Do you seriously want the game to be set in 50 copy/paste dungeons where you feel like a rat finding a way out of a maze, or go into open lively landscapes and paint them all with demon blood? It certainly has less pentagrams and satanic symbols, but I don't see the problem with that, it's still dark and edgy. -_-

It was funny to kill goatman by teleporting into closed room spawn 2 hydras and teleport away and just waiting there when you start listening to slaughter.

@Alpito123 Right now, with all the Gameplay videos, it looks like Diablo 3 is gonna have WoW-like graphics, but with an RTS Camera view. It looks alot like Diablo 2 for gameplay, but apparently they're gonna have class specific quests and lots of side quests. @Alpito123: You are only scared so far in your life. It's mostly the music that did the most part of the atmosphere not the darkness. It's because the music was made to fit to the darkness or the darkness was made to fit with the music or something like that. Why should a game be dark to be scary? Isn't it funnier to SEE what you kill instead of hardly seeing the silhuets? I would love to see how Blizzard made their monsters and see their details.
@Igorsov: I disagree. You only need to play the games you like. I myself however love ALL Diablo games, including what I've seen of D3 so far as well as Diablo 1. I found it very difficult down in the Hell levels. Creepy place(walls of bone and rivers of blood, some says it's lava but lava doesn't look like that and I find it looks more like blood, inside the walls and flesh on the walls as well). Wow this takes me back. The Hell Knights were a pain >< XD. Fun game though :). Beat it 2-3 times.

Diablo 1 ist der Beste Teil, unheimlicher Hintergrund, sehr gute Geschichte, coole Musik und gothische Aufmachung. Auf der Play Station ist das Spiel sogar auf deutsch sowie die ganze Hintergrundgeschichte, die man sich anzuhören kann. Die PC Version leider Englisch, aber Grafik und Steuerung besser.
PS das Video von Diablo 3 ist wie ne Mischung aus Warcraft 3, Herr der Ringe und was sonst noch, der letzte Mist, das ist kein Diablo, ich erkenne es nicht mehr wider.

They should remake diablo 1 but more in a prince of persia style. The RPG element wouldn't fit in if you only stay in one village that gets destroyed later on. Plus it would be more scary since you know that upgrading is out of the question and skill is the only answer to survive

Diablo 1 is epic, its creepy and eerie environment makes you feel like you were really part of the game, scary, dark and evil environment combined with sound effects make it even scarier. I just hope they make Diablo 3 this way not graphics wise but eerie wise. Dark and scary should be the best environment for diablo :)

In terms of atmosphere I've yet to play an action RPG that surpasses Diablo 1. I'm glad the art direction for Diablo 3 was reviewed and hope it falls more in line with this original classic. The Tristram theme still resonates with me, I hope it's something they retain throughout the series.
From a gameplay perspective it wasn't perfect but at the time this game changed the way I thought about games. Only Diablo 2 has managed to inspire similar feelings since.
This game scared the shit out of me when I was 10 years old. I remember my 80 year old grandfather, would sit beside me and watch me play computer games during the summer, this was the only game he liked to watch!

Yeah D2 had the better gameplay but D1 had the best atmosphere. I remember playing this game when I was like 9 and having the poo scared out of me over and over. Like when I first found the Butcher's room, just opening doors all over the place, nothing to worry about, la la la, then all of a sudden out of this door "MMMMMM FRESH MEAT" with the speakers turned up loud. LOL so funny, I probably screamed like a little girl. =P

I think it is its simplicity that makes it so much better than diablo 2. diablo 1 just was about one doomed little village with one cursed little chapel, and hell followed beneath. Just about diggin deeper and deeper, where it´s get darker and darker, until you meet diablo.
I agree. Diablo 2 is so typical of a game made in the 2000s... just all over the place. Both were fun though. But not much of an impact like Diablo 1.

