@islandpondrr So they made rails for you? That's awesome! I'm using T section bars, but I haven't wheels (I have grooved wheels, but they certainly don't work when I pass a switch). Can you tell me where did you find them? Thanks
If you have machining capability you can turn grooved wheels into flanged wheels. I have made flanged wheels from steel caster wheels. You can buy wheels from Tom Bee or maybe find them on ebay.
It really isn't designed for outdoor use but that's where it gets used. I needed a high volume fan and that one fills the bill. It is used to keep me cool and keep the mosquitos away while I'm doing track work. - Bill
The only reason they tell you not to use an indoor fan outdoors is because of rain and to cover their ass from lawsuits. There's nothing wrong with using a fan outdoors.
In this scale/gauge we generally don't go by the pound, especially since most of us use aluminum rail. What I buy is called "Heavy Western Profile" and it is 1.0" tall and runs about
one pound to the yard. Where to get it depends on where you live, since it's heavy and it costs a lot to ship it. I get mine from Argyle Industries of Branchburg, New Jersey.
@islandpondrr Thanks. I work with the "real thing" but find this a fascinating hobby to watch. Really nice video. A lot of work involved. Congrats to you.
Is there a source for "light rail" that is not aluminum that you know of? Old mining track or something like that?
There are actually a few suppliers of light steel rail for industrial uses including mining. It is available in various sizes and is popular in the 9 to 12 pound range. Hobbyists that are into larger scales use plenty of that. I have a friend in Massachusetts that uses 9 pound. I also have some steel rail in my scale/gauge that runs about 3 pounds to the yard.
A man and his toys. Love it!!! Thanks for sharing.

@islandpondrr Have a contact for me for the larger size? I've tried googling it and outside of China and a used supplier in Canada can't find any
