  • I love reading the comments about this. Fun story, that's actually me in the video. I was a sophomore in high school and I learned how to control my flutter tongue very well. I wrote a short rendition of "Flight of the Bumblebee" after watching Alan Raph's video on how to play it. Then I made this. Everybody here is over-analyzing it too much lol. I'm 10 times the player I was then, its funny to go back and watch this piece of history.

  • q bosta é essa :(

  • Great :) now use your feet!

  • umm......

  • controlled flutter tonguing?

  • Jesus fuck that is cool

  • This is in javads center in NYC, been there!!!

  • @martingauba Actually, it is in the Ramada Inn in Paintsville Kentucky. That's me playing lol. Didn't think this video still existed. Man I've come a long way since then.

  • Fake it's fastfowarded

  • @Tromboner1998 Nope. That's me playing it lol. Its just a controlled Flutter Toungue.

  • if there is anybody out there who thinks that this is bad, then i really think that they should try to play this

  • Flight of the bumble bee has actual notes guys this dude is slow flutter tounging and moving the slide

  • @chstrombone11 I agree, but it's still SO F-ING COOL!!!

  • @chstrombone11 Do you even fucking play trombone? moving the slide IS how you play!

  • he needs some work

  • @southpa13

    Then you try it.

  • I call BS. Nope.

  • guys he isnt gurgling water hes flutter tounging

  • ;D Nice.

  • Why gurgling water?

  • That is really dumb all music should be open to any instrument to play as they wish. And yeah it is a hard song for a trombone player to play, but that is what makes this song so awesome. Someday a trombone player will play this excellent so until then all of the other people commenting on this saying trombones shouldn't try playing this grab your instrument and play this song excellently. Upload the video too thanks ^_^ Awesome performance :) My turn to try on Trombone.

  • Based on your clothes, shouldn't you be at your concert?

  • @rcskating Lol. This was right before the concert.

  • Flight Of The Bumblebee should NOT be played on trombone...even though its sounds really good on here...and i now know that it can be played on trombone...it shouldnt be!!!!

  • Ok I am sorry but I do not think that song should be played on trombone, although I think you did an amazing job, trombones cannot do that and sound nice

  • Oh sorry thts a man

  • fake , you increases the velocity and pitch of the video , look at the lamps , it moves faster , as the person who is recording has a vibration on his hands... but thats cool :)

  • @FNPFAR Nope. That was me playing there. 100% real my friend. Bravo for looking into it that much though. That's awesome.

  • nice mullet

  • i bet he gives his gf good orgasms

  • that was not good, reay not good

  • that is.. SHIT!!! God that was horrible! The positions for the main part were wrong as hell! You start out in 2nd and work your way down to 6th and come back up. ewwwwww

  • @dalt86966 lets see you do it

  • @KhsBandvids I can play it actually thank you very much. I dont have a camera right now and my trombone is at the music store getting the bell restored and the spit valve is getting replaced.

  • @dalt86966 Yep lol. I think Wycliffe Gordon said it best though, "Some trombonists such as Arthur Pryor were able to play things with wrong positions".

  • HOLY SHIT I CAN BARELY PLAY EIGHTH NOTES!!!!! O_o

  • hes FLUTTER TONGUING its when you roll your R's while your playing

  • lol how the heck did you play that fast

  • @thaunmystical flutter tongueing and flexing his embochure in time

  • Amazing!

  • this was just sped up

  • trombone just got raped.

  • spasms

  • and nice mullet

  • Couldn't really understand what you were trying to play?

  • Wow

  • lol, I think it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to play it on trombone

  • this guy must be good at masturbating

  • ...... - nuff said

  • Well, he wasn't double tonguing, but flutter tonguing.

  • Gosh I gotta learn how to double tounge.

  • i wish ppl in our band tried that hard! *cough bieber cough*

  • I wish i could double tongue :(

  • impossible.

  • excellent try,but not quite.Still need valves,my low brass brother.Way to give it hell though.

  • da hell?

  • @shotgunpuppgy You are correct, this is not bublebee. Anyone think we are wrong, try searching it and this will not come up.

  • This isn't even close to flight of the bumblebee. Lazy ass.

  • @jheaver1 well actually it is... do your research before typing. Would like to see you try it

  • @shotgunpuppy Do my research?? I'm a music educator and a musicologist. I've done more than enough research, thank you very much. And if you knew "Flight of the Bumblebee", you would know that this is a made-up failure of a reenactment. Yeah....do YOUR research before typing.

  • @jheaver1 post a video on youtube playing flight of the bumblebee. Untill then your wrong

  • For some reason I like the sound much better on this instrument then any other.

  • Comment removed

  • CHILIDOG!!

  • Nice flutter tongue bro.

  • after this i would deff got 22s lol

  • Its good but keep practicing and youll get even better.

