1. the af system of this lens is basically one of the non USM lens for canon

2. you won't buy a Tamron if you are going for a eos 1d mk4

Focusing is not an issue if u have sony or pentax as motor is built into the body!

on canons too. but motors inside the lens performs better, just like a lens-IS.

I bought this lens and returned it after one day. The autofocus is very slow. On top of this it becomes very inaccurate as you loose some light. I don't mean in the dark but I tested this against some of my cheaper Nikon lenses and the Tamron would not focus in the same conditions where the Nikons would. By the way, motor in the body or in the lens does not matter. The motor only moves the mechanical parts of the lens to focus. The camera determines the focus, not the motor.
