Hey I've got a question.I see many people like in this video,who have their emergency lights(whatever they are called) ON when they are testing their cars or drag racing on the streets.Can you explain why?

@rustyrocco more torque at 3k... no spinnin tires means the grip was not used at its limit.

spinnig tires also warm its surface better witch makes it softer an givin more grip.

Okay, but it still can't be good for the drivetrain. Especially on a brand new engine and transmission that hasn't been warn in. I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

this is why you don't buy a demonstrator! because you get idiots like this abusing the car. that dsg isn't designed for a launch control take-off (simultaneous brake and throttle), so effectively what you've just done is shortened someone else's clutch/gearbox lifespan by several thousand kms/miles...

@bignicky88 Actually the DSG is specially designed for Launch Control. It is in the manual of all VW cars with that transmission. However, you can't do that to a car that isn't broken in yet. That I agree with.

@bignicky88 Why would you buy a car that can't handle a feature that's put into it? It's meant to do this. And people should know what their buying. If you don't want a car that's been driven before, you buy one with almost no miles brand new, but it's more. You get what you pay for.

its known that they dont hold up to high torque.... thats exactly why the r gti is 6mt along with most of the project gti's from various companies...plus, who need launch control when you have over 400hp????? and who wants a boring auto with all that power? no real driver does.

also, dsg keeps rpm's super high and everyone knows our cars lose hp and tq tremendously after 5000 rpm...the power band is at 4100 roughly.

@wapce these are test cars used at events. people are allowed to test them around a parking lot or track. this car will and always will be only used for that purpose. it will not be sold to anyone, ever. the only thing that will happen to it is it will become a courtesy car for when you bring your car in for servicing.

I dont think he has a mustang. I mean he might, but that's not what hes talking about. A Mustang Dyno is a really reliable dyno manufacturer. That doesnt necessarily mean he has a mustang and is saying it is better than "your" M5 or your "moms" GTI. Read up kid.

yea i thought so too... vw sent me a dvd about the gti after i bought my gti and it talked about launch control... the dvd EVEN said its best at 2400-2500 rpm... i dont know where they got 3000 from...
