This is when tag team wrestling meant something. They didn't just throw two random people together and call them a team like now. There were wrestlers who were known for their work in a team and you hardly even saw them wrestle without their partner. The tag team belt was a coveted prize that a good team could have held on to for years. Members of a good tag team seemed almost like brothers. They worked together as a well oiled machine, and the whole was greater than the sum of the parts.
This whole set of vids takes me back to my early days as a wrestling fan! How awesome this is! Steamboat was my favorite wrestler when I was a kid so this whole thing has been a great way for me to flash back and enjoy a Sunday afternoon.
@fjccommish It looks silly, and it covers up his face due to the bad lighting, they must have gotten it out of some prop bin at the last minute, it takes away from what he is saying.
The answer was right there. Nelson was tired of Slaughter giving Kernodle all the attention. You took him for a fine steak, but with me it was something at 7-11. After his run as Sgt. Jim Nelson, he became Boris Zukhov. In Arn Anderson's book, he talked about Nelson's lack of hygenie. He slept with a bucket of chicken on his chest with crumbs in his beard and wore the same clothes all the time. He said Pat Rose was the same way.
What prompted Nelson to turn? I'll assume it stems from Youngblood breaking Nelson's cobra clutch, but there wasn't a moment (at least not here) where Sarge and Kernodle dump Nelson.
Slaughter actually did have a camoflaged limousine back then, and used to drive it where ever he went.

@sammys70 Not many people knew about it because they never saw it. It was practically invisible.
