  • Great video, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • solid wire? What is that 465 WFS and 27.2V with solid wire? Beautiful weld.. wow.

  • That is a beautiful weld.

  • Thanks, i watch lots of your vids and learn each time. Thank you.

  • is this technique only for thick metals? will it cause warping on sheet metal?

  • i used the cursive e technique for the first time today in class. I can now weld better than my instructor. you really helped me out with this thanks

  • I use this exact style i call it the pubic hair technique

  • great bead but did it seem like he was moving quite fast, im still new at welding so bare with me

  • that looks somewhere between eight and forty squillion times better than my beads.

  • Thanks a lot man you did a great job showing the techniques with a shielded camera!

  • GREAT GREAT TIP!

  • nice welding!

  • weld your butt cheeks together

  • fail in my book ,lack of fusion, no penetration, shit welder operator only good for sheetmetal

  • @kaumiit2 everyone welds differently, i for one tend to flick the feed back on itself instead of looping which gives the same bead but better penetration. so hardly a fail!!!

  • @huslermatt for beginners ok, but for pressure welding its a fail if you test it like fillet break or nick break no penetration whatsoever in this vid

  • wow i wish i can be almost that good

  • Hey I'm a 16 year old Job Corp attendee and i'm wondering if welding is a thing that I can pick up on?

  • @killerace2014 Sure you can, if your good they will help you get AWS certified. But is there an age limit for that class? They want you to be work ready when your done.

  • @killerace2014 basic welding is easy to do, its great to get started young as it does become some what of an art as welds become specific to each job you do.

My advice is start on the mig welding then when confident move on to tig welding which is best used for finer work like artistic models or simply bike frames! Good luck kid and hope you enjoy

  • @96justin shut up. In the real world, you weld the way conditions dictate. Dumb people reciting some classroom bullshit. You should do this, you should do that, your not doing it right. Fuck off little kid

  • what brand machine and settings?

  • Your always supposed to backhand GMAW (MiG) if you are in short circuit or globular transfer, once you get into spray transfer you are supposed to forehand or push the puddle.

  • Might be harder to see the molten weld pool going forehand, but there is alot more penitration than going backhand.

  • looks good, bet mine look better though :p

  • will it work with flux core

  • @goatsplat Flux core is best with high heat and a single line. Running over the flux again will cause spatter and slag inclusions. Same with 7018. 6010 is designed to oscillate.

  • Just a basic stringer, will learn that in any decent school

  • @81aturner ya, im only 23 and ive used that technique for 13 years now :/

  • id like to sea those weld's cut open and or x-rayed first 2 looked good but saw stuf that mad me think thay might not pass on x-ray

  • There's no way to tell If he got good pen you could have the best looking bead but underneath very little pen

  • @tat2dhandz there is some serious penetration in that lap joint!!! see how the weld face is concaved and the is no undercut in the toe of the weld, that means the host metal took really well to the weld. its burned in good. penetration is clearly there

  • wut are the settings for this

  • @pinkylin100

Even if he gave you the settings of his machine, every machine works differently and every welder welds in their own unique way so it wouldn't matter.

  • I do the same thing but i call the smiley faces. Really good welding by the way.

  • great welding

  • I have used the WMWMW method on heavy pieces to get in deeper, on the 1st pass, then the overlapped o's for the next 3 passes

  • my dad does the same thing for tig and mig but he calls em backward Cs

  • it's too cold on top!

  • @realoptions its a mig gun not a stick welder, theres great penetration on those welds.

  • like a stack of dimes.

  • bow

  • Nice looking weld. But from past experience in boiler making. Dragging won't get you the penetration that you would if you were to build the pool and push the weld along. You can even see in the video when he pauses, the root of the weld has incomplete fusion.

  • wow! Is like made with a robotic arm or something, nice job!

  • WIsh I could weld like that!

  • gotta respect the skill involved!

  • i am learning mig in my class...just want to know how do you place your nozzle to the metal to get them flat & nice welds or if you can do a video showing how you place your arm & how you place the nozzle to the metal your welding to get the nice flat welds like yours i try & try but my welds come out fat i have the rite speed but i no i dont have the right placement HELP ASAP! ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ASAP ASAP THANX

  • I got Eti college for welding ima use this

  • I could never be a welder, not that I can't or don't know how to weld, I just get so pissed off when I'm welding. I got pissed off in welding class one time because the table wasn't level and used a stick and a half to weld a big piece of 3/16 sheet to the table to make a new top for it. Then after that I was pissed because my pliers didn't grip the metal very well. I don't know what it is about welding, but my fuse is only about 5% of it's normal length.

