm in love.

  • what is sagitarius anyway.

  • hehe, you funny one.

  • zomg i love it

  • anybody can help post what Sheldon said in the show about the astrology, it's too fast that I can't even follow

  • -- that's prolly enough about us, tell us about you!

-- oh, me? okay.. i'm a sagitarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know..

-- yes.. it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural dellusion that the sun's apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality

    -- participate in the what?!

  • I actually searched youtube for this clip just to qet that quote. thanx

  • That sounds like something I would say

  • from a purely comedic standpoint, that may be the greatest line in TV history lol

  • I just think its nice to have a comedy about smart people, rather than the usual dimwitted comedies which, although funny, get old after one or two seasons.

  • Yes, I agree, even though it is somehow clichee. And I love how great she looks at the end.

  • @TheAvengerPrince like this doesn't get old after 2 seasons. i think we need something fresh already.

  • @TheAvengerPrince Agreed. Seinfeld and The Big Bang Theory are brilliant. Although, The Office was funny for more than two seasons!

  • lmao That was awsome cuz its true!

  • i so agree...

  • Marcinhuuuuu tá certo. AHUuhahua
