10,000 years ago? Really? That's interesting, I thought the Irish were descended from the Scythians, but if they came 10,000 years ago, that would be an anachronism. Oh! Now I'm confused. So, where did the Irish come from??? I'm curious, I'm Irish-American. I want to know.
@JasonCaesare The Irish didn't really come from the Scythians. That's only a legend from the Mythological Cycle of Irish mythology. People first came to Ireland by a land bridge that connected the British Isles with Continental Europe. They're the people who would have madse this music. Later Celts from Central Europe came to Ireland and the natives were assimilated into their culture. The Celts died out in Europe so now they only remain in the Celtic Nations. Hope this helps :)
I love music Ireland and the sound of instruments aerophones: uilleann pipes, tin whistle, flute, but the tools of the video are a rarity, have an incredible sound.
Fascinating. I like how the horn is played in a similar fashion to the didjeridu, I think I saw another video about a Sythian Horn that was made out of wood and had its mouthpiece on the side and its sound reminded me of the didjeridu.
At the end, with the credits, there is a trumpet (or ancient horn) plus something that seems like a human voice, singing: are there any instruments that can produce a similar sound?
This is great work guys, thanks for enlightening me - my husband found his dna linked to Niall of the nine hostages - he must have had a big horn on Tara!
Great!! I love this!!! Can someome please tell me where I can found music of this kind??? And specially I wish I would listen some of those mysterious bone flutes at the end...
(...) stirring, gut wrenching, soul enthusiasm described by our fellow Irishman, was also felt by me. And I'm brazilian, with many european ancestor, but none irish.
Let's commune with the FEELING, the MUSIC. Everything else is secondary.
Prehistoric music defies all concepts. State, nationality, religion. The religion of the Old Way nothing has to do with this quarrels of modern religions, that prey in the ignorant and lie about blind obedience to achieve 'a reward elsewhere'.
As it was said here, event 'celtic' can't apply, since it is from before the Kelts coming to the islands was not before 700 b.C., and some of these instruments are as far as1000 b.C. I just want to say that all the thrill, all the enthusiasm and blood(..)
You are wrong, this music is still from the same people who have the same blood as the people who are Irish, British and European, NOT African, Arab or Chinese. They have their own, and we Europeans have ours. Blood transcends time. The music you hear is an expression of our genes interacting with our environment, a land fought and sweated over, so that they could have a secure land upon which to base their existance, upon which they could then express themselves.

A defiant voice of truth, for Irish men and women who care for their people, their country, their land, their future and their children.
Very impressive. I'd never seen or heard of any of those instruments before. This man should be given a medal - if he hasn't already been given one - for his contributions to Irish culture. Wonderful stuff!
ii)As if a people of the same blood as mine, blood of my blood and flesh of my flesh, soul of my soul, as though they were my very own mother and father, sister and brother, my very own son or daughter, family and race, called out again to me, one of their own. Their souls and mine, clenched hands entwined, reached out, crossed time, united again, we were one and the same.
I felt the surge of unbridled energy build from the ground and rush through every bone, sinew and muscle. A massive flood of power coursed right through me as a tide of adrenalin and furious elation surged through every cell. At once I could feel something very familiar, as if I had heard it or played it myself before, as before a hunt or battle or great feast or ritual with my people....my ancient Irish blood.

An old Irish woman once said she once played the "skin flute". Is that what they mean by "horny"? :D

BTW, I'd be glad to pay for a copy, is it possible to send a download to me directly? I don't want to wait while it ships over here from Ireland.
