what you fail to realise is that nearly your entire economy depend on consumer spending. you stop spending and the economy will fail faster. what you need to do is encourage job creation, which is why Obama has already said that he wants a re-build the US's infrastructure. when people have jobs, people spend money. furthermore, paying off your national debt is actually impossible. Europe put together probably doesn't have the funds to pay off the US's debt. so don't even bother.

Government spending on something USEFUL, like improving our infastructure, would help the economy. We're not seeing much of that, as evidenced by over one-billion dollars being spent on a 12-person panel to sit around and think.
Our economy is based on consumer spending though......over 75% actually. And over half of what the average american buys are luxury items. Meaning whats really keeping the economy going is all those frills and not needed items. Unemployment has actually been going down since October, but when I said stabilized, I meant the most recent numbers are where they were five months ago. That seems relatively stable, with a slight downward trend.
Bonus statistic: You bring up that unemployment doesn't count "discouraged workers", but a daily gallup poll does count them in "underemployment" which has a 52 week high of 20% and a 52 week low of 19%. Seems stable.
The only time I can recall that Keynesian economics has been disproved in practice is the late 70's early 80's recession, which was a supply shock rather than a demand shock, which we currently happen to be entrenched in. I don't believe the "created or saved" numbers either, because we'd have rebounding employment by now, but the fact that unemployment numbers have stabilized before the bulk of the stimulus money has been spent is reassuring.

A few of my friends and I got together and tried to spread the word and get like 500 sigs, that we did, yet only a few people still had their backpacks. Unemployment has actually been going down since October, but when I said stabilized, I meant the most recent numbers are where they were five months ago. That seems relatively stable, with a slight downward trend.
Bonus statistic: You bring up that unemployment doesn't count "discouraged workers", but a daily gallup poll does count them in "underemployment" which has a 52 week high of 20% and a 52 week low of 19%. Seems stable.

The only time I can recall that Keynesian economics has been disproved in practice is the late 70's early 80's recession, which was a supply shock rather than a demand shock, which we currently happen to be entrenched in. I don't believe the "created or saved" numbers either, because we'd have rebounding employment by now, but the fact that unemployment numbers have stabilized before the bulk of the stimulus money has been spent is reassuring.

Federal Reserve is privately owned, and was given the power to put it's stamp on our money, then charge congress with interest on the money is allowed Congress to print, which has, and is the only one allowed to truly decide and print money. So the Fed is supposed to somehow make $1.50 when it lent only $1 in the first place. Debt = Control.

The so called "National debt" is a lie. The Fed charges the U.S. Government a fee for printing money. This percentage is added to circulation but the money is never printed. So there is no way to recoup the cost. It's a trick to make you feel guilty about something that you have no control over whatsoever. It's about conrol. Stop believing in it.

Alright, you're right to an extent, but it's difficult to develop new economic stimuli and plans without creating massive risk to not only America's economy, but the world's.
