"Why?" - White Ribbon Campaign 30" TV Commercial

I've just ehard about the WR campaign, and I'm sorry but this ad is just awful. Is it seriously suggesting that if a woman was in the Hockey Player's position everybody would just look away? Or that men just hate to see violence against men (even though men batter each other more than they do women and less stigma is attached to man-on-man violence than man-on-woman violence). I'm really wondering what version of the outdated 1960s view of planet Earth this ad came out of.