  • I'm not impressed because you're just playing random shit while flutter tonguing. You can't make out the actual song. Play it slower and try again.

  • @MrHeavanell ...That's correct. I'm a brass player.....of over sixty years....and you are just playing shit. Don't post silly stuff like that.....makes you look dumb.

  • @GutpileCharlie I'm the one playing and I agree. What was I thinking? Who knows lol.

  • Not convinced it's sped up. I think it's just flutter tonguing and hoping that it sounds somewhere near right rather than putting the slide in the position to hit every note.

  • shit

  • even though its fast as hell, it takes skill. you sir, are good.

  • GEEZUS

now im gonna learn how to do this just so I can beat you kukuku

  • Its good, too band its sped up.

  • @albinometal501 the show of virtuosity is impressive, but I dont think its sped up. it doesnt really sound that good...

  • @ieatbunnies3 But if you watch closely you can tell its sped up. When i video is sped up it looks laggy and thats how this video looks like.

  • sounded like a load of big foots shit fell in the blender

the tone was good and you can play fast i can tell your good, but i as a trombone player as well have accepted that flight of the bumblebee is just not meant for trombone

  • @macknight88 i play trombone as well.. have for 9 years.. i beg to differ. watch this video.

    /watch?v=GFbSHWBjuuQ

  • @macknight88 agreed <9000

  • @macknight88 Not meant for SLIDEtrombone......

  • @macknight88 Not meant for SLIDE trombone......

  • Bullshit - there are exceptional recordings - for example that by Christian Lindberg. These are very clean and accurate - unlike the careless rendition above.

  • @trombonecolin2011 I agree, and I'm the one playing.

  • @macknight88 It can be played on the trombone. watch?v=VcqRtNCtJ9k

This guy playing it here is just tonguing fast and moving the slide, its not even recognizable as flight of the bumblebee.

  • @macknight88 try listening to Flight of the Bumblebee by Tommy Pederson.

  • Wha-

  • Who says student don't have too much time on their hands........

  • This is obviously Flutter tonguing Its more like the flight of the retarded Dolphin

  • @bryon2217 Hahahahah! oh damn that was funny

  • @bryon2217 I'd like to see you play that

  • @LulzGenerator1023 (: relax bro, In no way was I trying to impose that the guy was a bad player I was simply stating that his tonguing was not proper and that flight of the bumblebee is simply not a piece of music that is suited for the Trombone.

  • @bryon2217 fluttertonguing? no. either double or triple tonguing. the tonguing is too clean for flutter.

  • Theres a difference between flutter and double tonging

  • WOW:-O

  • @ttyy112 That's what she says!!!

  • I SO WISH I COULD PLAY THAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • us trombs rock

  • I'm not an expert, but that is definitely flutter tonguing.

  • lol it DOES sound like a dolphin! an angry dolphin

  • Yeah, but can he play ppp... Cut your hair and look happy about yourself!

  • you must have a shit load of slide oil o.o

  • what brand of trombone is that?

  • @th30wn3dpk3r1 A normal one ....

  • @ZackDuncan386 im talking about is it a king, bach, kanstul, etc smartass

  • @th30wn3dpk3r1 Sorry bout that .... just an everyday blonde Moment.

  • @th30wn3dpk3r1 Its a Blessing B88.

  • WTF?!?!?!?!?

  • His girl friend must like him a lot on how fast he can move is toung

  • Ok so I know Chase in real life and have been in the same all county band as him. And he is a pretty freaking amazing trombone player. He was just going so incredibly fast that you couldnt tell that it was every single note. We probably had just played a concert considering that this is the practice room at the Ramada Inn for District. So unless you all know him shut up. He is a freakin incredible trombonist. :)

  • @46hey I don't know him personally, but any musician can "know" a player through his playing alone. This shows his agility on the instrument, but I'd compare it to a baby trying to run across a room after it has just walked for the first time. He needs to take time and practice. Ambition is good, but he will go nowhere without more practice before performing. This sort of thing may stun people that don't know too much about music, but any professional would scoff at an attempt like this.

  • @confoozled3737 I am a professional thank you very much. He played this at our concert, he was just out of breathe and probably didn't really want to play it again, and I know him for more than just his playing, he got a full ride scholarship on a music degree, all that I was saying is that he is an amazing player, and he has a great personality to match. He was just not as into it as he should be.

  • @confoozled3737 Dude, unless you can play this better, or play anything on the same instrument better, then I'd suggest shutting up.

  • @PeaceBringer100 Play this "better"? What's your definition of better? Slower and more accurate, or just as inaccurate, but at blazing speed? I already play multiple instruments: woodwinds and strings. I don't have to play the same instrument to criticize someone else's playing unless I'm speaking strictly about said instrument. Technique and accuracy are universal. I've also provided reasonably constructive criticism. He won't get hired by just showing off. It won't get him respect, either.

