  • Big Dus' Coming to memphis!

Jerry lawla want some of you lol I love the way this guy speaks. He's the mersey hour WHOO! too sweet to be sour.

  • The best

  • Technically,it was Bobo Brazil...in the WWA &/or NWA...Than Iceman Parsons in WCCW...Than The Rock...

  • all dey chitlins round da teevee, i'm da pitiest afflete in da wurld,

he truly sounds like a nigger

  • Dusty Rhodes is cool as fuck.

    End of story.

  • 1 Dislike?

Proof that Jerry Lawler has a Youtube account.

  • Dusty sounds like Sylvester. Baby Doll, must've been Tweety. LMAO @ 1:19, Meemfus, Teahsee gon' be my home.

  • dusty belching-&/or-farting>"dashing"cody rhodes...'NUFF SAID!!!...

  • had 2 be between dusty's '73/'74 face turn in florida-elvis's death in '77,i suppose...

  • "Long distance information...." He recites Chuck Berry like Shakespeare! Classic poetry for sure.

  • oh man elvis was still alive

  • This guy had the Gift of the Gab

  • gift a gab if you wiiiiiiiill

  • classic

  • Indeed sir. The man of the people bringin all the churn together. Dusty had a spontaneous eloquence and off-the-cuff poetic genius that, as a white kid in the South, I found absolutely inspiring. To a lot of youngsters who knew nothing of the civil rights struggle he was MLK, Ali and PT Barnum rolled up into one big lovable package. The man had soul and a bionic elbow!

  • was this when lawler was a heel in the early-2-mid-70s...probably when elvis was still alive...so im guessing b4 august '77?!?!?!?!?

  • @jerzeefranky3475 Lawler was small peanuts compared to the American Dream baby. If it weren't for Andy Kaufman, Lawler would have never got out of the south. Jus say'n.

  • @rabidgoldfish65 : Not true... McMahon would'a come calling whether Kaufman happened or not...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Huh? And your point is?

  • @rabidgoldfish65 : Lawler would have went up there whether the Kaufman angle happened or not... you're shortchanging Lawler...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling; and it's a well deserved shortchangeing I might add.

  • In my opinion, THIS, THIS, is a PROMO! Today's promos are (more) like "stand-up!"

  • This is my favourite Dusty promo ever. This man was a genuis of self publicity. Dusty was way ahead of his time. In my view, next to Hulk Hogan, the most charismatic man in the history of professional wrestling.

  • MighyBlack I'm not lying look it up. Ali freely admits to copying much of his ring persona from the great Gorgeous George, a wrestler he idolized during the so-called Golden Age of wrestling the 1950s. It doesn't diminish Ali in any way and if anything, it shows what a huge wrestling fan Ali was as a little boy. Flair freely admits to borrowing phrases from Arn Anderson such as "What's causing all of this?" Dusty's legacy isn't diminished in the least from borrowing from Graham or Ali.

  • Why 17?

    Why not 25?

    Dusty is the greatest!

  • Was Dusty the first black heavyweight champion?

  • @geodeuce yes

  • Muhammad Ali copied his ring persona from the one and only Gorgeous George.

  • Stop lying.

  • There's talk that it was really Blassie and not George that he copied.

  • I know Blassie had a real brash persona back then too. Everything I've read and heard it was Georgeous George that he copied. Ali was always a big wrestling fan so the wrestling match with Inoki makes perfect sense.

  • But for the match with Inoki they paired Ali with Blassie and not George.

  • @86lenny That's because George was dead..

  • Everyone steals in wrestling, it's really no big deal.

  • 17 dancing go go bears?

  • Rhodes borrowed heavily from Graham. Dusty has stated in numerous clips Graham was his "idol" when he started out.... *don't remember Lawler and Rhodes ever hooking up in Memphis in the 70's....

  • Did Lawler ever hook it up with Dusty in Memphis? If so what was the result. Who was the face and who was the heel?

  • he was before superstar billy graham

  • A lost of this is lost in context or is he just being incoherent? The "Long Distance Information" rhyme he cuts short, is that from another promo? or did he lose track of what he was trying to say?

  • @GrooBee1 You don't speak Dusty-ese, do ya. I dug the man's rap. Did you expect him to quote the whole song? That isn't the Dream's style, baby. You gotta get right!

Lay 'em down and smackum yackum...

  • @rabidgoldfish65 My bad: "Long distance information give me Memphis, Tennessee

Help me find the party trying to get in touch with me

She could not leave her number but I know who placed the call

My uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall"

  • @GrooBee1 well played !

  • @GrooBee1 With "long distance information, get me Memphis, Tennessee..." Dusty was quoting the lyrics of Chuck Berry's song "Memphis."

