  • fuckin good METAL!!!

  • as a fan of both sorry but after awake dream theatre is classic rock reformed and nevermore is pure metal!!!!

  • anyone know that the font they use for their name is called?

  • @tribalcurse

    Awesome is what its called.

  • Been seeing a lot of DT vs. NM stuff. Really have no input on that seeing as I know very little of both bands. All I can say is, both are great and amazing bands, and this song fucking rocks

  • best way to settle the DT/Nevermore battle, DT: award for incredible "happy" metal, Nevermore: award for incredible "dark" metal

  • I fuckin love how EVERYBODY is jumping on the DT/NM bandwagon. It's impossible to tell who's more technical/better. When you are at both bands' level of masterey it's like going from 4/4 to 3/8. Both groups could easily play each others' material cause they are total masters. DT Have release a little more than NM and NM came later. Jeff could handle Petrucci stuff. John could handle Loomis stuff. That being said... a lot of NM stuff is in common time. DT plays in 15/8 (and such) often. Nuff said

  • Here's a good one.

  • warrel and his apocalyptic visions are awesome

  • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

  • pfff if you're trying to have a dt vs nevermore contest then you really need to grow the fuck up, how can you compare dt to nevermore. nevermore is way more metal, dt is way more prog, they are both incredible, you think there is only space for one musician in a world of individual expression? you've got a long way to go....

  • Comment removed

  • @MrEpiclyrandom i cant comment their theory knowledge, but from mechanical skill standpoint Loomis is better than Petrucci. Usual fast bits in Johns solos are ~14 notes per second and with spike in Animate-Inanimate up to 20nps on the legato run, while Jeff holds 16nps steadily with jumps up to 22nps Psalm of lydia sweeps, 24 - 29 nps Enemies of Reality (according to tablature)

Petrucci is undoubtedly more versatile than Loomis, but as far as technique goes, Loomis stands a tad higher

  • @leaderoflostsouls666 That's not entirely true man. Loomis' average i more around 14 while John's is 15 so I don't know where you got that. Regardless, Petrucci is more varied and clean though both are great.

  • @Whackooyzero Stuff like that was counted on metal storm or ultimate guitar. I dont remember which right now. Johns' fastish licks are arround 14ps with some jumps. Loomis' are arround 16nps (you can check some random songs like Ambivalent or maybe Miles of machines or something). Jeff spikes up to 22-24 on psalm of lydia, ~18 on devil theory and 24-29 on Enemies of reallity (only these were counted)

Petrucci is much more varied, but cleaner than Loomis? That is very arguable

  • @leaderoflostsouls666 ok they are both amazaing but seriously they're all better than lil wayne for god's sake!

  • compositional complexity its DT>Nevermore.

    No contest

However Loomis>Petrucci in terms of technical skill

  • That last verse is awesome.

  • I fucking lold at "Nevermore is more technical than Dream Theater" This whole song is in 4/4. Go look up Dance of Eternity and forever be owned.

  • Fuck this shit, Papa Roach is better than those fags Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci

  • @pissed7off obvious troll is obvious xD xD xD

  • @pissed7off FUCK OFF BIATCH..

  • @BornedForMeg4deth

I guess some people actually are completely incapable of detecting obvious sarcasm.

  • @pissed7off hahaha, you made my day ;D

  • @pissed7off LOL PAPA ROACH SUCKS!

    LIMP BIZKIT BITCH!!

  • bitch bitch ! music is music! its there for you to listen! Not bitch about whos more technical than the other.

  • LITTLE KIDS ...

    STOP BULLSHITTING ! ! !

    DREAM THEATER & NEVERMORE BOTH ROCK ! ! !

THIS IS NEVERMORE, POISON GODMACHINE, METAL AT IT"S BEST ! ! !

MAKES ME THINK ABOUT A FRIEND OF MINE WHO'S NO LONGER WITH US,

RENE BRUGGEMAN, HE LIKED THIS SONG VERY MUCH.

    RIP .

  • @LewisTheDogue

I love METAL...I mean all metal but especialy NEVERMORE ... and here on balkar rare people listen to this(shame) and especialy my age (14) :P but this is fucking awsome

  • and i thought it was always about symphony x VS dream theater !!!!! well, this was new !!!!!

