You write so beautifully.... if you have any poetry will you guide me to it?

    Peace, Layla

  • Joni was a flower child from the 60's; straight, long hair, long straight dresses and deep thinking. It came with the times of drugs and drop outs and the draft. She was the one of many who made it. We were all crying out back then and we all knew why. Musicians mixed with the masses and were the poets putting into words what was going on. After all these years pieces still fall off my heart when I hear her songs.

  • This was Her Goodbye to Graham Nash...

  • It's so sad to me that I'm 25 and had never heard this song (that i recall of) until last night. Yet I know every word of Carole King's "Tapestry" album, lol. I hope I can find this on vinyl.

  • @seonfox

You can find it on vinyl. Used, for sure. Some of her most popular albums have been Remastered and pressed on 180 Weight Vinyl. I have such a copy of "Ladies of The Canyon - The Album Before this... Check Amazon's Vinyl Store - That's where I got mine. If this song had that effect on you, wait till you hear the whole Album! A Masterpiece, for sure!

  • I try to write about my depression...sometimes I find I can't find the words. Overwhelming. This song epitomizes so MANY of my feelings. I should bring this into session so my a**hole therapist can GET WHAT I'M FEELING!

  • For Emma .

  • I haved loved Joni all my life (since I was a teen), and it is great that so many people in the world love her, too. I still love her, even though she is not a soprano anymore. We still have all her recordings, and her recordings as an alto are not something to be disregarded. We love you, Joni!.

  • I still think about her.. and I hope she doesn't get lost in these myriad of comments.. Her memory might find her way through each word.. and can demonstrate a melded comment of how astonishing she was...

  • Goddess Joni!

  • jessica from the veronicas sent me here :)

  • I love what Joni can do with her voice. I hadn't heard this song before - it's gorgeous!

  • I absolutely agree with Joni that "hell is not the hippest way to go out"! In any case, Joni continues to make this wonderful heart-wrenching music that touches the listener deep down in his or her soul! BobbyK

  • @kj8636 I remember when my dad died three years ago, I did the same sort ofthing got angry pushed away my friends and drowned myself in anger and stopping having fun and being normal cause I was the only a week away from my seventeenth birthday... but my dad had told me Joni Mitchell was a great musician that summer, and her music really got me out of that rut I was in. So yes she is amazing.

  • Sorry to hear of the recent loss of your mother, but please know that love & happiness are waiting for you down the road . In an instant, our lives can be forever changed - learning to live with that change and embracing it is always challenging, but with the help of a higher power, you'll get thru! Please know that better things are ahead.

    Brightest blessings always,

    KJ8636

  • This song is so full of beautifully honest heartbreak. She serves such truth in her poetry and delivery. You can feel every bit of emotion running throughout your body when listening to this. It breaks down all of my walls. One day, I want to be an artist just like this. Joni Mitchell is incredible.

  • R.I.P Blue I love you

  • This is so absurdly beautiful

  • 1:14 - 1:18

  • I really started to listen to Joni Mitchell after the death of my mother in 1988. I was only 27 years old. Little did I know that while I was seeking to lose myself in the death of my mother, Joni was seeking to find her daughter, which she had given away at birth. I drowned myself in a maze of booze and liazons, all to no avail. This was truly my "blue period." She is really amazing. Who knew!

  • @ChiroQuacker you are quite clearly a fucking dickhead. Go choke