  • Thanks so much, I bought a mig flux core today and I'm learning by trial and error. Your video is guiding me in the right direction and i appreciate it.

  • That guy must be using diazepam

  • why dont you do spray... pulse spray.. STT ?

  • Thanks for the video. Great tip and technique.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you very much god bless you

  • thanks for the tip sir.

  • speed

  • Whay is one sunk in and the other isnt,? jasonshaw1604@yahoo.com

  • I used to run mine in small circles like that for years. Where I work we have to stamp our welds and I've never had anything come back on me where one of my welds on a machine failed. We recently got a new prick for a supervisor and he gave me a verbal for it and said no fly fishing. Anyways, 31 welfare recipients watched him run those awesome beads and voted thumbs down because they saw work going on and it made them nauseous.

  • im a 19 year old welder, goin on 20 in march.. from Canada and i work at SAF holland where i live , we make railgates and ladders for transport trucks and aerways , farm equipment. this is an awesome video i tried this at work and its mint., annnnd if your want a real good weld if anyone burns .045 wire, put the volts at 33 and WS around 4.20 ;)

  • The only thing that matters is good PENETRATION

  • I'd kiss a skunks ass to lay down a bead that perfect! :)

  • @watajob Just practice man. It doesn't take a lot of time to learn it, but it takes a lot of time to make it look good. Aesthetics are secondary it's the penetration it what you're really after.

  • @watajob Just practice and you can save a skunk a lifetime of embarassment.

  • @pocoapoco2 LMFAO!!! :)

  • can u show this technique in welding overhead and horizontal. thank you

  • I just assumed that this was pretty much common knowledge for anyone who has had welding experience.

  • I'm studying Fab and Weld in college atm. And you're weld is brilliant. My weld isn't too bad, I just need to get the start and finish up to scratch. Thanks for the tips though.

  • beautiful, learn many things thanx for your viedo mate

  • the weavin back an forth looks like shit....most boilies i know say it just looks ugly

  • how do you get a curve in you flat lap welds bend in sted of it being humped up

  • wow that is amazing. its like u jus write it with a marker

  • funny how everyones an expert welder on the internet. as he said sometimes u have to push other times pull whatever it takes to get the job done. wouldnt sound very good if u told someone cant weld that because u can only push weld that and i cant get my arm in.

  • wow great video

  • Wow cool video

Come to Weavesweldinginc on you tube and watch my first video

  • always push never pull unless if its thin material.

  • A good tutorial..perfect weld, JC

  • Nothing cold about that weld. Looks great.

  • cold weld

  • @jacobwren23 I agree .. this is a terrible example of welding technique, mig welding anything thicker than 6mm MUST be a pushed weld, to prevent porousity and ensure correct penetration. But hey ... he's the expert ;)

  • @GremlinWood he did push one too like he said sometimes you have to weld left from right sometimes you have to weld right from left.. they both work

  • I think i found the problem i had the heat way to hot. checked on the inside of my welder panel and adjusted the heat and its seemed to cure the problem thanks for you're help.

  • I'm going to start the welding certification course at the community college next quarter, and I'm glad to already be finding some tips that can help. Thanks!

  • hey im 14 and i just welded today in school. we didnt weld much. we just took lmetal squares that were kind of small and we just welded our initials on it. i prefer when i weld when im mig welding to be pulling back while im making the weld and going sideways instead of trying to push forward because when i push forward the metal gets pushed around and it screws me up. i have to say welding is pretty fun as long as you use common sense such as using gloves and wait before washing it under water.

  • Can you guys give me any advice? I'm considering going to a welding school to learn the skill. I'm just wondering if all the hype is real about this bc I'm just skeptical of any career field anymore. Is it interesting work? and is there as much demand as they say there is? What kind of money could I expect to make? The School costs about 10 k for a yr of pretty intense study and come out with a good certification. Any input would really be appreciated. Thanks

  • Can any one tell me why i am getting bubbles in my welds .i am welding on clean new steel ive been told My shielding gas is to low our that the steel is contaminated

  • @aguilars00011 Are you welding outside? Wind can cause pits and bubbles. it is likely that your weld could be getting to much oxygen. what wire, gas, and metal you trying to weld? need more information to help properly.

