  • I wouldn't use this junk if you paid me to.

  • Great review! just picked up this lense and very happy with it!

  • Galing pre, may alam ka bang seller nyan>? im buying one kse ^^,

  • Q pls...is it worth the extra money to go with the VC version or go with this one without stabilisation...??

  • Thanks for a good review : )

  • di you get payed by tamron

  • Jeez guys, settle down...its not a bad review! Although the deeply ribbed part was funny.. "Tamron 17-50 XR Di II Lens, Ribbed for Her Pleasure" xD

  • @4:40 can't say I've ever carried a cam like that. I'd usually like my camera up front in my sight at all times. But that's just me...

  • ok im hearing a lotta good things for picture quality..with this lens what about movie quality??

  • Kuya, how would you compare it with the VC version. I heard a lot of rumor that the non VC version is sharper than the VC one. Consequently, they said that the non VC's AF focus (Canon User) is not accurate. Is this true? Please let me know ... Thanks!

  • how many times did he say "LENS" again??

  • dre.. pinoy ka no?? ramdam ko eh.. hahaha... salamat sa review.. keep up the goodwork!!

  • "Deeply ribbed zoom ring"..."deceptive focus sound"...this looks more like a copy of the review posted on the-digital-picture rather than a hands-on review proper...

  • can you do anything on this lens for the Infinity Focus?

  • this guy is def paid by tamron to say this stuff... sounds too much like a salesman, all good good good and inputting a little bit of "oh i missed some shots because...."

not to mention wat he talks about here is copied from this web review word for word almost by this popluar lens reviewer

  • this guy is def paid by tamron to say this stuff... sounds too much like a salesman, all good good good and inputting a little bit of "oh i missed some shots because...."

  • Did you write the review on the-digital-picture? The review says, "Build quality is not rugged, but it is solid - very adequate I would say. The included hood is similarly built. The rubber on the zoom ring is grippy, soft and deeply ribbed." That's almost exactly word-for-word.

  • is this better than the sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 MACRO HSM? im deciding what to get between the two... tnx in advance...

  • Wow...the photographs are really nice :)

  • Sigma 17-50 2.8 is way better for mine option

  • I think this guys is Tamron representative as not all Tamron lens is as good as what he said

  • his face is to close to the screen, its fucking creepy get mto the side of the video not the middle of the screen

  • Someone help me please...

I just brought tamron 18-270, when i got home i compare the range with my nikon 55-200, i have the same result with my nikon at 200mm and tamron at 270. Is this normal??? suppose to be the tamron have a long range rather than nikon.

  • After reading top angry comments, This review becomes so funny )))

  • No indeed, I *don't want my lens protruding and retracting unwantedly, thank you very much.

    Woo-hoo! Sim Lim Square!

    Thanks man

  • Should i get this lens? or the Tammie 28-75? Can you do a review on that aswell? please? or even a comparison?

  • are You drunk? dude you spoke so strange.. but the review is ok. greets

  • Really funny guy :D

  • sir.... can you give me some websites of camera stores in singapore who sells lenses and other camera accesories...

  • tamron or Pentax DA*17-50mm f2.8 ?

  • Dude stop moving your annoying be natural and professional. Its like your dancing or something...

  • A review of a lens where we actually didn't see much of the lens. We saw an awful lot of him though, close up, FX, all sorts. Makes you wonder whether the point of this video was to see a review or to make us all watch his slobbery features for 10 minutes.....

  • Good review.

  • This guy is fuckn annoying i want to take his camera and smash it over his fuckn head!

    God Dam Noob!!

STFU and just review the fuckn lens ass-wipe!

  • If you're not a pixel peeper to the maximum extent and love actually making images get this lens.

I got it for less than half of the Nikon equivalents a year or so ago. Unless I need the better build quality of the Nikon will probably never buy name brand standard zooms... I could buy 3 of these for the price of one nikon 17-55... or, well if you're a photographer, you know what 1000 dollars will buy you.

Unless you have tons of money to burn for Nikon lenses this lens fits the bill superbly.

  • nice review, thanks for it, but it sounds a little like an ad - try not to talk like a salesperson :)

  • Like your dick?? lol...

  • nice review, BUT the af is not fast... its ok, but nowhere close to fast... but for the money its the best :)

  • too close to the camera bro.

  • You like your rubbers deeply ribbed? Enough said lol

  • hey cris, the tamron 17-50 with vc just came out, is it available there in sing? hope you can make a review very soon.. thanks

  • hi chris, do you mean once you turn on the cam this lens produce the high pitch noise? or when you are focusing?

  • only when focusing.

  • pre, how much did u bought ur lens?TIA

  • hey!

    I was just wondering

    Are you even singaporean?

You seem to lack that singlish thing even I have going on.

    Peace!

  • @Q124R: He sounds Filipino. That's how most Filipinos who are fluent in English sound. Singaporean accent sounds different. Well, it depends if they're Chinese-Singaporean, Malay-Singaporean, or Indian-Singaporean. Most of them sound like they have the Chinese accent.

  • @pinoyklubber I know, which is why I asked whether he really was from singapore, because it's singaporetechreview. haha. I'm one of 'em, so I was wondering why he lacked the singlish thing nearly every made-in-singapore singaporean has.

  • this lens produces kind of over-warmed colored photos. For the rest, it's a excellent lens. I got myself a perfect brandnew copy in Saigon, Vietnam for just 350$

  • got mine a copy of the lens just this afternoon! lovin it

  • Hi ahentepoako,

Just wanted know wher u bought ur lens? Just curious

    Chris

  • here in ph, been playin with it never taken out the smile in my face everytime i use it.. can you have a review on 90mm macro.. contemplating on buying one.. are you disposing yours hehehe punta ako dyan by sept

  • thanks for the great review, man!

  • Pinoy ka ba chong?

  • Pinoy na pinoy :-)

  • Ayos pre! Ok yung review mo. Yan na balak kong upgrade na lens for our Canon 1000D. Pang general purpose talaga sya. Salamat sa review =)

  • @singaporetechreview

Haha. I knew it, there were times that your accent hinted that you're Pinoy. Great review, pare. :)

  • @singaporetechreview

that explains the non-Singaporean accent =)

  • hilarious when he throws his camera over his shoulder. verrrry cool way of carrying ur slr...

  • $550-600? i just bought it for $420 off amazon.

  • Hi craniumdesigns,

550-600 is in Singapore dollars. That should be around the US$ 400 dollar range.

    Thanks for dropping a comment.

    Chris

  • this lens is really a fanstantic lens. Own one and really impressed by its performance. Great review, well done.

  • Hey, just subscribed. Should I get a Canon 17-55 or Tamron 17-50? How bout a review on that? heh

  • Hi honesthua,

I am not sure about Canon 17-55. Is that compatible with full frame sensors? The Tamron 17-50 is for cropped 1.5,,,1.6.

I suggest you decide based on the above criteria and the price.

Kindly share your shots, FLickr site....

    Chris

  • Awesome video ! Thank you for sharing .

    nutier

  • this lens is awesome. especially the ribbed feature. heheehe. my mate has the model under. its good but this sounds great

  • heya~ great review~

but could use more technical info such as how it handles flare, ca, etc

  • Yes! Very informative and concise review!

I'm considering this lens for my Canon 50D to replace the kit lens. I like the fact the Tamron has internal focus. I hate how my 50D kit lens opens and closes when I wear it with a strap.
