  • bravissimo

  • Thanks alot mate

  • Damn it I can't wait to get an electric to play this on.

My acoustic guitar doesn't even have access to frets past 14, it's pretty impossible.

  • @RealKengeki I can play this solo on an acoustic

  • @HaistaPaska92 It's playable but i have to keep my left hand flat. My guitar isnt cut below the neck so you cant access 15 and 17 without pulling your thumb our from below the neck

  • @RealKengeki with enough practice you can stretch the ring finger to the 15th fret without moving your thumb, the bend is quite tricky but still doable. And this solo doesn't go below the 15th fret. The second solo is a different matter altogether

  • Proud to say this is the first solo I just learned to play! :')

  • @TheAmbitioned good for you bro :)

  • Hey you-Justin

id just like to say thanks alot for all of your lessons

ive been learning from you for over a year now and ive progressed very much thanks to you

we really need more people like u in this world

    peace brother.

  • lets talk effects?

  • you are my fucking hero ! aweosme guy ! cool ! funny as shit! love you

  • Hi Justin. Thanks for doing this video. This is one of my favorite solos. Quick question. The 7th fret to 9th hammer-on pulloff at 4:44. Is that a 16th note triplet and then regular 8th notes on the a's and e's? I just started playing guitar, but have been playing the drums for 9 years. It is a litte bit difficult making the adjustment keeping time on a guitar. Any suggestions?

  • Gilmour is the only reason I bought a Fender Stratocaster

  • @radiohm3 Me too.

  • awsome job fella...great tutorials....

    nice showbiz name too.

  • at last!!! i knew it!! not all justin likes crap music :D

  • I'd just like to say thanks....... to you justin, for all your hard work you put in for all of us learning guitar. I and others really, really appreciate this so much and are very gratefull....................

  • i'm a begginer and i want to play this fantastic song by pink floyd...but without justin i can't do it....thank you very much...you're fantastic

  • humm ?; new guitar ?

  • exelent my friend

  • im glad that somebody can actually teach, rather than just playing it in slo motion. well done

  • hi i have a few question,s what type of gear did you use? and second what gauge strings are u using 8 or 9? btw nicely done you are a great teacher.

  • good job . . .

gilmoure is one of the best . . .

  • All I see is rosewood and frets, and you don't really over-talk this one. I have to say that this is a great job. I have commented on a few of your other "Less-Good" vids and suggested a job...well, just like this??? And you were, shall we say less than grateful for the suggestion last time. But hey I don't care if your rude as a person, as long as you turn on the great close up less talk vids like this. Again great job here. Feel free to say something classy like last time if it helps you.

  • that double no pick bend is a tough one...

  • What pedals were you using???

  • this is such a bitch'n song

  • once again fantastic lesson justin, really appreciate all of your videos.

    great teacher

  • you're so cute :3

  • If there are more people like you...

  • Thanks for this GREAT lesson! now i finaly know how to play it right.. i just have to put more feeling in it! :)

  • good job as usual

  • justin youre great is there a way to have the tabs for tis solo please great job from mexico

  • You are Fito!

  • great lesson as always. ... gonna take me a lot of practice but it will be worth the effort.

    Thank you.

  • Very good job mate

  • dude, i went on your site. those publishing basterds... they threatened to sue him unless he removed the tabs for the songs so that they could make a few extra $. don't they realise that we can get the tabs elsewhere...

  • realy the best teacher and utube guitar lesson

  • its actually 2 frets over to the right of the A pentatonic.. Not sure y i said one to the left. wasnt really thinking.

  • its in the key of Bm. a half step down from your A pentatonic. everything goes over one fret to the left.

  • thank you...this helps me out alot...you are the man.

  • what effects?

  • THAT GUITAR SOUNDS SWEET M8

  • superb thanks

  • could some one tell which key is this in and over what chord this solo is being played ? i think its minor pentatonic but what chord those notes that we play for the very first lick are member of ?

  • @kasra82 I think its the key of A.

  • are u sure? it seems to me (im just an intermediate blues minor pentatonic learner) that the first lick (@2:20) is part of a F# chord by looking at the bend he is making. the first note he uses to introduce the lick is also F# .. any thoughts ?

  • Great job Justin, I think we should remember that not even Gilmour played the exact same notes all the time. That is why we have different versions, if you listen to Hendrix play, His music changed from concert to concert, depending on how he felt. As long as we get fairly close people will know what the song is.

  • WOW..I play guitar only four months and Justin taught me this in only one hour..well it isn´t sound perfect and I have only accoustic guitar but this is so awesome..thanx alot..

  • My friend...YOU ARE THE BEST !!!

  • good Job Justin!

  • thx

  • nice stat!!!

  • Thank you Justin!

  • hey does anyone know how i can set my amp up to make it sound right when im playin these solos? like the bass, treble, mid, gain,?

  • are you actually using the mesa amp, or is it just in the background?

  • just in the background. End of last vid in series shows my set up! J

  • Unbelievable. Fantastic job. Even if its not 100% correct.

  • ur god...!

wn i get my first salary..

    am donating 2 ur site....!