Take in mind that Blizzard MAY add Necro, even if Witch Doctor is in the game bc Witch Doctor summons undead dogs and zombies and all that while Necromancers summons skeletons and golems : /. Paladin can also be put in the game even if Monk is present. So don't lose your hopes yet. PERIOD!
I honestly can not say how much of an emotional impact this video has on me. This is one of the first great games I ever played in my life, and I'm sure I'll remember it years from now. In comparison to Diablo II, I would have to say D1 had a darker atmosphere, which I richly enjoyed.
D1 was better than D2 because it was.. 1. More challenging 2. Had way more charisma 3. Better music and atmosphere 4. Better balance in the classes/items 5. The succubi were bare chested. If you disagree you can kindly go chew on some glass :).
Considerbly one of the best CG work of all time. In 1995-1996 this game was released with that CG video. Today i'm in VFx and cg artist because of this video which wow'ed me in 1996 and even the game too. Hats off to whoever did this he must be the most talented CG artist in the world.Imagine there wouldn't be such amazing rendering system in those days. Even today if u want to render this video it would hardly take 3days to do it! I'm just blinded by these people and Idsoftware.

They should remake diablo 1 but more in a prince of persia style. The RPG element wouldn't fit in if you only stay in one village that gets destroyed later on. Plus it would be more scary since you know that upgrading is out of the question and skill is the only answer to survive

Diablo 1 is epic, its creepy and eerie environment makes you feel like you were really part of the game, scary, dark and evil environment combined with sound effects make it even scarier. I just hope they make Diablo 3 this way not graphics wise but eerie wise. Dark and scary should be the best environment for diablo :)

In terms of atmosphere I've yet to play an action RPG that surpasses Diablo 1. I'm glad the art direction for Diablo 3 was reviewed and hope it falls more in line with this original classic. The Tristram theme still resonates with me, I hope it's something they retain throughout the series.
From a gameplay perspective it wasn't perfect but at the time this game changed the way I thought about games. Only Diablo 2 has managed to inspire similar feelings since.

This game scared the shit out of me when I was 10 years old. I remember my 80 year old grandfather, would sit beside me and watch me play computer games during the summer, this was the only game he liked to watch!

Like when I first found the Butcher's room, just opening doors all over the place, nothing to worry about, la la la, then all of a sudden out of this door "MMMMMM FRESH MEAT" with the speakers turned up loud. LOL so funny, I probably screamed like a little girl. =P

I think it is its simplicity that makes it so much better than diablo 2. diablo 1 just was about one doomed little village with one cursed little chapel, and hell followed beneath. Just about diggin deeper and deeper, where it´s get darker and darker, until you meet diablo.

I agree. Diablo 2 is so typical of a game made in the 2000s... just all over the place. Both were fun though. But not much of an impact like Diablo 1.

@blockprodukt Well, I'm pretty sure that one you go down 1 floor its just as dark as the deepest, as no sunlight means no sunlight. But yea, I think it has a very unique and good plot.

@Soothfish if what I've read is true, Diablo 3 will suck cause they removed the funniest-to-play classes (pala, necro, assassin and druid). Again, I'm not sure this is true, but if it is, then I won't EVER play that game :x

Take in mind that Blizzard MAY add Necro, even if Witch Doctor is in the game bc Witch Doctor summons undead dogs and zombies and all that while Necromancers summons skeletons and golems : /. Paladin can also be put in the game even if Monk is present. So don't lose your hopes yet. PERIOD!

I honestly can not say how much of an emotional impact this video has on me. This is one of the first great games I ever played in my life, and I'm sure I'll remember it years from now. In comparison to Diablo II, I would have to say D1 had a darker atmosphere, which I richly enjoyed.

D1 was better than D2 because it was.. 1. More challenging 2. Had way more charisma 3. Better music and atmosphere 4. Better balance in the classes/items 5. The succubi were bare chested. If you disagree you can kindly go chew on some glass :).

Considerbly one of the best CG work of all time. In 1995-1996 this game was released with that CG video. Today i'm in VFx and cg artist because of this video which wow'ed me in 1996 and even the game too. Hats off to whoever did this he must be the most talented CG artist in the world.Imagine there wouldn't be such amazing rendering system in those days. Even today if u want to render this video it would hardly take 3days to do it! I'm just blinded by these people and Idsoftware.