  • @loukip Yes, I finally figured it out. Thanks you, though.

  • @GrooBee1 That is a song done by George Thorogood in the 80's. Could be done by someone else too. Thats the reference.

  • lmfao 17 dancin go go bears there will never be another dusty rhodes

  • He was in Superstar Billy Graham mode for this promo.

  • Dusty Rhodes was so "supafly" back then, love it

  • Had the pleasure of meeting The Plumber's Son yesterday. Grew up watching him with my dad. Good times. Being a Tampa native Dusty ALWAYS took time for kids and his fans. A true gentleman in the community.

  • Dusty sounds like Superstar Billy Graham.

  • He admits taking some of Superstar Graham's talk. Flair, Ventura, Steiner, Hogan and Paul Ellering all owe some thanks to Superstar Graham.

  • Did this match actually go down between Dream and the King?

  • Dusty Rhodes: The original wigger.

  • I got a wcw pay per view once when dusty was still commentating there. My dad came down to watch part and asked us who the black guy talking was. Classic!

  • i guess he was the only white guy in a black neighborhood lol

  • No, he just copied Thunderbolt Patterson as far as his promo's went and never gave him credit.

  • So true. He needs to be sending royalty checks to Thunderbolt Patterson, Superstar Billy Graham and Muhammed Ali.

  • Comment removed

  • Calm down! He gave Thurnderbolt credit and put him over by copying him. Wrestlers don't stand up and say during the promo, "I'm about to copy Thunderbolt or Ali or Superstar". They just do it. This promo is a classic. I heard elements of Muhammad Ali, Thunderbolt and Superstar Billy Graham in here. This is why i always liked Big Dust so much. Way to go for Dusty!!

  • I love Dusty, he was one of my favorites as a kid, but he never gave Thunderbolt the credit he deserved !

  • haha yea he is

  • If you're an up and coming wrestler and you want to be able to give good promos, there are three guys you should study - Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and Superstar Billy Graham. Those guys set the standard.

  • 400 lbs of twisted steel and sex appeal, Dusty Rhodes!

  • Dusty was a great talker!

  • when wrestling was great!!!!!!

  • NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was and always will be the best wrestling there ever was. being from the mid-atlantic area myself, i am proud 2 say that. wrestling of this caliber is gone 4ever. thank God 4 memories

  • I grew up on NWA Mid-Atlantic wrestling. I spent many Saturdays with Bob Caudle on the tv.

  • big dusty..he's not right..

  • Did they ever have this match?

  • Has he dined and wined with Kings and Queens?

  • "see 'im,see 'im here?!" lol!!

  • LOL. like we can really see him. aweseom

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • "my pink princess phone....."

    pure genius

  • Dust went "Wooo!"

    Blasphemy.

  • Fuck are you talkin about.

    Woooo, is universal.

Only ric flair says it best.

  • Let's face facts. Back then, you couldn't think of Ric Flair without Dusty Rhodes & vise versa. From ring robes to gestures & manurisms, Yhose two had a chemistry unlike any in all of pro wrestling.

  • Ohh man. If we only knew how much we'd miss this classic stuff....and now it's gone forever. Great memories and great laughs.

  • Dusty Rhodes was like Muhammad Ali to me as a black kid growing up, he was on tv more on the local stations in Florida along with Gordon Solie and they made Saturday night fun and going to matches at the Armory and then the local high school to watch them wrestle for 1 1/2 hrs was awesome. Dusty Rhodes was one of the most influential athletes to me. I ended up being a McDonald's All American basketball player and I talked trash like Dusty. Thank you Dusty.

  • Everyone knows if there was no Hogan back in the 80's it woulda been Dusty who brought wrestling into the mainstream, either in the WWF or the NWA

  • tha man of tha hour, too sweet to be sour

He'll git funkay on yo monkay!!!

Da Dream is da bomb yo!!!

  • This man is blacker than me!! The greatest promo man of all time.

  • right, I need that hat.

  • Big Dust wuz runnin out of stuff to say at the end!!! lol

  • Hardly. If that is the case, toss in Abdullah, Crusher Blackwell and many others. Wrestling is not about who looks the best but who can put butts in the seats, especially back in the regional day. And, more than just about anyone in the 70's, Dusty put butts in the seats.

  • Dusty sounds sauced! Elvis and Dusty I wonder if they met LOL!

  • lol legend!

  • Hey babay, look at dat Lawler thing I goona whip yoo arse Lawler.

  • Dusty Rhodes is the man! Drivin" and Stylin"

  • That's the man

  • Dey got all dey childrens 'round da TV!

    Five stars.

  • Da got da dance'n bears round da' tv!!
