  • The Redneck method.

  • I did a version of this and my dv6000 has been worked hard every day since for 3 months. I made an aluminum shield, used an IR thermometer, replaced the foam pad on top of the GPU with enough copper shims to fit snug (this is essential), good thermal paste, and installed Speedfan to monitor temperature (also essential). If it gets to 60C, I IMMEDIATELY halt anything using the CPU and cool to below 58. I treat 60 as an emergency. Mine runs low 50's most of the time...high 40's at idle.

    Customer Reviews:

This device is a better option for those who are thinking to buy a netbook as I wanted. There are some reasons I didn't bought a netbook: - Almost all have 160 GB HD - It has only 1gb ram, instead some that have 2gb - Some have reduced keyboard - They don't have dedicated video card This HP-Dv2 has more good things like: - It's also thin ...

  • what thing use you for weld the Nvidia ? speak spanish

  • hi friend could you pass me the video at normal speed please thank you

  • 1:45

  • Isnt reballing taking out the GPU and putting solder paste in it?

  • I want this video on my F610 phone.

  • Your vid went viral on Santo Domingo

  • Plz plz send me the song. Man didn't know russian rap sounds this good

  • thanks!

  • to all those who trying to fix this without opening your computer try this method keep ur computer on and put it inside a backpack and close the backpack and leave the computer inside while its on for around 30 to 40 mins then take the computer out unplug it and take the battery out really fast and with TWO fingers pressed and hold "Enter" for about 30 seconds then put battery on and turn computer on and quickly press on F7 as many times as u can, it should turn on. this has worked TWICE for me

  • I guarantee this "fix" was only temporary. Laptops such as this that suffer video problems really need to be reballed by a trained professional. Shelling out a few bucks is worth it, than having to replace the entire board...

  • Worked great with that type of lighter! Thanks a lot!!

  • would this trick work with geforce 8400 g ????

  • please help me i need to do this :(

  • the problem is how will i re assemble it again :( i want to fix my pc myself cuz i couldnt afford the money :((

  • Some of you people are pure A -Holes. This guy takes his time and effort to resurrect an otherwise worthless MB.and comments are made regarding ruining the MB .... DUH ,,,it's a boat anchor now so how much worse can it get?

I suspect Many people are stupid but when you open your mouth you only prove me to be correct.

The board is shot,The board is shot,The board is shot ...so how are you going to make it worse?

  • solution work!!! Many thanks!

  • Lololololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like Russian way. And to all of you smart advisers, this s...t really works. It is not first time I hear about reheating chip. And HP F.....k you, way not to make board that stands time. One way or another, if you take it to lab they will charge for changing board or ...say that they did but reheat the chip themselves. So I'll try it, nothing to loose anyway.

  • this repair last like 5 days or less with no new termopaste and no

    reflow liquid

  • thnx man , ur the best, i have fixed my own DV6 now , thnx again

  • Duude it actually worked,I culd kiss ya,finally I was so affraid I had to send it for repair and give out alot of money but this worked for me and saved me,ure a god

  • hey dude what happened to the good old dab of pure whip?

  • wow, very fast, simple, functional, low price, congratulations, i like you video, is very nice and useful. Greetings, bye : )

  • it's worked for me , thanks !

  • on 2:05 I think he burned something on the rightcorner below which sparked a little :d I think he wanted to play CS badly! xD

  • You're Russian... what a fucking surprise lol

  • I was in a similar situation. I had a really nice DV9000 that had the classic no-video issue, but I didn't have $200 for a motherboard. I also didn't want to give up without a fight. So I tried the "reflow" idea.

Instead of a lighter, I used a butane torch. I applied heat for about 60 seconds on the video card chip. I put it back together and... we have a fully functioning notebook! Don't know how long this will last.

BTW, I tried this on another dead DV6000, and that one is working too!

  • @i80386sx How long it last? I want to try too, but I gonna put some copper shims on it too! Please let me know, thanks!

  • @daniellikahong On machines that had the no video issue (2/2). I use my 9000 quite often (8hours a day) and it is still going strong without glitches. My friends DV9000 is stable after doing this as well.

Machines that didn't turn on at all (1/2). The one that I did fix is still going after two weeks. The one that I couldn't fix wouldn't charge the battery and would not give me wireless at all.

Copper shims are a must on AMD based systems. Best of luck to you.

  • Hardcore! I like it.

  • I fixed mi lap! it worked without a fucken problem, even more I took the lap to a place to get fixed with the infrared rays technique and it didn't worked.

Still I wanna know the name of the song...

  • @fesaliub Треш-Шапито Кач - На хуй Штаты

  • what is the name of the song attached to this video please tell me any one i have searched it every where but cant find it...please help

  • You did a great job.... I will try this soon..... I love how you Improvised

  • it's work for me, but by a hairdryer! really cool!

  • It's a temporary fix. Usually lasting a week or two. (Long enough to sell it) then the next person stuck with it sells it broken on ebay. I have repaired over 200 of them the correct way. The 6 view display was similar to one I had on a DV2500. An it is the addressing chip for the GPU.

  • nice job ........if they only read it properly.....low on finances.......

