I see it as the unconscious expression of the consequences of the immigrant invasion of California (and the West), and the destructive ennui of cultural and racial dispossession. That was clear to see in 1999. I could see it and immediately heard the tacit despair in the song.
Losing California inch by inch for sure-- all while the controlled media shows us sunny beaches and shining vistas. (Don't you worry about that despair --- just 'turn up the radio')
Possibly the decline of society due to parasitic lifestyle going on in a state that is literally broke? Could Sloan have foreseen this coming back in 1999? I don't know but
somehow the song fits right in during these entitlement mentality times.
@hahohao Looks like a crane shot starts out the video, that takes some cash. Plus you have to hire the guy who makes the green screen edits fit in place properly. Also appears to be a pretty large space they had to rent out.
Ive seen them play live about 6 or 7 times, they have been my fave band for like 15 years, theyre super nice guys, and theyre from a neighboring province in Canada, theyre extremely talented. My fave sloan song ever is oh , i love them all !!!
@bmp001 Good point, I definitely didn't take the cost in the past into account. That being said, I don't understand why you would choose to word it in such an inflammatory manner.
@cieltsd he can word it how he pleases because he's never made a typing error in his life ;)...that and he knows that he won't have to fight you in homeroom on Monday morning....yay internet anonymity!

Maybe 60,000 to pay for renting the equipment and paying everyone? Just a guess. Lots of people are behind the scenes.

@AkuPoobah It's pure green screen. They could be in a 5 by 5 room space for all we know.

@epicdeuce are you kidding me? They're still rocking the suburbs, they're even opening for the Rolling Stones on a few dates.