  • but you have echo, i dont:S

  • YEAH!

  • lol i've been waiting for that lesson for agaes, thank you so much!!!!

  • wait i wanna know how to do the grace nooootes!!

  • even though pink floyd solos are not fast they do have alot of bending and vibrato and that to do perfectly requires tons of practice

  • This guy is great

  • i love this solo.... you can really see the influence of this in the solo to "everything changes" staind.

  • i love gilmours solos...they are so simple yet so bad ass...

  • Lol simple? Yea they ain't fast or anything. But it's something diffrent to play it with the same feel as he does!

  • they are simple...you must not really study other solos...compare this to led zeppelin or kiss or clapton and you will see that gilmours solos are the easiest to transcribe and play...

  • yea ofcourse lol. But it isn't true that they are the easiest to play... That are solo's like smells like teen spirit... This has a lot of feeling in it and you realy have to make sure the bends are right etc... It's slow and easy, but playing it exactly right isn't as easy as it looks...

  • true but bends are in every good solo.... what i meant by my comment saying that gilmours solos are the easiest to transcribe and play was that gilmours solos are the easiest out of the list of bands that i mentioned....i didnt mean he has the easiest solos ever...lol...but when people want to learn solos i always say start to transcibe solos from pink floyd or zz top because they are really easy to hear and their solos are based on basic guitar scales....

  • Yea that's true. And most solo's are basic guitar scales... But the details in this, there is more on guitar then fretting the right frets you know :p

  • true they may be slower but u have to focus more to make it sound just right

  • yea thats what i said :D If you think gilmore is easy to play, you're totaly wrong xd This might be slow but evry detail has to be right or it sounds terrible. In fast solo's you can even play a wrong note and don't hear it...

  • "Justin" you have actually excelled your self this time. Hope you got as much enjoyment from making these lessons, as i am getting out every second of them. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY TOP THIS ONE. *********

  • End of the day it sound great, its free and very well explained, as a floyd fan this solo is probably the best that gilmour ever did!!

    Cheers!!

  • Thank You .

  • great lesson mate gottit in no time

  • thanks a ton justin.... great lesson...

  • Thanks mate, you are excellent.

  • You are a wonderful teacher and give us all great lessons nevertheless this one is not up to your standard. It's rushed and sloppy, not up to your standards.

  • Come on! Give the man a break he is probably busy but still takes the time to put this up for free. He says you have to listen to the song yourself a lot of times to really get the Gilmour tricks.

  • It's true he is profoundly kind to give so much knowledge away.

  • wish there were more teachers like you in the world

  • its G major or B minor i now their relatives, but he seem to mix then in some part , he plays C and and then C#

  • really good

  • thanks

  • could you do cannon rock in one of your lessons please

  • Thanks! great solo

  • thx 4 da help dude. u rock da house! (and play a mena guiatr as well). ;)

  • hey justin nice guitar i would love to know what guitar that is or if any one could tell me that would be great thanks

  • Fender Stratocaster, white.

  • I'm about 99% sure it's a Fender Custome Shop Jeff Beck Strat.

  • It that the new guitar you were talking about buying a while ago Justin?

  • you only learnt it a few hours before making this video and you can play it that well!

    You are a legend Justin.

  • not that hard at all, but that is because justin is the teacher............. Justin for King of the world!!!!!!!

  • Isnt the first tone suppose to be played as an harmonic?

  • Justin, you rule! 5*****

  • Hey J, you're developing a unique style with the hat and T-shirt man. We'll soon be recognising ya from style as well as top teaching & performing!

Is your CD out yet? I'll go look on Amazon.

    5 stars.

  • Awesome 5*

  • apply for a partnership

  • my favorite solo

  • Another great lesson.

ONE suggestion. when you perform the solo at the start, if you could do it to a backing track it would really help it sort of glue together.

  • justin ur a legend bud, what a great surprise it was to login and find lessons dedicated to this awesome awesome track, i spent ages learning these solos and now cant wait to watch ur vids and polish up on my mistakes, thx mate.

  • David gilmour ftw! nice lesson!

  • a new guitar out there

    nice fender dude :d

  • 2nd solo (part 1) is uploading now... part 2 of it is still compressing in Final Cut, so that will be a while yet I'm afraid. Then I have to edit the chord video, and then scan in the tabs and make the web pages. Been a nightmare doing all this and taken all day! :) So you better like it, or I'll set my cat onto you :) ha ha

  • I've been looking for a Comfortably Numb video for a LONG time!! Thank you so much!

  • lol of course we like it i already KNOW the solos but i will watch this lessons on comfortably numb so a i can MASTER it

  • i loved it..... dont u have people that edit for you so that u can consentrate on ur playing?

  • normally he has,

    he calls him/her "jedi-master"

He also does a lot of the website work...

    Hope I answerred your question.

    cheers

  • u did thanks

  • I wish - Jedi only edits stuff for things that are going to DVD, he did the beginners course cos that is going onto DVD, but otherwise I do all the editing and web pages and all that...

  • Your really putting an effort in for this, its great

  • Comfortably numb !! :D
