this is the best vid by far.. i didnt know how to cook it before but now i am happy to use this as a guide. thank you.. pls post more videos. like ila asepo and ogbono soup. please. my mum isnt here to teach me.
@felicia625 break eggs, season to taste, put in microwave for a few minutes-1-2 minutes till set, pour into sauce. I would blanch my spinach first to extract the water so I turn the cooker off once I add the spinach to sauce, so the steam in the pot cooks the spinach.
wow, this is gud, im gonna try it this way, i use other method, and so the egusi does not come out in balls like this, im gonna shok my hubby with this new method..... he love egusi vegetable soup., thanks for posting.
Thank you very much for this video...i just cooked an egusi stew for the first time with no one's supervision...Girls wont be feeling important any more....haha.
na wa o, mouth watering dish.. so rich. have learnt new way of cooking egusi bks mine way of cooking the soup is different. thanks for sharing..feel like taking it out of my laptop. hahahahahahahahhaahha
very nice vid!! i cook mine similar to this and add some prawns for extra yummyiness! nice one I like this vid esp for people who wants to learn! God bless u ...and for people chatting about curry it is a seasoning it can be used in almost anything u want it to its ur personal prefrence
I tried this during lunch and was amazed by it. A Nigerian born co-worker made it with chicken pieces. He also had a side of rice with black eyed peas.I never tasted anything like it - it was simply great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely nothing wrong in adding curry to egusi stew. I put curry in mine sometimes. Try boiling meat with curry and thyme and see how tasty the meat comes out. I do add curry in my stew and egusi soup as well. It is delicious. There are many ways to make egusi soup. There is not just one way. Just be appreciative guys. At least she's trying to share her skills with people. You can also experiment and come up with your own syle of cooking it. Enjoy guys :)
@Nbaenziger Really? How come all out fore fathers did not die before they knew it? lol. And I know palm oil has some fat in it which is the point you are trying to pass across but it will never taste the same or even look the same if you make Egusi soup with Olive oil. Palm oil has carotene in it for anyone who does not know which is really good for the body ... good for sight for one
If interested google "palm oil, carotene" you should find helpful info ... could not add a link or would have
I followed all the steps and my soup was delicious thanks to you ma. Please I have a question. You skin is glowing, please what do you use for your face and skin. I am too dark these days. PLease kindly share with me, you can send me a message on youtube if you don't want to post it. God bless you ma.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I chose your method after looking at the various recipes videos. I am so happy that I did because it turned out great Yummy. Thanks!
I must say that the technique and effort are appreciated, though the palm oil is too much; especially now that we have to watch what we eat. All in all, the technique is good. I usually cook differently, hey, no two cooks are alike. I am definitely going to try your style. Thanks again, and happy cooking.
This looks like a wonderful dish and I love Nigerian and Senegalese food. So flavorful. But gosh this dish would take all day to prepare. Certainly not something to prepare If you have no family. Also looks very expensive to make. I live on Dallas, TX and I can tell you that a lot of those ingredients, I.e. Palm oil and egusu are extremely expeni
You should have said Nigerian women and southern (U.S.) black women are the best cooks. Black women in the U.S. Know their way around the kitchen too. Only African men when they get here rush towards white women and would never know this.
ode lawon to n diss cooking woman yi men...If you don't like it, go and hug a wet transformer jo! The way Igbos make their Egusi is different from the way Yorubas make it. I personally add curry to all my stews and from a persona perspective, this lady has done brilliantly! I do indeed mix onions with my egusi as well. However, I wouldn't have boiled the smoked turkey with the rest of the meat as it is already done. A good idea would be to slightly grill the turkey to bring out the smokiness
I usually mix my egusi with egg white to allow the egusi to stick together while in the pot. And I don't really get the reason for the curry. I think the palm oil has enough color in it so to me no need for curry
the prawns have been washed prior to packin....people can look for nthing and call it a fault kmt...aunty put curry in her soup and, if you no like am, no put abi? Aunty good one, X
Thanks for posting the video. I sometimes use curry in mine and sometimes I dont. The point of the video is to show ONE way of cooking egusi so for all those who already know how to cook and are bashing the video...stick to you own way and let the beginners or those who want to experiment learn a different way. Why cant people just appreciate someone's efforts for once? Or then again...post your own video so others learn from you.

@kiricool225... Not everyone cook with salt, besides, if u season ur meat well enough and add enough bouillon cubes to ur sauce, then u dont need salt anymore
NICE!!! i know 2-3 different ways making egusi soup, it doesn't hurt to try this one! aunty the food looks SPLENDID! thank you for sharing!
