When they are in the middle of the warp, the sound of the following dominion ships are that of tie-fighters and the music for it as well. And yes, in the ice fields, thats chewy.
I'm afraid I'm too lazy to watch all of ds9 and that's why I don't quite get why this war started... is it just because Sisco(correct spelling?) entered the wormhole into the other side?
What cowards those Jem Haddar were. It did spell the doom for the large ships in future combat. Much like the aircraft carrier replaced the battleship.
@collguyjoe99 Okay... I got it. I will be checking NetFlix out. ok.... so i missed most of ds9....... i got what little info i could from various sources.i saw the first season of it missed the 2nd and later seasons.someone either fill me in on whats going here or is there a way that I can catch up on what happened leading up to the dominion war?
@RidingtheRails7 -Okay, whose idea was it to add music from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back? Very bad karma mixing scenes from one show and music from a movie... Not to mention VERY tacky.
I had to laugh out loud (at work) when the "Asteroid Field" music from the Empire Strikes Back began playing, with the TIE fighter sounds. Remember, the chances of successfully navigating an asteroid field are 3,720 to 1.
The Dominions (lat. dominatio, pl. dominationes), also known as the Hashmallim, hold the task of regulating the duties of lower angels. It is only with extreme rarity that the angelic lords make themselves physically known to humans. They are also the angels who preside over nations. The Dominions are believed to look like [...] but they may be distinguished from other groups by wielding orbs of light [...]. (Wikipedia)
I always hoped the Federation would transport a Borg cube over into the Jem-Hadar's territory. Also would love to see how the phased cloaking technology and Section 39 weaponry would do over in the Gamma Quadrant.
I don't understand any of the people saying this is cut badly... although the audio gets chopped up sometimes and the shots don't flow, this as a director's cut is pretty good.
If it were me, and had the show really raise the ante, I would have disgruntled Federation members foolishly join the Dominion, without the latter revealing their true colors, much like how the Cardassian Union joined the Dominion. I liked the idea for the aborted TREK series that takes place a century or two in the future were Vulcan left the Federation to join Romulus.
Why did you put that Galaxy Class as the Enterprise... I would love to have seen the scenes of the original Captain and it stay as the Odyessey. Changing it to the Enterprise adds nothing.
The scene with the asteroid field is terrifyingly similar to Empire Strikes Back when the Falcon went into the asteroid belt. The music as well as them hiding inside an asteroid.
the star wars astroid music and recreation was pretty cool, never thought something like that could be integrated to a star trek episode. The only thing i wished was that you didn't add it to the first contact scene. I would have much preferred watching a full episode of Dominion War: first contact undisturbed.
The Dominion is a vast interstellar empire consisting of tens of thousands of planets- It, like the Federation is composed of numerous species and controls many systems. It, unlike the U.F.P rules through coercion, fear and military strength. Any resistance is met with violent retaliation.
The Dominion's ultimate goal is to rule the entire Galaxy- Kill anything that refuses to join them, and enslave all else. They, in a way, are a dark-mirror of the Federation.
this series of star trek was my favorite, likeably characters good mix of the big 3 powers, a series that had a war in it. The episode where cisco gets the romulans to join the federation still gives me chills, it was soooo good.

@aviles1323 the Dominion is basically a huge empire which controlls the entire Gamma Quadrant (a quarter of the galaxy)
it is ruled by the Founders who are shape shifters. they created and breed genetically engineered servents (Vorta) and Soldiers (Jem'Hadar) who are programmed to obey them. they even made the Jem'Hadar addicted to a drug that only the Founders can create.

I wish you guys would advertise your videos as your own creations, so that those of us who aren't interested in seeing amateur creations don't bother clicking on them.
@ManlnCognito she probably didn't know he was a Founder.
remember that the other Founders didn't look like that until they met Odo and made themselves look like him.
Odo's face looks like that because he can't mimick human faces perfectly (the other founders dont have that problem) and he copied his hair from his bajoran father figure.
so since this is before the Founders took Odo's image she didn't know he was a Founder
While the Dominion's paranoia of the persecution of the Founders (which is blatantly seen in the Federation's tolerance of a -genocidal mission- by the Tal Shiar and Obsidian Order in the days -preceding- the war) was the cause, the Alpha Quadrant powers were the true instigators, as the Dominion laid down the ultimatum to cease violating their space. If the Dominion had just begun operating in Federation space without warning, how do you think the latter would've taken it? Double standard.
