The RX-7 wasnt a automatic and had nothing wrong with the engine. Obviously it was near enough standard besides an exhaust system and air filter.

@bloodieduckies There were never any non-turbo'd FD3S made. The FD3S was used as the Homologation model for several racing circuits, and in order for it be used in those circuits with the turbo's 13b-REW engine they all had to come with it. Any non-turbo'd FD3S you see has been altered, and is not stock.
fast ep3, and rx7 are fast cars just because its a 1.3 liter doesnt mean its slow for all you dumbass ppl out there. mazda put in a rotory engine not a 1.3 geo metro motor.

@vtecnegro85 The RX7 is a faster car than the Civic and has more potential in order to make some mod's. That is a fact. They're both different category cars.
If you wanna do a fair race put a Nsx racing against the RX7. That is a fair race. Not a Civic Type-R.
Standard engine wise the rex is only about 258bhp from factory - ep3 is ~200. id say the likelyhood is that the rex owner either had A) a wank map B) No mods and a stuck solenoid preventing his second turbo from spooling C) both of the above.

RX7 is in the same category than a Supra or Skyline GTR. The EP3 was in fact great to race side by side with this RX7. Good video
