After a few day's I removed the bowl. Removed all lose items from the bathroom. Placed food and water with her bed and went to work. Came home and the cat was using the toilet. Used lot's of prases. I wonder if it helped that she would sit outside the door when anyone used the bathroom.

@biankak2000 it wont get cold most likely. If the cat is hairless it probaly will, if its not it has tons of fur to keep it warm, but you should tell your mom that when a storm/bad weather comes in that she needs to bring it inside, and maybe a cut off area so it wont get around the house if she doesnt want it in :)
From what I understand, any cat at any age can learn this process. However I feel its best to teach at a young age, since that is when habits are best learned :-)

@Fox1n5ocks One idea is to use those chlorine toilet blocks (like "2000 Flushes") in the rear tank. The chlorine odor should prevent the cat from drinking the water. Hopefully, the odor won't keep the cat from using the toilet.

@BRYAN351 That's a bad idea. Cat's have very sensitive digestive systems and can be very easily poisoned by chemicals. I would avoid products like this if you don't want a very sick kitty.
@psyjax2 You might be right, but I assumed that cats would avoid water that smelled like bleach. I suppose vinegar would be a non-toxic alternative, but the downside is you would have to pour some in after every flush.

Cats can & will fall into the toilet while attempting to use it. You can always leave the last size training ring in to help stop that. Buying the "padded" type of toilet seat where they can grip with claws can help too. Build a ramp up for small, young cats & be prepared to do it when they are older too. At some point in an older cats life, the toilet will be too much for them to be able to climb up on or balance. Remember not to use a toilet cleaner that stays in the bowl or tank.

I had spent money on citi kitty or whatever. and it was working pretty well. while i was changing (actually tediously cutting out) onw of the rings, my cat used the toilet w/o the rings. but during the training, i went to the next ring too quickly and there was no going back... or taping the last ring back on. but THIS one... u just SWITCH the rings!!! @msKingoFanime I know the answer to some of those questions. #1: You can get the trick at a pet store or online (I think). #2: You need to flush the toilet yourself after the cat is done. #3: If your cat falls in it will jump out depending on its size, and if it can't get out just carefully lift it out of the toilet.
if you want to flush cat feces, you might want to get them tested for the parasite toxoplasma gondii. it is often found in cat feces, and it is not destroyed by sewage treatment. In california, it is the leading cause of death for sea otters. If you care about animals like you care about your cat, make sure you are not part of this problem.

My cat pees on the toilet and does the rest on the kitty litter. No one taught him to use the toilet to pee, he started doing it by himself after watching the men in the house doing it.

my cat learned on his own, he just didnt like using litter, after a few weeks of seeing no more poop in his litter i got rid of it, and he used the toilet everyday until he died of kidney failure the following year, i miss little mcdoogle

@frodo284 Great job frodo284! Only suggestion is that a non slippery toilet seat would be helpful for the cat. The wooden ones work much better and my cat has an easier time of balancing without slipping.

Has the cat ever fallen in the toilet? Have you ever regrettedteaching that trick or thought pooping in the same toilet is bad? and finally about the litter....... Do you need to teach your cat how to regulary go to the bathroom first?

My cat pees on the toilet and does the rest on the kitty litter. No one taught him to use the toilet to pee, he started doing it by himself after watching the men in the house doing it.
However, I cannot teach him to do *everything* on the toilet. Any suggestions?
I've tried moving the litter box next to the toilet and them removing it, but he makes the crap on the floor instead of on the toilet. :/

@Yunituber I think you need to get a training thingy for the inside of the potty, so the cat knows it has to go on the rim to do his business, then, you can take it away when it's used to it?

@THEsecretmermaid1 I was thinking the same...but I assume just everytime you go to use it take their litter bowl out...it seems like it would be rather annoying but its only until they learn to use the toilet seat alone, so in the end should be worth it.

my cat learned on his own, he just didnt like using litter, after a few weeks of seeing no more poop in his litter i got rid of it, and he used the toilet everyday until he died of kidney failure the following year, i miss little mcdoogle

@frodo284 Great job frodo284! Only suggestion is that a non slippery toilet seat would be helpful for the cat. The wooden ones work much better and my cat has an easier time of balancing without slipping.

@frodo284 yeah uhhh one thing...if the cat has mastered to use the toilet.....will it go to the same toilet that we first train them or they will use any toilets around the whole house cuz I am planning to train it in my study room but my cat is sleeping with me in my bedroom and I'm afraid that my cat will poop on my bed or on the floor...so do I have to train it in my study room or in my bedroom....

2800 dollars over 20 years is really not that bad lol. an average 250000 dollar house loan will end up costing you well over 500000 dollars over the coarse of 30 years...seems like chump change to care for your kitty. people who don't "get" this don't have a cat! I have two cats and they fill the litter box so fast that my house always smells like a cat box. It would be really nice to not have to clean their crap everyday smelly pee everyday AND have the pleasure of owning a cat. Cat's are great, but the litter box really sucks

2) if your 2 cats are filling the litter box so fast, your clearly feeding them way too often!
3) their pee only smells strong if your not watering down their cream or what ever.
4) i would NEVER let a child use the same toilet as an ANIMAL....
