Just makes you wonder how many people are hearing this song for the first time... 1979, was the first for me. You can't help but like it. It relates to everyone.
@TopockArizona Awesome!! First time for me was 1981, while in jr. high . . . INSTANTLY fell in love with Oingo Boingo!! Never before, and never again, will there be a band like Oingo Boingo!! They have no peers . . . utterly original, and brilliant!! GOD I miss seeing them live!! Especially the truly epic Halloween shows! (got to one of those back in the 80s). What I wouldn't give to see them live again!
originally I thought this was one of the saddest songs ever. I still do but I now love it which is weird because I usually hate sad songs (BOW TO THE POWER OF THE OINGO)
Thanks PETEM4 that one worked ok never heard them before, nice. I had a really good time in the 80s I was in my 30s...best years of a girls life believe me! My head is still there but my body has trouble keeping up lol. Don't know about the white stuff though, tried it once and I was Tina Turner for a week...in my head! Too nice and too nice is dangerous ha ha. By the way I'm always chilled!
I love Oingo Boingo and danny elfmen. I think that he is a musical genious and that oingo boingo rocks. But I think that this song was a little whiny and repetetive.
this was my first oingo boingo song from their first ep. i loved this and played this over and over! i was like wha? who is this guy? I love this guy. I drilled boingo into my headphones for the next 10 years following everythign they ever released.
Most of this was filmed in the Southern California cities Corona and Norco, with a bit of b-roll filmed in Palmdale and Venice Beach. Thanks for watching!
That's really cool. It captures the isolation and phony material lifestyle of the 80's really well. ...thing is -has it changed? The fashions come and go, but surburbia is still the same in a lot of ways
Great vintage home made vid. You really captured the defiance and brilliance of the lyrics. I think it was their intent to say that the outside was not a bad place to be. Thanks for the post.
I was being born while you were making this - on the 15th. :D I'm a Boingo baby.

This is such a great song. I have probably only heard this track a couple of thousand times, but I just never get tired of Boingo music.
How can you possibly listen to this stuff and be in a bad mood?

Oingo Boingo seriously wrote some of the most profound stuff I've ever heard. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that the protagonist was a girl.