  • @aguilars00011 Pre heat it. Don't get it red hot just get the wet shit out. you'l see it come out. then hit it. good luck

  • @TheBillythekid2012 This.... Break the weld open and there won't be sufficient penetration into the material, and more than likely there will be inclusion in the root of the weld. The weld looks nice, but it's not as strong as it could be using a certified technique.

  • I noticed the under fill on the T and the silicon forming on the hotter end of weld. This type of welding is not certifiable. For impurities will get trap in the oscillating manipulation of weld bead. But for standard manufacturing processes it's alright, look's good_Billy

  • Very good seams, good hands.

  • This video went viral on Amsterdam

  • Holy beautiful weld there !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Metallica1071991 idiot......

  • @KoopaGangsta Thanks, that so helpful. Go watch some more marijuana videos, gangsta.

  • nice job there!

  • thanks, this really helped me a lot :)

  • hoooly shit?

  • Yes its 100 percent normal to get splatter without gas... thats why you use gas haha

  • Thanks MAN! Bad ass technique w/ expirience! I LIKE IT! Merry xmas

  • Props very good vid for beginer welders.

  • Very nice!

  • duuude

  • I get alot of that small bead spatter when I weld, is that normal with gassless flux?

  • @Mitchumthegreat yes it is

  • @justinswan94 k thanks

  • @Mitchumthegreat flux is shit

  • I need some help I'm a new beginner at welding I'm doing it in collage and I'm having trouble with getting a straight line because I got to do 3 straight lines, also I got to do a T weld, lap joint and 3 more others what I can remember the name of

  • @TehRiizL make a chalk line and witness punch the chalk line. Your welding teacher will never know :P (a witness punch is centre punching every 10-20mm)

  • wow man thats perfect : D

  • reallly nice .. like if it was a full automatic that was doing the moves xD

  • I always weld this way. Have done since I first started in the '80s. I do tend to push rather than pull. Nice to know it works well either way. Some day I'll get myself an electronic welding visor...

  • @SLRist you should get one of the electronic welding helmets, you will not regret it!

I recomend you the speedglas welding helmet, they are the best for me

  • does it make a better penetration or something else with that movement?

  • @AlxMiNeR Worse. For best penetration with hard wire run stringers and go fast enough to stay on the leading edge of the weld pool, if your arc is on top of the puddle at all you will not get penetration.

  • @76slippery thats what i tough.. but in canada were like 5 years later on welding technic... but ont that .. its really beautiful but there will be more penetration if u keep youre wire right at 45 degree in the middle of the cornerd.. but i think that exercise is more like.. 25 degrees a to recharge but no pass over the plate.. and thats only 3/8 im sure youre right for the penetration

  • Thanks sir.

  • So is it easier to practice welding thicker metals first so that you can take your time on the welds vs thinner metal.

  • @sackcheck Yes

  • i was taught that is called "stitching"

  • @TheKawi125rider , I'm pretty sure stitch welding is when you weld for a certain length (e.g. 6") then leave a space of 6" and then weld another 6", so on and so on. e.g.

    666666______666666______666666______

tips, always tack weld it together before welding T____T______T____T

and always weld towards the heat! (weld towards your previous weld) this will keep it from warping. IMO

  • Good to find basics for welding being shown by someone who has got experience in these things! Our range of Mig Welders deserve to be showcased like this! Check them out at Welding Supplies Direct.

  • Looks like a machine welded it. =)

  • i do a similar technique i picked up from my dad, except we call it "stitching" and you move it back and forth sideways rather than loops, its easier to control and gives good penetration

  • Is 30 an 440 to crazy?

  • Hey man very nicely done. But why didn't you push instead of pull?

  • 28 people wish they could weld!

  • very nice welds !

  • Not to stray off topic but I've searched your website and can't find any videos on bronze welding. Do you have any plans on doing a videos demonstrating this?

  • my teacher says like stacking pennies.... it works in ag class lol

  • I have learned the pushing way my teatcher said that it will give better penetrasion

  • @youlert The reason pushing gives better penetration then pulling is because the inert gas helps with penetration and if the gas flow is pointing towards the crater then it will dig in a little more.

  • 28 people dont know jaclk spit about welding, that my friend is a beautiful weld

  • Comment removed

  • Most people just call it an ocillation.

  • that's a modified weave bead.