  • @confoozled3737

Better would definitely be no slower, if possible faster, and more accurate. Can you do that on a trombone? Because, if you can't, you have no business talking about his playing. There are different limitations and playing styles for different instruments. A flute player cannot critique a trombone player as accurately as another trombone player could, because they don't know what it is to play that instrument. And your criticism was definitely NOT constructive. Please think.

  • @PeaceBringer100 What do you not understand about my post? Technique and accuracy are basic elements of a good musical foundation. I don't have to play drums to know its bad to stumble through rudiments at quarter=350. You might as well consider Flight of the Bumblebee an exercise in technique because it's mostly chromatic passages. You're correct that issues about specific instruments should be addressed by one who plays that instrument; however, these are fundamental errors in musicianship.

  • @confoozled3737

I do have to give you that, that there ARE fundamental errors in musicianship. However, the player in question is young, and still has to learn. As do I. I see now how it was constructive criticism, and I apologize if I seemed hostile.

  • @46hey ---yeah no doubt-----But Charles Vernon is MUSICAL and plays with double and triple tonging. I would rather hear Charles Vernon play a B-flat scale than Chase's version of Bumblebee.

  • @123spamspam I mean no doubt he's good. I'm a music teacher and trombonist. I can see why he has a full ride scholarship. I would like to hear him play from the symphonic repertoire. or play Hindemiths Concerto d'Hiver. That would be impressive. and just maybe he does? Good for him ---don't get cocky!!!!! I wish I could play that when I was his age. Took me a few more years. He ah also missed an eighth note. But........am I nitpicking?

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • REDICULOUS

  • theres a differences from flutter tonging some random notes, and playing a song that starts on a high concert Bflat down the scale hitting every possible note 3 times. That was really bad dude

  • i could see this as a dubstep.

    NOICE

  • This was so much better than I could have imagined. The tonguing is insane!

  • @Dunbarrrr That's what she said.

  • Just cuz ur fast doesn't mean ur good ;)

  • just out of curiosity was that fluttertonguing or double tonging?

  • HOLY CRAP! That must have given your arm a workout!

  • That's not a tenor trombone, is it? I thought tenors were the regular kind :O

  • @acdcoboe that is a tenor trombone, it just has more tubing.

  • your tongue is epic

  • wow if you can tongue that fast you must give your girlfriend nice orgasms

  • @stevenhamlin1000 Nice job stealing a comment from another video you troll.

  • @MaxExActo69 actually i'm the one that made that comment look on the other video

  • @stevenhamlin1000 Oh I didn't pay that much attention, sorry :D

  • @MaxExActo69 it's ok we all make mistakes i done that before

  • @MaxExActo69 it's my comment i just used it twice

  • @stevenhamlin1000 flutter tongue yo

  • @jbaltus11 Nope. There is such thing as multiple tonguing where you have control of the fast notes you are tonguing.

  • @MarcoAJuarez oh definetely, but it just kind of sounded like flutter tonguing.

  • @jbaltus11

    I agree 100%

  • @stevenhamlin1000 But i think that fast hand-moves result from not having a girlfriend

  • @Klausofy ok

  • @stevenhamlin1000 Yeah----I play tbone too, and thats the only reason I practice double and triple tonging. She loves it!!!

  • @123spamspam lol i bet she does

  • @stevenhamlin1000 Obviously isn't tounging

  • @stevenhamlin1000 He's playing flight of the bumblebee on trombone, what girlfriend?

  • @KRAZYKENNY479 Is this a serious question?? ..

  • @stevenhamlin1000

    Flutter-tonguing. Thank you.

  • WTF does it natter get over it

  • I only heard like 5 parts of the song in there, the rest was just a really fast tongue on a random note.

  • You are just an idiot with fast tongue. Have a pitty for the music.

  • ooh look how cool you are... you can play fast. woo hoo. : [

  • But it was just flutter tonguing. How is this impressive?

  • horrible nothing but flutter tounging the whole time

  • FAKE AND GAY!!!

    jk

  • sounds like me after a few too many bowls of spicy chili...

  • @platinum29ROBLOX I believe I posted that exact same thing and then you copy pasted what I said.....

  • @JewClawClan I did not copy and paste, so if i copied you then I appologize, I didnt know :|

  • @platinum29ROBLOX Not to be rude but I find that hard to believe considering that you even used the same punctuation and word choice as me.

  • @platinum29ROBLOX hahahah good one

  • @platinum29ROBLOX

    EPIC LOL XD

  • Tune it, kid.

  • What kind of tounging was that?

  • it was looking like he was ...

  • buen video XD pero como se ve que no limpian ese lugar =) ¬¬''

  • Did he hit any right notes ?

  • cossack fire dance. trombone solo. flight of the bumblebee.

  • I just puked.

  • its feel like fast forward ??