  • quit the fucking Nevermore VS Dream Theater shit. I love both but they are way to fucking different to compare. Despite the fact that they both are progressive they dont sound alike at all. Claming one is better then another is just retarded.

Tough James Labrie sounds horrible nowadays wich cant be told about Dane.

  • Jeff Loomis is a bad ass. Nevermore is bad ass.

  • 0:53 "TV lies... and pacifiiiiiiieeeeeees" My favourite Warrel Dane moment, not really because of the lyrics, but the combination of his ominous voice and the guitar riff that comes in... Fucking amazing!

  • dream theater would be great if they could write a good song

  • Holy shit this song is amazing.

  • I Can't stop listening to this. Jeff loomise and the ultimate riff

  • Nevermore has an unique style. period.

  • I love Warrel's vocals on this song. The lyrics also tell the bitter truth about how everyone and their dog watches too much TV.

    SOULLESS!!!

  • awesome guitar \m/

  • Reading all of these posts, i realize now how many nevermore fans are sesquipedalians ............and that is awesomatic.

  • warrel dane is the fucking man!!!

  • I am the new drug.......

  • My favourite metal band.

  • Fantastic bassline!

  • this song just raped my face

  • fudidooo!!

  • Badass!

  • Fucking awesome band! But why it's so underrated? :(

  • @ people who think DT is random wankery : congrats....you have figured out what people from Berkley and Julliard havent...you should start your own music school!!

  • sounds like reaaally old meshuggah

  • @crack731 to an extent, yes

  • souless!

  • to say dream theater is just random wankery is absolute ignorence, they are far more experimental and complex, but that doesnt mean they sacrifice any song writing skills. In fact, by the way they can make 20+ minute songs while maintaining harmony, shows more song writing and creativity than most other prog metal bands out there. the music from both nevermore and dream theater cannot be judged by 3 or 4 songs. i love both bands and its hard to compare the two.

  • @sk8metalnick6 i strongly dissagree that everything Dream Theater does is wankery but they do have songs where they do it.

Like Dance of Eternity? come on wtf is that?

    i love Dream theater btw.

  • @Guyverhoeven oh come on, dance of eternity was cool. the metropolis pt. 2 album was great. "killer" story too

  • @Guyverhoeven

I've seen a lot of wankery, but i can make complex and melodic out of Dance of Eternity.

  • This song is about how we have destroyed innocence in the name of mindless 'entertainment' and are all committing collective suicide - and you can feel it because it's coming from the heart of a man who hasn't completely lost his own. Warrel is SERIOUSLY pissed off here and with good reason...this song is solid gold.

  • The legato last riff is amazing

  • this song just raped me

  • Owns my face and soul!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Btw I heard Jeff believe in God and stuff even if this band is like stringently atheist haha, is this true or more internet garbage?

  • Lol people are making me cry with laughter here. Dream Theater more technical than Nevermore? Take your head out your arse for five minutes. You need to listen to songs such as Born, Engines of Hate, The Termination Proclamation and This Godless Endeavour and then come back to me and tell me Dream Theater is more technical. Don't get me wrong, I love Dream Theater as much as Nevermore but don't be an idiot. Dream Theater is more experimental I agree with that however.

  • @crabappleslikeme

Man Nevermore is my favorite band, Dream Theater a close second, but Dream Theater's writing process is far more technical...they are all very well learned in music theory and they purposely write their music like that. The Dance of Eternity is probably one of the most complex songs ever written.

  • Those awesome highs by Warrel at the end of the song give me chills every time. The riff... The melody... Everything.

This band probably has the most consistent career of any metal band out there. Everything of theirs that I've heard is killer..

Their new album, The Obsidian Conspiracy, is amazing as well. It's really diverse, almost reminds me of the Dreaming Neon Black days.

  • i love both nevermore and dream theater, one may be heavier, the other more technical, but we can all agree both bands are warriors in the fight for good music against the mainstream garbage out there!!!!

  • When it all comes down to it. Complexity or not nevermore is a way better band. Dream Theater cant compare. Kungfuman and the douches that voted for him are stupid as fuck. jeff loomis is far more technical. Its pretty simple. No band that is out now can compare to nevermore.