  • Hi All

I Have tried this and it works very fine

i have no experience but really it worked fine

Thanks For this Solution really appreciating

    Regards

  • lololololol unscrew everything u see

  • hey if it works why not hahaha

  • @hechoencali89 but it does not last. Its a way to rip off the next person he sells it to on Craigslist.

  • infrared station reballing ftw

  • i don't get it how so many people just wine on a perfectly working solution on how to fix a problem...

He obviusly fixes it here and even warns that this can damage components.

THAnkz M8 and god russian rap aswell.

    Fack Yall haters!

btw, this is just a short term solution, the long term solution is carefully explained on another vid here on utube.

  • @efekten Where' s the long term solution? I'd ideally like to only take apart my laptop once.

  • @efekten Actually the long term solution is to trash HP as a company and buy Sony. Cuz Sonys never die, they just get obsolete.

  • sorry man, when you reasemble it, doesnt need any thermal paste? and some dv6000 doesnt have this large video chip, only the chip at processor side. why? thanks for this video.

  • CRAZY """

    BORAT STYLE'S REFLOW

    LOL

  • Oh my God. I can't believe they have videos like this on here.

Look - I'm not here to promote my business, I'm really not. I don't care who you go to get your motherboard fixed - but, don't do this. Geez.

I do have Q & A on my site, so google PrecisionDivision . com and you can read why this kind of advice is bad. This kind of damage is permanent - you don't get unlimited tries to fix a board.

Bad motherboard repair advice is rampant on here - from lighters to placing loose change on the GPU

  • @precisiondivisionfla just like i said. it is a very unsafe method....

just happened once i didnt have any other option...

  • @mrcerf if u have a good idea for sulution , why not post your video here. U just want people visit ur fucking website!!!! Your video also have no fucking solution

  • It worked for me. My motherboard was going to trash otherwise. Just finished the job. I did 5 tries, each time heating, pushing down and testing. Each time I increased the temperature some seconds. I did something different though. I used thick aluminium paper to make a mask leaving a window with the exact size of the video card to protect the board, removed earlier thermal mass residues and applied a new layer. Medium temperature of GPU went down 10 Celsius. Thanks a lot. Great tip!!!!!!!!

  • @precisiondivisionfla

lol @ im not trying to promote my site. Your advise is bad. I mean really what are you hurting by trying, you can still buy a motherboard if it doesn't work. Im glad that people take time to show people how they saved some money and fixed their computer or whatever. I never post on anything im just so tired of arrogant cocksuckers that dont know shit trying to knock good people off their feet

so thank you mrcef!! your way fixed my dv9000 i saved money

  • does it work on hp pavilion dv9000?

  • Works absolutely beautifully! I didnt use a lighter opting for the safer heat gun method. The first time I tried it didnt work because I didnt apply pressure to it. Second time with pressure worked like a charm. Thanks so much!

  • How much times do you do the, does the screen problem still keep occuring?

  • What is the name of the artist and song in the video?

  • @peepeeface43 why would you want a russian trash-song?

  • @mrcerf I would want a russian trash song

  • for all

the song is ka4 - Нахуй Штаты!

    available from

    can be found here

    ka4.spb.ru

  • @peepeeface43 It's Республиканцы настаивают, from Зарегистрироваться album !!

  • @peepeeface43 do you also like feeling pee on your face? sorry but your name is a litte like O.o

mine in english means litteraly pooassshitpee. seriously. but i dont like those things on my body or somethin

  • well... I've tried it this summer, it worked. thnx man! i know this is an unsafe metod but it workes. i have a great laptop now.

  • LOL. Co za kretyn !!!. Przypal sobie głowę tą zapalniczką :). Skąd się biorą tacy fachowcy ? Ile zielska trzeba wyjarać ?

  • had exactly the same display problem as yours. I used a "blow torch" lighter like yours, cleaned the cpu and gpu applied thermal heat compound and put it back together. works like a charm. thanks

  • Comment removed

  • what a bafoon. do this to destroy your laptop. the person is heating the processor with the lighter, not even the video chip. hes looking for someone to follow his directions so you destroy your board for his cheap thrills....boo

  • @legacypc1 1:50 processor lower right corner

  • @mrcerf You're on the CPU. LOL. I've done the disassembly myself and the smaller chip is the GPU.

  • @legacypc1 it worked, I did this to my laptop when it had the same problem, it fixed right up and now works better than ever

  • @legacypc1 donkey thats the nvidia video chip not the processor. get it right before commenting, you make yourself look a bit of an ass frankly.

  • @legacypc1 processor is in a socket.....lol....gpu bga

  • With lighter? Are you stupid? still it wont last long:D You need to get all solder joints to melt under chip without hurting chip. But with direct flame= death waits you :D

  • @Thewestofestonia it still works...

  • @mrcerf Yes, but the chip internal structure (layers) has been dealt a hard blow and there's no guarantee that it won't fail - forever - in the long run. Direct flames are meant to burn, remember. You should better have used a power hairdryer if you couldn't afford a heating gun. Now cross your fingers and enjoy your resurrected pc. Cheers!

  • slow down already!!

  • xD ruskaja muzika

  • Nice...

  • fcuking hell lol nice one!

  • kolhoz in action! =)
