@26eusse I realized this later. I've read a lot of Beatles books and just made a silly mistake. I knew it was Paul, but for some reason I was confused.
@joethulhuz and @bumratbob you should read some beatles books and clean your ears, Paul is the lead vocalist of the song. John sing with him in unision at end, but Paul sang most of the song. You can even hear McCartney singing solo in his Little Richard voice in some parts of the song
This performance of "Magical Mystery Tour" was from June, 1993. It was part of a Fox Network Concert. It was held in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love this performance.
How come it is none of the Beatles solo performances were ever as good as the original song? They had better technology, better sound, better mixing, but somehow it still doesn't sound like the original, even if it's the same Beatle singing it. There are some things I guess, that just CANNOT be duplicated, even by the original artists.
it's because the song is performed live, and most songs don't sound the same live, especially their later songs, like this one, where they experimented a lot in the studio
Well, obviously you're not 40 years old, or old enough to remember the real thing. It's called 'nostalgia' Even if one Beatle performs it, it's better than NO Beatles performing it. Everyone who remembers the live performances, is probably pushing 60 right now, so I guess it doesn't really matter.
they were good players but vocally they didn't have the range, and sounded a bit raspy on the high harmonies
paul himself wasn't sounding that great during this period (too much touring I heard) but his new band is really good, and he sounds really great these days
But leave it to Paul, still trying to draw attention to himself after all these years. I guess the more things change the more they stay the same. What a ham. His constant self-promotion is disturbing.
This is awful. Lennon and Harrison are turning in their graves right about now, and after watching this, Starr probably wishes he were dead. And this is coming from a big Beatles fan. This is one of those Beatles songs which shouldnt be performed live.
is that the concert held in Charlotte?

his singing falls flat on its arse, i think this is a track from your beatles days best left alone Sir.
bumratbob 1 year ago
@bumratbob Mostly because John sang it originally. There's a reason for that. Though it's nice to hear him do it nonetheless.

@joethulhuz John did not sing this song..
silat13 1 year ago
@silat13 How familiar are you with their voices? Because I'm 100% sure that it's John. There's harmonies from Paul and George but the lead is John.

WHY WOULD THEY DUPE IT FOR 40 YEARS!!!!
John died lol, why not drop it all, it's obvious they won't be making anymore studio albums anymore with Harrison dead aswell.

sorry this is Not wings or the Beatles
this had to be late 80's early 90's with this particular line up
this was a somewhat awkward period for Paul
he does get better after touring and a few more albums and dumping all the old farts that played with him during this tour
too much wine and Pot in them days
and a crap backup band-Paul sounds good these days

Paul, it's "towah", not "tuuh".
Performance pretty good anyway, besides that Paul's harmony part for the "roll uuuuuuuuuup" parts was louder than the other guy singing the top line.
