i think the reason that beckett gave that advice to the cop is because right now, beckett cant follow that advice. Its basically what royce told her in his letter. She cant focus on a future (with castle??) because she is so tied up with the past, and she knows that until her moms murder is solved, she cant move forward, like she said in the season premier. beckett gives this advice hoping that she can save someone else from what happened to her.

I think that this episode had some moments that were just like :O This could happen later on! At least, I hope so!

I thought you meant that they foreshadowed something in this episode that happened toward the end haha. And I love how at the end, Castle was the one that looked embarrassed, while Beckett seemed more amused than anything. It's usually the other way around!
