  • The best Renaissance uke playing I've come across!

  • Oh, friends! Can not thou see we must recover ye value of ye Olde, through Plato and Aristotle ye Great? Thou shalt choose! Do thou want ye Ancient knowledge of ye Greek or ye Doomed Times of ye Franks? We shall have again ye Science and Arts, we shall build a New Greece!

  • beautiful! made me love the ukulele. so different from people who i usually see play it. great job!

  • Thank you for the post you play very well

  • Absolutely beautiful! Some people are able to duplicate the sounds of the past, and others cannot. You, sir, have that gift!

  • NO SUGAR TONIGHT 1970

  • this is just lovely, thank you - may i ask the names of the tunes, please?

  • Thanks. As you can see in the description of this video, the pieces are:

    Espagnoleta - Gaspar Sanz

    Toy - Francis Cutting

  • @wwelti thank you - i was too busy listening to read!!!!

  • very good. :)

  • Wonderful. Puts my playing to shame. Beautiful. And so creative, on a uke.

  • Very nice songs to play on the ukulele indeed. For the people that ask for the tabs of these songs I can give you a little tip. Download a midi file of the piece you want to learn. Open the midi file with a guitar tabbing program (like guitar pro). You should get a pretty accurate guitar tab for it. Then you can change the configuration and get the notes for the ukulele.

  • Hi,

Thanks, but it doesn't work this way. Arranging music for ukulele means much more as just converting some midi files. It can't be explained it in a few words. To get a small glimpse of it, you can read the book "The Solo Ukulele Recipe" by Rigk Sauer.

  • @wwelti By no means did I imply that this quick method is an adequate substitute for putting your own effort and arranging something from actual notes. But it can be an easy way for a beginner (like me) to get a glimpse at the piece and decide if he is able to play it (before commiting himshelf on something that eventually couldn't do). Thank you for your reply sir.

  • Thanks, and yes you're right. So I misunderstood your previous posting, sorry about this. I wish you all the best and good uking :) Regards, Wilfried

  • Amazing! Would love to play this myself.

  • Sir! I am advertising you in my forum. :)

  • Hi! I'm sure you'd play this 100 times better, you're a pro ;)

  • That has such a beautiful sound. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us!

  • There's no need to apologize. This is a lovely video and song. Thank you for posting. I didn't realize that a uke could sound like that.

  • you should totally make a tab.

  • is that "Espagnoleta" ?

  • whats the instrument?

  • as you can read in the description, an Ohana SK-35S soprano ukulele.

  • Very, very sweet music - thank you, wwelti!

  • Very nice. But i most say, you have long nails. hehe :)

Is it easier to play with long nails?

  • thanks, while many guitarists will probably say yes, I think it's a matter of getting used to.

  • I never knew uke could sount so awesome! I am learning this stuff on guitar, and you sound great . . . I am humbled.

  • Thank you all. However it's nice and easy on the uke :)

  • sounds beautiful man. thanks for the upload

  • Love it~!

  • That was beautiful! Really enjoyed that, 5/5

  • Thanks.

I made music from samples too quite some time ago (but just for fun). It's cool but I quit because I found that all the software is too unpractical, and started studying CS. And now I'm playing the uke -- again for fun. Guess what will come next ;)

  • molto grazioso! got a wish to see your face during listening! :)

  • I'm glad you've done this. I want to transcribe some John Dowland into ukulele but I'm still not familiar with the notes in the ukulele GCEA tuning. Keep playing, it's beautiful!

  • Hello, and thanks!

Well, I'm doing some J.D. transcriptions for the ukulele at this time. However I don't rush it ;)

  • Thanks for commenting :)

  • good job

  • don't be sorry for anything this is great thank you for sharing

  • I truly enjoyed your video; I had always underestimated the ukulele's worth until now and thank you for uploading!

  • is there somewhere where i can download this song or one like it

  • Really, really beautiful playing.

  • Evokes a much more courtly era than ours...

  • Where do you find a free 'Toy' sheet music??

  • Sorry, no idea, i found it in a (not free) guitar book.

  • hey, do you have some partitions or something?

  • where can i find tabs for something like this...ive been wanting to learn a song like this forever

  • Hello! Sorry, it's a bit difficult to locate... I used a tab from KaneIpu, which is located at the member gallery of the "Erster Deutscher Ukulelenclub". It's called "Picking-Schule". The name of the Piece is Espagnoleta.

    Regards, Wilfried

  • gnarley fingernails, i genuinely wish i could get mine that long without me biting them

  • ... or them splitting just when they seem perfect, huh

  • Give finger-picks a try; they are invaluable, at least, for musicians who specialize in other instruments as well which require short nails.

  • Wonderful!

  • Oh dang that's good. I enjoyed wish I could play like you.

  • Congratulations, wwelti. Inspiring to see a ukelele played with such skill and charm, and the audio on your recording was superb despite your concerns

  • oh yes, that's where it's at. can you do a whole album? there's so many gems there.

  • lovely :)

  • AWESOME!! Absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing. Wonderful work! I enjoyed it immensely!!

  • Ahh. Beautiful. I've been craving something like this for a very long time. Amazing work, I love it!

  • where do you get the tabs

  • That was great. Thank you for sharing. I was desperate to listen to some good 'ole Renaissance music such as this ... it hit the spot, shall I say. Keep on playing!

  • Thanks :)

  • now that was very amazing but your fingernails are too long!! just kidding

  • absolutely marvelous, you are indeed a minstrel!

  • excelent. Beatiful! I salute you from my southern lands, from Chile.

    I really enjoy your music!!!

  • Thank you :)

  • NICE!!!!!

  • I'm not a big fan of the ukulele. But this piece was really beautiful!

  • wow, esa si es musica para mis oidos!

I loved it, great music :D

  • he! that 'Toy' have I just played on my guitar:)

  • Hi, yes, it's originally a guitar piece :)

  • very impressive! relaxing!

  • Beautiful Music, Thanks for Posting

  • This is really great !

I wonder where you find the tabs for renaissance music.

Do you by any chance know where to find the tabs for Greensleeves?

    Armelle

  • Thanks Armelle. Hmm, often I don't find tabs too, but do we really need tabs to play a tune? Yes, I already made tabs for Greensleeves. They will appear in my coming free uke solo book :)

    Regards, Wilfried

  • Beautiful music!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Excellent. Wonderful music. 5 stars. KEN.

  • Many thanks :)

  • Gefällt mir sehr gut!

  • Danke, freut mich :)

  • Klasse! Gibt's vielleicht irgentwo auch tabs davon? Ich sehe die nicht auf Ukeland...

  • Hi Chrissyart!

  • Wow! I love Renaissance music! It's lovely Wilfried! I look forward to more.
