What about the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini? I always liked that one because Barbara isn't a pathetic hysterical mess throughout the whole film.
the problem with the remake(not to say that it was bad, because it really wasn't) was that a lot of the "hardcore" Romero fans weren't taken in by the fact that it was in color, the colored gore effects, and lastly, the ending. Barbara actually wasn't even a factored into the argument at the time
I own every singe one of those films except for "Diary". I did see it though. I loved them all, but my favorite has always been "Day of the Dead". I also really loved the remake of Night from 1990 with Tony Todd as the main character.

George A. Romero is the shit! There will be no other zombie movie thats would be better than the classic, Night of The Living Dead!