  • i looks pretty but for it to pass a chip test you cant weave

  • @RayneoftheDead

what is a chip test? i don't think i have heard of that test. i am familiar with mag particle, stress, dye, and ultrasonic tests....

  • @fistfullofitch xray and stress is done with chips, are what they call them at the college, you weld it they xray it, bend it and xray it after

  • And it is written that one day welders shall inherit the earth!!

  • I'm a recent grad for combination welding, and we were taught to "drag". Am I wrong? Not critiquing, just want to weld it "right the first time".

  • @welder4life11 you can do it anyway you like dragging will give you less penetration but a generally better looking wider bead because its usually easier to see the puddle also better for light gauge due to the less heat input, and pushing will give you more penetration with a more narrow bead that isn't usually as nice looking because it can harder to see the puddle. mainly though do what is more comfortable to you and it will always look better then doing something uncomfotable.

  • @welder4life11 it just depends on what you are welding. usually dragging or pulling is better, you just have to get your heat right, and never leave your puddle. move at a consistent speed and stay in your puddle. that will give you more penetration.

  • I normally just crank it up.. flat out :)

Might have to try this sometime... nice

  • Nice, you are very smooth and consistent with your weave pattern and travel speed. Are you welding that with one hand from and unbraced position? If so that is even more impressive. The technique I like to use while welding with MIG on a 2F position is to go forehand and kind of drag my puddle on the bottom leg of the joint and then weave back just a bit onto the puddle on the top leg of the join.

  • thats how i learned back in the 80s from our FFA instructor, i always run about 1/8 to 1/4" straight on the thickest metal side then loop-lapp over(and repeat) makes a beautiful strong weld, nice vid..

  • loping te same distance is not easy

  • when it sounds like bacon frying it's a good speed, and if your new to this, take a test weld with scrap and stay were you can reach the wire speed knob and adjust it while welding you will see and hear the difference.

  • 18 to 20 volts at about 250 inches a min seems about right.

  • @shawnwright111 Don't fear the heat, you are WAY too low

  • @laz44418 the most popular is probably just .035 steel wire and if you open up the side of your welder where the wire is most of them have charts where you can measure your metal and it will tell you the right speed and heat

  • What type of wire and setting were you useing. Because I'm having big trouble passing my projects at school. I sure its because my setting is not right and my speed.

  • u got some nice lookin welds

  • I was taught in my welding class that circle welds are not as strong. the way I was taught to do a "C" shape weld. But to each his own. your welds look flawless sir and I have seen a few of your others.

  • 27 people are amateur welder LOL

  • YOU ARE AMAZING MIG WELDER

  • Can this be done doing stick welding??

  • @TheFarmer009 Yes!!!! it is the best way to stick weld

  • @TheFarmer009 Don't weld stick like that, you will bury dirt

  • It looks like you have no penetration and that you are just deposiiting weld on top of the joint. Yes it looks pretty, but how strong is it?

I was taught to use a similar technique when filling a deep V.

I would fill the bottom ensuring good penetration and then move back a bit putting more weld on top to fill the V. It was more of an arrow head shape pointing in the direction of travel. The root at the point and then back up and down and then forwards to the point again.

  • This guy could not burn his fingers, Machine set on dip, should be on spray, his welds will give no penetration and will have lack of fusion on both legs, look at the last welds, at the toes. An amateur!

  • the biggest problem i see w/ GMAW is the welders themselves. GMAW is and was designed to be a simple welding procedure in order to help out the war effort (WWII) to get material welded up quickly and efficiently to get material out onto the field so it could be used to kick some Axis ass. so you see it is recognized as the easiest welding process and b/c of that everyone thinks they're an expert, thus all the damn bickering on GMAW welding vids. nearly anyone can learn GMAW over a weekend.

  • i learned this before straight welding lol :P

  • best welding video ive look at so far thanks!!!

  • fuck mig.

  • @budgaugh24 lol mig is most widely used. you fail coming from Tig? why does it suck?

personally I like heliarc better :-\

  • @Me102288 It sucks because the pay sucks

  • @budgaugh24 oh, welders are in high demand and they always will be.

if you tac welding fences together no, it wouldn't pay much, on the other hand my cousin welds reactors and has has his own crew, think he's over $60 an hour.

Hell, I was getting $26/hour puttining train cars together.. $16 + 10 danger pay... only danger there was the crane's or getting run over by a train car moving at 2 mph lol
