n96 is a superior phone. it's a high end phone. 5800 is excellent, but it lack a lot of thngs, starting with the camera and going through the low processing power. Excepting the touchscreen and the display size, 5800 has nothing better than the n96.

oh my god people buy nokia n85 got fm transmiter !!! if u r bored u can listen never heard music for free! and u dont need to connect fm transmiter, battery is very strong, 5 mega pixels and its so much smaller and don't atract so much attention less chanse to steal im going to get the n85 for sure ....

i vote 5800 winner due to being fresh and new design from nokia, it brings new things to the nokia world, touch screen etc....

my biggest gripe with the n96 is its no way an upgrade over the n95 8gb, in fact the n95 manages to have more powerful processors and better battery life. the design of the n96 for me is wack also, missing out simplicity's such as a usb cover!!

both are brilliant but the n96 manages to fall a bit short compared to even older N models.