  • jeff loomis' solos are more complicated than john's, but dream theater has more complicated time signatures at times. i love both though, im seeing dream theater live opening for iron maiden on father's day.

  • Old Nevermore is so awesome

  • @dannygmustaine Correction, ALL Nevermore is so awesome :)

  • 2:30

  • everytime i hear this song my inner self wants to come out and break everything!!Hail to one of the best bands ever!!

  • heavy

  • prog/thrash metal

  • nevermore re mounia ..kai gamw ta kommatia!!!

  • ETSI DWSE!

  • lol

  • the best band ever is Nevermore no one can touch this band talent wise

  • sorry bro but nevermore is much more technical the dream theater

  • Not only that but Nevermore are overall better songwriters. Sometimes dream theater can be just complexity for complexity;s sake, without it actually contributing to the song process, just wandom wankery for no reason, however Nevermores technical side is more song orientated

  • @jestervision595 exactly bands like dt and tech death bands go try hard to sound like the most difficult bands out there

  • @jestervision595 They are up their with TESTAMENT really great TECHNICAL THRASH METAL!!!666

  • @jestervision595 you can't just like a song and not ramble about how you hate another? dude quit trollin

  • @jestervision595 There's no denying their marvelous ability to keep it complex. But that is the best way to put it, random complex wankery for the sake of complexity. Consider this line patented. xD

  • @jestervision595 i like dream theater a lot but i do see your point.

  • @greenradio1

What point? Nevermore are obviously better composers at their own genre. But if you listen to LTE and some of the best DT songs, are you gonna say they're better than them? I dare you.

  • @jestervision595

    You're an idiot for both:

    1-comparing such distinct bands

2-trying to make subjective perceptions factual

  • @phahq fair enough, but dream theater and nevermore are both "progressive" metal bands so they can be compared, I cant think of any band that trades music for needless wankery and "complex time signatures... dude... woah!" other than dream theater, its like a triathlon with them. Since images words/awake (their best) its just been one big snorefest of wankery and pretentiousness. Thanks to mike portnoy we have a million drummers in metal that sound exactly like him ...fuckin boring shit zzzz

  • @jestervision595

Well, progressive metal is one of the broadest sub-genres there is. Nevermore and DT are both prog metal, but they sound nothing alike. That's what i meant. Also, Images and Words is not my favorite album; it's SDOIT. And the title track is far from just wankery. It's lovely music. My two pennies, anyway.

  • @jestervision595

Oh, and there's one band that is all about wankery, more than DT (if DT really are about wankery...), and that's Meshuggah.

  • @phahq If only you actually knew what you were talking about. DT is the most pretentious crap since Yngwie Malmsteen, talented as fuck admittedly but could never EVER write a lick/riff that anyone anywhere could actually give a shit about.

At least Nevermore understands how to construct a song that's not only listenable, but that makes them out to not be sucking their own dicks.

  • @anonymouslol

    Your arguments:

    1. People don't give a shit about DT's riffs

    2. DT can't understand how to construct a song that's listenable

1- DT has a bigger fanbase, so, obviously, people do care about their riffs.

2- I think DT understands how to construct a song that's listenable, because i consider their songs listenable. I am a person, therefore my opinion counts, and so does a bigger fanbase's. Your argument is moot.

In other words: feel free to suck my dick.

  • @phahq Dreamtheatre is lame dude, have fun jerking off petrucci as he plays another generic sweep and tasteless progression that blows.

  • @anonymouslol

Alright. You have fun making stupid statements with no real arguments to back them.

  • @phahq Fall back on someone having a bigger fanbase to make them a more viable and credible artist. With that logic A Simple Plan is a fucking bucket of talent.

  • @anonymouslol

That variable changes within prog metal. It's already a niche sub-genre of metal, so actual whole-discography listeners can already be assumed from the start to have a selective taste. Comparing the truth of A Simple Plan to DT's is just plain stupid. I advise you to stop commenting back, unless you're ok with keeping sounding like a moron.

  • @phahq Dude you're an elitist queerbag, just stop and begone already.

  • @anonymouslol

Funny. I'm supporting the most well known band of the two, and i'm the elitist.

  • @phahq Well dream theater is also a good band. Just don't compare them to nevermore it's not fair to them. Loomis is one of the greatest guitarists of this or any generation and warrel writes phenomenal lyrics. Dream theater is good but they don't have half the talent or heart.