There's really no need to take those liberties with it. I would have much preferred leaving out the Star Wars sound and not hiding the Odyssey's identity, it makes a better story without those changes.
@vegeta002 Do you remember which episode, cause in the last episode they got O'Brien and Worf's uniforms right. Of course, the Captain's Chair didn't have the flip panels.
@JustPhilNY - It was from 'Q Who' (Season 2) I think, where they said that an unshielded Galaxy Class was at a high risk of being destroyed by a single of it's own Torpedo detonations at short range. With shields UP, it could be crippled (The Nth Degree - Season 4).
Make sense they'd be dangerous, considering they are matter/antimatter warheads.
@vegeta002 But of course, the first season of any Trek series is where they're having the sets bed in, getting the make-up right, the characters' mannerisms.
If you ask me, the Federation was just asking for war the entire time by being arrogant and continuing to allow ships through the wormhole despite the Dominion protesting constant incursions into their space.
Why not just respect their wishes, seal the wormhole and be done with it instead of putting the lives of billions of people in the Alpha & Beta Quadrants at risk.
@TheGreatLink I wrote a timeline of the entire Dominion War and I added that the Dominion annexed the space near the wormhole as a forward launching base.
Another thing; to give in to what the Dominion wanted would simply make them believe the Federation was weak. The time and resources the Dominion would gain from such a move would also strengthen it considerably. There could be thousands of systems throughout the Gamma Quadrent; and with even a handful of them in the Dominion's hands, I have no doubt the war would have been entirely harder to fight.
The Dominion were missimformed, arrogant and evil, they wanted the entire Alpha Quadrant destroyed because they would never trust solid life forms. The Federation kept telling them that conquest is not their goal and the Dominion refused to listen. They started the war by stepping foot into the Alpha Quadrant. They also destroyed the Oddyssey which is an act of war. The Federation just wen't you know what.. fuck it if you don't want to listen lets have it because were sick of thugs like you.
well the Federation did technically invade the Gamma Quadrant first, setting up mining outposts and colonies in the Gamma Quadrant.
and after the Dominion confronted them Starfleet told them they will not stop coming through the wormhole and then sent their most powerful ships to show their teeth to the Dominion.
then the Founders found out that the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian order planned to commit genocide against the Founders
That's true but Dominion space was quite far from the Wormhole on there side. The Federation had every right to send ships through as the Dominion had no claim over it. The Federation countless times told them that exploration and peace are their only concerns but it fell on think ears. The Obdidian order and the Tal Shia were foolish but they did what they thought was right. The Dominion needed to be stopped, they only understood when Odo told them that some "solids" are all right.
@TheGreatLink I don't think they were "invading" by setting up colonies on uninhabited planets and had no idea there was a powerful government in the Gamma Quadrant.
@JustPhilNY technically by season 3 they already knew about the Dominion. but yes since those planets were uninhabited there was no reason not to colonize them.
Starfleet was even looking for planets to mine resources on even in season 4 when they knew all about the Dominion.
so from the Dominion's point of view the Federation were invaders.
you can compare that to the arabs seeing the jews as invaders even though the jews only settled on empty land where there was no government
@CIarKent Yes, in Season 3 they knew about the Dominion, but in Season 2 they did not. In fact, the reason first mention was in a Ferengi episode was that the writers wanted to throw the viewers off.
"The Dominion? What's that?"
"Eh, it's a Ferengi episode. We'll probably never hear about it again."
@TheGreatLink of course you would say that because hello "EVERYONE READ HIS USER NAME" no matter what anyone will say he is biases toward the Founders (the Dominion).
@TheGreatLink Really they dont found out that the Tal Shiar planned to commit genocide, was the Founders whos planned this for destroy the most powerfull treath on the Alpha Quadrant ( considering the Romulan as neutral).
@TheGreatLink They didn't invade it, they went there unknowingly on a mission of exploration. They decided to abduct Sisco, not simply escort them back to the other other side. The Dominion were the first knowing aggressors, not the Federation. The Tal-Shiar wanted to wipe out the Founders because they displayed their intentions; it's no different to wiping out the governing body in a war to prevent greater casualties. The Founders are the genocidal maniacs, having committed said crime before.
@NANOFORGE I would love another War with the Federation long live The Dominion. This time no messing around, a War of total annihilation of the Alpha Quadrant.
