I'd heard of this show and how awful it is. But when he mentioned that con-artist Mary Baker Eddie, it all started to come together and make sense. Not only did she make up a religion out of nothing and spend time lying to people to make them eschew actual medical treatment, but a literary analysis by Mark Twain proved she was also plagiarizing much of her writings from multiple authors