  • @cocoadog5

Are you telling ME that? I was the one who was telling the original poster to stop comparing both bands, so you should redirect that comment to someone else. Also, what does having the talent or heart mean? Saying they don't have half the talent is, obviously, too erroneous, so i won't even comment on that more fully. And heart? I wish someone could give me a more practical example than that; otherwise it's just, like, your opinion, man.

  • @phahq You used them in the same paragraph. That alone is worthy of retort. Also no not at all. Loomis could outplay them with a broken ukulele. And yes the heart thing is my opinion but just judging by the lyrics and the live show stage presence there really isn't much comparison.

  • @cocoadog5

"Loomis could outplay them with a broken ukulele." Ah, sorry, didn't know Loomis could outplay an entire band with a broken ukelele. My bad. Also, i can totally see you're not biased, at all. I'm assessing a tie, but you're just going all out with hyperbolic claims. Yeah, that really builds rhetoric. Also, "stage presence", "lyrics", that's heart. Ok, fair enough. Then why am i moved by some of the music DT made? Am i damaged? Are you perfect?

  • @phahq Sadly he probably could. The only musical portion of DT that is as skilled is the keyboardist... because nevermore doesn't have one. From a technical skill standpoint there is absolutely no doubt that nevermore has more talent. There lyrics also mean a lot more. You are entitled to your opinion on that one though.

  • @cocoadog5

Yeah, you just proved my point. You did say one thing correct, though: "You are entitled to your opinion on that one though". Even thought it's missing a comma, it says exactly what i've been trying to convey. That's, like, your opinion, man. Now take your pretentious pseudo knowledge out of here, and farewell.

  • @phahq grammar nazi. And also yes the emotional aspect is up to you. However no matter what you feel nevermore is vastly superior as far as talent goes. You may like on better than the other but that doesn't take away from their greater skill level.

  • @cocoadog5

    Troll harder.

  • @phahq I don't see how explaining to you the superiority of a band I planned on listening to is trolling but okay.

  • nevermore's heavier than Dream Theater...not more technical..ask someone who listens to both the bands equally...they'll tell you..Dream Theater are influnced by the 70s style also...so that tends to make them less heavy...anyway...both very unique bands!!

  • Yeah, "Nevermore is more technical than Dream Theater" has to be one of the most retarded things I've ever read. If you prefer Nevermore to DT that's fine, but don't be stupid.

  • @kungfuman82 Well, you're pretty fucking stupid yourself if you say DT are more technincal than Nevermores "This godless endeavor" album

Nevermore has progressed in terms of technics of playing most essentially on guitars over time, DT may have been holding a more frequent level, but today I'd say Jeff Loomis is as techninc as DT guys. DT may be more technincal all over, but its also a matter of what you want to play as a person. Im pretty sure NM guys handles a lot of DT without problems.

  • @kungfuman82

Played guitars for 10 years myself and heavy dedicated. So I know quite a lot of what Im talking about. There nonthing like "they cant do that", "they are more technincal". Its a matter of what you want to play, what comes out of your head. Jeff Loomis sure can do many of the DT solos. When you are at that level, its only what you want to practise, because master it, you will. Trust me.

  • @RareFlax Ooo, I've been schooled on YouTube. I must've really gotten under your skin for you to leave a whopping two comments. I really don't give a shit about your opinion so go back to your 10 years of guitar playing and reply to someone who cares. :-D

  • @kungfuman82 haha no, you dont give a shit because you dont like to hear from people that are actually thaught and know what they speak about :) Noone cares about your pointless "DT ARE BETTER" either, so the same goes for you! :)

  • @RareFlax ... and why do you deem it necessary to comment twice to one post? You know, you don't have to do that.... or does it make you feel like you have a lot to say and, thus, feel more significant?

  • @kungfuman82 and if you didnt realize it "Noone cares about your pointless "DT ARE BETTER" " was pretty much everything I tried to say in my first comments aswell, now fuck off.

  • @RareFlax Not that it matters, but I think the 15 thumbs ups I got means that someone DOES care. Make me fuck off, you insignifcant prick....

  • @RareFlax Hey dickcheese, I'm waiting on an answer.... or do you not have one?