@Solarnova Starfleet's mission is to explore strange new worlds and new civilizations. Do you really think they would give up an opportunity to explore 25% of the galaxy?
The Dominion was also different from the Romulans and Klingons. While the latter two had engaged in armed/cold conflicts with the Federation, on some level they were both willing to reason with the Federation. The Dominion did not want to negotiate at all. They just wanted to conquer the galaxy.
that's inaccurate. the Dominion did want to negotiate, but as a ruse to eventually take over the Alpha Quadrant.
obviously they negotiated with Cardassia to get them to join, and negotiated non agression treaties with other powers to get them out of the way to isolate the Federation.
they also tried negotiating with the Federation but the federation saw through their mask of diplomacy. the Dominion tried to negotiate a deal during the war so they could get some territory they needed
@CIarKent Well, at any rate, even with negotiation the Dominion wants to conquer. They eventually started taking advantage of the Cardassians and the Founder even lied to the Breen that they would get all of the Romulan and Federation territories once they won at Getha.
Remember what Sisko said to Vreenak: eventually the Dominion would probably have turned on the Romulans.
@JustPhilNY also in the episode "the search" the Dominion ran an experiment on the Defiant crew to see how they would respond to a Dominion attempt to sign a peace treaty with the Dominion which would give the Dominion control of the station and a foothold in the Alpha Quadrant. they saw that they would never accept it and that's why they never tried making that treaty.
the Dominion is very cunning and they try to fool their enemies all the time. obviously that includes promising false peace

@JustPhilNY - The show isn't usually consistent with earlier episodes, though it was made clear in at least 1 TNG episode that it would be dangerous.
vegeta002 1 year ago
@vegeta002 Do you remember which episode, cause in the last episode they got O'Brien and Worf's uniforms right. Of course, the Captain's Chair didn't have the flip panels.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@JustPhilNY - It was from 'Q Who' (Season 2) I think, where they said that an unshielded Galaxy Class was at a high risk of being destroyed by a single of it's own Torpedo detonations at short range. With shields UP, it could be crippled (The Nth Degree - Season 4).
Make sense they'd be dangerous, considering they are matter/antimatter warheads.
vegeta002 1 year ago
@vegeta002 But of course, the first season of any Trek series is where they're having the sets bed in, getting the make-up right, the characters' mannerisms.

The debris field at 4:40 was from the Next Gen 2 part episode "Best of Both Worlds" and was from the Borg attack at Wolf 359 not the Dominion.

Solarnova 2 years ago 7
the wormhole was not inside the Dominion's territory.
the Dominion border was far from the wormhole. So the Dominion had no right to demand that they don't enter the gamma quadrant at all.
TheGreatLink 2 years ago 4
@TheGreatLink I wrote a timeline of the entire Dominion War and I added that the Dominion annexed the space near the wormhole as a forward launching base.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
Another thing; to give in to what the Dominion wanted would simply make them believe the Federation was weak. The time and resources the Dominion would gain from such a move would also strengthen it considerably. There could be thousands of systems throughout the Gamma Quadrent; and with even a handful of them in the Dominion's hands, I have no doubt the war would have been entirely harder to fight.
NicholasGeschke 2 years ago
The Dominion were missimformed, arrogant and evil, they wanted the entire Alpha Quadrant destroyed because they would never trust solid life forms. The Federation kept telling them that conquest is not their goal and the Dominion refused to listen. They started the war by stepping foot into the Alpha Quadrant. They also destroyed the Oddyssey which is an act of war. The Federation just wen't you know what.. fuck it if you don't want to listen lets have it because were sick of thugs like you.
NANOFORGE 1 year ago 4
well the Federation did technically invade the Gamma Quadrant first, setting up mining outposts and colonies in the Gamma Quadrant.
and after the Dominion confronted them Starfleet told them they will not stop coming through the wormhole and then sent their most powerful ships to show their teeth to the Dominion.
then the Founders found out that the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian order planned to commit genocide against the Founders
TheGreatLink 1 year ago 13
That's true but Dominion space was quite far from the Wormhole on there side. The Federation had every right to send ships through as the Dominion had no claim over it. The Federation countless times told them that exploration and peace are their only concerns but it fell on think ears. The Obdidian order and the Tal Shia were foolish but they did what they thought was right. The Dominion needed to be stopped, they only understood when Odo told them that some "solids" are all right.
