  • so one small question: how is the "2d to 3d conversion" via the LG software? I read this makes me able to play, for instance, Modern Warfare 3 in 3d modus, or watch 2d movies in 3d etc... so how does this work, and if it works at all - does it work properly?

Finally: is this graphical card enough?: MSI radeon hd 6850 OC edition (1gb ddr5), if you don't know it doesn't matter.

  • @staalborstel95 To do 2d to 3d conversion. Start -> All Programs -> TriDef 3D -> TriDef 3D Media Player, or right-click a supported media file (e.g. .flv, .ts) in Windows Explorer and choose "Play with TriDef 3D Media Player". There is an "Adjust 3D Scene Depth" popup slider, 0 no effect, 100 gives black bars at side of screen and makes me feel cross eyed. It's not a true 3D effect (left and right eyes do not see from different angles), more like screen edge moved for each eye.

  • @staalborstel95 I don't know about the graphcs card. My system (AMD Radeon HD 6450 with AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 2000 Mhz),

will just about play 3D blurays, but maybe not full frame rate and tends to crash after half an hour. I can play 3D HD SBS 1080p fine without problems.

  • @Ferret61 Okay, thanks for the info. I keep seeing more and more about the LG D2342P-PN, but nothing about the LG D2542P-PN, which is 2 inches larger. You don't happen to know anything about the LG D2542P-PN do you? If you do - is it any good? Also I read people saying that the LG D2342P-PN just wasn't good enough for gaming (to slow) and didn't look good for browsing etc. How are your experiences with this?

  • @staalborstel95 I would have bought the LG D2542P-PN if it had been available at a reasonable price in June 2011 (2 inches is a significant percentage increase on a "small" monitor). The LG D2342P-PN has been fine for browsing, but I have noticed some motion blur when watching football (I'm not a gamer).

  • @staalborstel95 Easy enough to answer. The 6850 is a good card. To this day it represents an excellent sweet spot between price and performance.

Even without 3D enabled you can run most of the fanciest games on medium to high settings.

WITH 3D enabled I wouldn't expect to run a game such as Skyrim (which looks great in 3D as far as I've heard!) above medium settings.

The gist is your card is fine but you may have problems if you want to max out a game such as BF3 with 3D on.

  • we are looking to get a portable tv for the bedroom as its much needed. was looking at this monitor as its pretty cheap. anybody know the compatibility for the home consoles? ive already seen a review to show that it works with an xbox 360, i also have a ps3 and would love to watch 3d bluray. is this monitor compatible?.. thank you

  • @mixindave1 I can confirm it works with a Samsung 3D C5900 Bluray player . Any other broadcast, game, and movie platforms are OK if they can output a HDMI 1.4a 3D format video signal frame packing 3D format at either 720p50 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p24, side-by-side horizontal at either 1080i50 or 1080i60, and top-and-bottom at either 720p50 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p24.

  • Hey! I am buying this same monitor sometime in the future, by any chance would you know if this graphics card is compatible with the monitor? AMD Radeon™ HD 6450 1GB DDR3 Thanks for the video by the way.

  • @starwars2078 What do you mean is the graphics card compatible with the monitor?

"sites.amd.com/us/recommended/Pages/hd3d-panels.aspx" states that is is a 'recommended' display to take advantage of HD3D, the 3D technology by AMD.

Running a game in 3D is a lot more graphically intensive than 2D. You WILL notice frame rate drops. If your card struggles already, things will only get choppier.

As a note; any graphics card is compatible. The question is: is the card powerful enough?

  • I don't see why not, your AMD card is Performance/Mid-range and has HDMI 1.4a.

  • £170 amazon ( i can return if i dislike it ) is this worth trying out? im looking to upgrade my monitor to a 1080p which this is, for my gaming and also i'd love to watch 3d content which is why this monitor attracts me. i have an 1GB AMD radeon 6850 do you think this could handle 3d gaming?

    cheers mate

  • how is the 2d and 3d quality ?

  • @FunnyUnleashed1 Hi FunnyUnleashed1, pretty good 2D, 3D OK for a first 3D monitor. If I was buying now I would go for the larger 27" screen.

  • @Ferret61 Thankyou just buying because of the price and it would be a nice addition to my gt5 setup :D

  • I have a quick question. Let's say I want to watch a movie in 3D. How do I watch it? Does the monitor convert it automatically or do I have to download/hire the movies? How does it work?

  • @mrmehdimedia Simplest way is to put a 3D blu-ray disc in a 3D blu ray player (with screen size set to 23") and connect it to 3D monitor with HDMI cable. If using a powerful PC with HDMI graphics card, you can use a bluray drive and player software e,g PowerDVD11. Otherwise you may rip to Side-By-Side 3D format which does not need such a fast PC to watch.

  • thanks it helped me very much

  • Hello !

so im buying a gaming computer

    i will have an i5 and a gtx 560

    Can i watch 3d ?

i mean like does the specs have anything to do with this 3d stuff ?

  • @PivotExWaiZed If you want to play games in 3D on your PC you will need a fast graphics card. I imagine by the price of a GeForce GTX 560 it should be good for that. To play 3D movies you don't need such a fast card, but ideally one that supports HDMI 1.4a e.g. AMD Radeon HD 6450 (£40), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (£120) / 480 / 570 (£250) Support for HDMI 1.4a including GPU accelerated Blu-ray 3D support,

  • So this one doesn't have 120hz refresh rate?

  • @RomanBMW no only 60 hz at 1080p it would be togood to be true at the price it is

  • lg lg lg why u making such products u don't have capacity to supply proper quantity in market i i am waiting from 2 month still no stock so what to do move to other or what to do i am at Hyderabad Andhra pradesh india

  • @palomarpadilla Google translate: hello, I want to buy this monitor but I have read many bad reviews about this product say it's too bad your 3d effect is that true, and have tested with 3D movies or video games and hopefully help me solve these questions I urgent. I hope your answer thanks.

My reply: I have seen a Panasonic big plasma screen 3D blu ray. The LG2342p is not as bright or clear as that, but is only 10% of the price, and also does not have the flickering glasses. Good value!

  • @palomarpadilla He visto una gran pantalla de plasma de Panasonic 3D Blu Ray. El LG2342p no es tan brillante o más claro, pero es sólo el 10% del precio, y no tiene las gafas parpadeo. Buena oferta!

  • i wonder if 720p is the higest u can have it for 3d ill have a hdmi with my monitor

  • @talespin23 No 1080p is the highest, but not a YouTube videos have this and my broadband often stutters at 1080p but can play 720p from YouTube OK.