  • @kungfuman82

32 people deserve to die because they liked a post with the R-word.

  • @MrDissidiaFan Read?

  • children comments about this song... Haha

but in therms of Nevermore in my opinion 'The Seven Tongues Of God' track is too much well produced compared with this one.. So its better ! Hahaha

  • I find the song titles to be weird.

  • Nevermore is considered Progressive Metal, which is supposed to sound "weird" because it is pure originality.

  • Well your weird

  • Everytime I play this song in my 06 GTO I seem to drive really fast. Great song from a band I met on this tour, awesome concert!

  • good one

  • omg my fav song ever!!

  • Naruto has been flourishing around japan since the early 90s. i mean.. it could be possible that an american anime company hired a musician of this caliber to record the said theme, Shredding guitarists get hired to do a lot of things from commercials to movie soundtracks, and video games

  • This song pwnz

  • The beginning of "Trouble" by Coldplay sounds like the beginning of this.

    And this came first.

HOW DARE COLDPLAY STEAL FROM MY FAVOURITE METAL BAND

    >:O

  • Did these guys also do a song for Gaara? (Naruto Anime Character)

From the first second till 28 it sounded like Gaara's theme

  • Jesus Christ, everything about this band is perfect. Perfect musicianship. Perfect solos. Perfect production. Perfect tone.

  • Thats nevermore for ya hehehe ^.^

  • Plus perfect songwriting and perfect singing.

They truly are one of the best bands of all time which is saying something because a lot of people like to say similar things in regards to other bands but usually it's out of subjective favoritism than objective criticism.

  • Do you actually think it is possible to objectively evaluate and criticize music? What criteria are you using, and how did you arrive at the criteria in the first place?

  • That I have no direct affiliation with the band. :D

Do you think it is possible to objectively assess an actress' performance even if she two-timed on you and spread lies about you? ;)

  • You can have a less biased opinion for some things like science of course, but never THE objective, ultimate right answer for anything, especially art :P

Say you don't even know the actress and you judge her, you will still have a presupposed idea of what is 'good' acting, so you will still be biased. Of course if she had screwed you over then you would be more biased in a different way ;)

  • I know but what if you get who says Ron Jeremy is a better actor than Ron Howard just because they prefer porn films to regular ones? ;-D

I guess the difference between subjective and objective is when you have viable reasons for liking or disliking something i.e. not in the case of someone who dislikes a band because of their image when they'd like them if they adopted an image that they find preferable.

  • I know what you mean, you can like some music for genuine reasons as opposed to poser reasons... i just hate the word 'objective' because it seems like such an absolute and intolerant word, like if someone said 'metal is objectively worse than the music I like' I would think they were a complete arrogant little dickhead, much rather they said 'I don't like metal as much as some other stuff' hehe :P

  • That's completely understandable. :-) :-D

The one thing I hate about society are people who like something just because it's the trendy thing to like. In this case, it just reduces music to a sociological requirement so one can gain acceptance rather than personal progression of taste.

Anyway, I'd like to see Nevermore gain a lot of attention. Likewise with the band Nothing Gained. =-) =-D

  • Nevermore rules.

    Nothing else need be said.

  • @murderaddiction Well Jesus Christ has nothing to do with it, BUT yes AGREED NEVERMORE are great TECHNICAL THRASH METAL the same as TESTAMENT are. Very HEAVY and GREAT MUSICIANSHIP TOO!!!666 As well as very DARK lyric topics too and that is always GREAT!!!

  • @murderaddiction Jesus Christ is this band in form of music

  • @murderaddiction ... , perfect lyrics...

  • Saw this tour. Nevermore and Iced Earth. Great.

  • i wish i could see Iced Earth and Nevermore...

  • I saw them here in CT at the webster theater on this tour.We got to go back stage with them and party. They were one of the coolest bands I have ever got to hang out with.Warrel Dane(singer)is one funny mother fucker.

  • They are very cool. The band set out in front of the bar for hours. I actually left before they did. Matt Barlow of Iced Earth walked around in the crowd before the show saying Hello to everyone. It is great to see how some bands really appreciate their fans.

  • That's because Barlow is the shit

  • amazing band..all their albums are top notch

  • Brilliant album and my favorite song from it. This band has yet to disappoint me.