NANOFORGE 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink I don't think they were "invading" by setting up colonies on uninhabited planets and had no idea there was a powerful government in the Gamma Quadrant.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@JustPhilNY technically by season 3 they already knew about the Dominion. but yes since those planets were uninhabited there was no reason not to colonize them.
Starfleet was even looking for planets to mine resources on even in season 4 when they knew all about the Dominion.
so from the Dominion's point of view the Federation were invaders.
you can compare that to the arabs seeing the jews as invaders even though the jews only settled on empty land where there was no government
CIarKent 1 year ago
@CIarKent Yes, in Season 3 they knew about the Dominion, but in Season 2 they did not. In fact, the reason first mention was in a Ferengi episode was that the writers wanted to throw the viewers off.
"The Dominion? What's that?"
"Eh, it's a Ferengi episode. We'll probably never hear about it again."
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@JustPhilNY the Dominion was mentioned several times in seasons 1-2 not just in the ferengi episode.
in that episode it was said "if you want to do business in the gamma quadrant you'll have to do business with the Dominion"
and in other episodes it was said that the Dominion is an empire which conquers other powers
CIarKent 1 year ago
@CIarKent The Dominion was first mentioned in Season 2, Rules of Acquisition.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@JustPhilNY yes but they were mentioned again at least 2 more times before they were seen.
in the episode with the Skreea refugees, and the episodes with the planet inhabited by holographic people.
in both episodes the Dominion was mentioned as a powerful empire
CIarKent 1 year ago
@CIarKent Ah right, I forgot about that.
But still, even though they hadn't seen them, the Federation probably thought on some level they were reasonable.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink of course you would say that because hello "EVERYONE READ HIS USER NAME" no matter what anyone will say he is biases toward the Founders (the Dominion).
Thereisalwaysmore 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink
All valid points there.
LVCIVSDEI 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink Really they dont found out that the Tal Shiar planned to commit genocide, was the Founders whos planned this for destroy the most powerfull treath on the Alpha Quadrant ( considering the Romulan as neutral).
Tukian 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink They didn't invade it, they went there unknowingly on a mission of exploration. They decided to abduct Sisco, not simply escort them back to the other other side. The Dominion were the first knowing aggressors, not the Federation. The Tal-Shiar wanted to wipe out the Founders because they displayed their intentions; it's no different to wiping out the governing body in a war to prevent greater casualties. The Founders are the genocidal maniacs, having committed said crime before.
fpsBeaTt 1 year ago
@TheGreatLink
yeah but wasn't the dominion sending their changlings into our quadrant long before we ever setup mining outposts or colonies in their quadrant?
xninjagrrl 1 year ago
@NANOFORGE I would love another War with the Federation long live The Dominion. This time no messing around, a War of total annihilation of the Alpha Quadrant.
manweller1 1 year ago
@Solarnova Starfleet's mission is to explore strange new worlds and new civilizations. Do you really think they would give up an opportunity to explore 25% of the galaxy?
The Dominion was also different from the Romulans and Klingons. While the latter two had engaged in armed/cold conflicts with the Federation, on some level they were both willing to reason with the Federation. The Dominion did not want to negotiate at all. They just wanted to conquer the galaxy.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
that's inaccurate. the Dominion did want to negotiate, but as a ruse to eventually take over the Alpha Quadrant.
obviously they negotiated with Cardassia to get them to join, and negotiated non agression treaties with other powers to get them out of the way to isolate the Federation.
they also tried negotiating with the Federation but the federation saw through their mask of diplomacy. the Dominion tried to negotiate a deal during the war so they could get some territory they needed
CIarKent 1 year ago
@CIarKent Well, at any rate, even with negotiation the Dominion wants to conquer. They eventually started taking advantage of the Cardassians and the Founder even lied to the Breen that they would get all of the Romulan and Federation territories once they won at Getha.
Remember what Sisko said to Vreenak: eventually the Dominion would probably have turned on the Romulans.
JustPhilNY 1 year ago
@JustPhilNY also in the episode "the search" the Dominion ran an experiment on the Defiant crew to see how they would respond to a Dominion attempt to sign a peace treaty with the Dominion which would give the Dominion control of the station and a foothold in the Alpha Quadrant. they saw that they would never accept it and that's why they never tried making that treaty.
the Dominion is very cunning and they try to fool their enemies all the time. obviously that includes promising false peace
CIarKent 1 year ago
@CIarKent Damar was right. Had the war continued, the Founders would have turned on the Breen and looked for someone more powerful.
