I'm feeling that the poor translation gave Miss Simpson the wrong idea. She didn't say she chose beauty over a better appartment. She said she chose feeling good about herself over a better appartment. I find it funny how you can distort everything. I am a brazilian girl in her twenties and, of course, I do know people who had plastic surgery, most of them had nose jobs. But the majority of people, even those with money, never had one. The pressure exists as it exists in any contemporary media-oriented culture, you have to look good to be sucessful. But it is far away from being considered normal to have a lot of surgical procedures, that is just sensationalist american bullshit.

you have no idea how many makeup artists are laughing at you right now because you look at these celebrities and say, "OMFG it's so OBVIOUS all the plastic surgery they've had!" When it's so easy to completely change someone's face with makeup, even a spray tan can utilise high/low lights to change someones body shape. I'm a fan of Jessica Simpson but its pretty obvious that she too has had plastic surgery. She's had her lips done, her nose done (she had reshaping but kept the bump) and she did something to her eyes...its very obvious if you look at her back in 1999 when she first came out. I don't really know if shes had her breasts done recently, at one point they were definitely real but now I questions whether or not she's had a lift. I wish Jessica would've come clean about this.

Its interesting how Americans have a sense of moral superiority in all their judgments. What they fail to realize is that unfortunately, in most societies, a woman's beauty is more of an asset to her in the long run than some extra money she might save for a better place to live. I love the energy that was obviously in the air. Americans, whatever, they are just that way...overpriveledged and out of touch with reality. I absolutely adored the "golden shower" too. What they showed on this tv show is a way way distorted image of how's things around here. It is absolutely nothing like this in the real world. This was just made up for an interview.
Not everybody has plastic surgery. Not everybody's priority is a plastic surgery than a home, food, child etc. Not everybody's feel good about themselves. And not everybody's shallow as this tv show wanna sound we are. People have others priorities and things don't always end up at a samba's party.

you have no idea how many makeup artists are laughing at you right now because you look at these celebrities and say, "OMFG it's so OBVIOUS all the plastic surgery they've had!" When it's so easy to completely change someone's face with makeup, even a spray tan can utilise high/low lights to change someones body shape. Let alone all the crazy amounts of airbrushing you see in photos anyway. It's SUPER easy to fool the human eye.

I'm a fan of Jessica Simpson but its pretty obvious that she too has had plastic surgery. She's had her lips done, her nose done (she had reshaping but kept the bump) and she did something to her eyes...its very obvious if you look at her back in 1999 when she first came out. I don't really know if shes had her breasts done recently, at one point they were definitely real but now I questions whether or not she's had a lift. I wish Jessica would've come clean about this.

@L2design IT'S not True girl , poor people there doesn't do plastic surgery , that woman was a exception. The most people that do plastic there are people rich and people who lives with a normal life, but poors people there doens't do that !

Everything full of bullshit, the try to show a horrible Brazil, they tried to say that we are uglies and everybody makes plastics. Why they do not say that Brazil is still behind of USA with platics and from the people who makes that in Brazil half of them are not Brazilians but american because they know that ´is good and cheap from them. Stupied people should not be at television talking about of things that they do not have no idea, at least the should try to know how things really are.

They just showed a distorted and shallow image of Brazil. Most women in Brazil haven't gone through any procedures and don't wear an ounce of makeup and they are still absolutely gorgeous. I've been living in the States for many years, and everytime I go back to Brazil I am amazed to see how beautiful the brazilian women are.
That woman Angela became known exactly for having an abnormal number of procedures, that is not considered normal there.
