Did you write the Chinese lyrics? I thought the song was originally in Japanese or was it in Chinese as well? Are you guys working or studying in Beijing? I've never been but I'd love to.

堤邊弱柳君憐否 望柳自悲泣 This version was published in 1945 in Sing Tao Newspaper in Hong Kong. There were three verses, but that is all comes back to my mind now. I will post the other verses here once I can find them in my old papers.

There are other Chinese Lyrics. I still remember one published in Sing Tao Newspaper in Hong Kong in 1945. One of the verses is posted below

My grandad said he met Li Hsiang Lan briefly in HK back in the 50s while she was working on a Shaw's film.

你的記憶力很好. 60多年前的歌詞還記得到. 李香蘭今年都87歲了. 她跟邵氏拍電影時我公曾在一家飯店遇過她及跟她說話. 現在日本有一個劇是關於她一生的, 不過看起來好像很差, 失望地,演她的演員不是一個像李香蘭一樣的好歌手.
