Joni was a flower child from the 60's; straight, long hair, long straight dresses and deep thinking. It came with the times of drugs and drop outs and the draft. She was the one of many who made it. We were all crying out back then and we all knew why. Musicians mixed with the masses and were the poets putting into words what was going on. After all these years pieces still fall off my heart when I hear her songs.

So yes she is amazing.

I really started to listen to Joni Mitchell after the death of my mother in 1988. I was only 27 years old. Little did I know that while I was seeking to lose myself in the death of my mother, Joni was seeking to find her daughter, which she had given away at birth. I drowned myself in a maze of booze and liazons, all to no avail. This was truly my "blue period." She is really amazing. Who knew!
