The audience is actually clapping on beat. It's just that the hall creates lots of reverb, and the clapping takes a while to get to the camera. They're clapping offbeats, which is totally fine musically since this is a jazzy rendition ;)
HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY ALL CLAPPING OUT OF TIME!?!?!?!?
i can understand a few in the audience like my dad wouldn't be able to keep a beat but likes joining in and i slap him around for it because it does my head in clapping out of time xD if they played any less perfect i wouldn't be here listening to it XD
@Jpec07 concert halls are big, timing is off because they wernt part of the concert for one and for two sound travel makes it difficult for anyone to be correct to other people . each individual person could be correct in their own timing from hearing it themselves but the recording could be way off because the equipment doing the recording is farther away form the clapping then the orchestra itself
0:35 is thinking MAKE THEM STOP STOP CLAPPIN YOU IDIOTS!!! BAKKKKA BAKA XD 0:56 She's looks she's going to burst XD 1:28 is FF7 3:23 to 3:55 Solo 4:16 Drum solo 4:30 APPLAUSE ARIGATO MINA
Why's everyone whining about the clapping? The song's meant to be bouncy and silly, it's about riding a giant chicken ffs. The conductor's enjoying himself, the audience are enjoying themselves, why can't you enjoy yourselves? Lighten up.
Compared to the one played at Stockholm, I can see clearly that Westerners are better at catching the jazzy feeling of the song. But well, the public enjoyed it, so it's not bad ;)
Clapping on down or up beat, who cares, it ruins the music, it wound be much better if the audience learns to shut the hell up and respect the musicians and the composition.
haha, i agree with you 100%, the constant clapping irritated me so much, but i love the FFX chcobo theme regardless of its variation so i had to watch it..
Yeah, the theme is really great. What is amazing about this particular performance is how the musicians can still stay on beat with the audience's clapping trying to throw them off.
the clapping isn't syncopated, the music is (at times). The song begins syncopated, playing on the up beat instead of the down beat, but the clapping is always following the down beat.
What, because they are clapping on the down beat, and the down beat, and half the song is syncopated, playing on the up beat? learn your music before you make dumb comments.
...Seriously, this is badass (why are Squenix still using low-quality midis for their in-game soundtracks?), but is there a version sans "audience participation?" It's clear that this swing rhythm is a little too complex for the otaku attending this concert. (Though to their credit, they're at least off the rhythm in unison. Which is weird at best.)
Is that seriously it? I was so sure it must have something to do with some sort of sound lag from the audience to the recording device. Haha. God they suck at clapping if that's the case.
no there just claping with the rythem...and also cause they love it XD...the conductor just gives timeing to the musicans. i think...correct me if im wrong.
true, I guess I've been focusing more on the smaller ensembles, and the dynamic there. Still, I think there are some really talented large groups that could perform without conduction... though it'd probably be a good thing to have a good conductor!
The audience is clapping on the beat. The reason why it sounds off beat is because concert halls are big, and sound takes longer to get places. The people in the audience who are clapping are in different places, so the sound is not only getting to them at gradually later times, but the recording probably happened at the front of the stage, so their clapping takes an equally long time to get back to the front of the hall. Even if they were clapping with the conductor, it would still sound late.
nope, musicians are trained to focus on three things only, the conductor (if they're even doing anything... a good orchestra can play without one), the sheet music (if not memorized), and most importantly, the rest of the group to get pitch, tempo, and other playing cues.
the clapping is soooo annoyyyingggg!!! i would be mad if i was there lol i wouldnt be able to concentrate on playing the music if people were clapping off beat the whole time
I listened for 4 minutes before glancing down to read the comments, seeing yours, noticing the clapping, and immidiatly getting very pissed off with the next 45 seconds of video.
look at one of the more recent comments.. its explains about concert halls and al that... they WERE clapping offbeat but because of the size the sound didnt get there at the same time.. anyways i would be so happy if people were to clap during the time that id be playing cause then i would know they like the song im playing! :)
I love videogamemusic orchestras. Too bad that there are no concerts like this in Germany. Would love it to see the play of great titles from Final Fantasy. I love Chocobos! They are so cute! X3 Thanks for the video!^^
Maybe it's because when people clap the sound waves take too long to catch up with the audience. I'm in marching band and whenever the crowd claps, it's hard to keep time because the sound waves are too slow.
Oh, come off it! Surely you can't say that you take this peice of music SERIOUSLY!? Surely you can't say that you're not guilty of taking just a brief moment whilst playing the game to fetch a drink whilst the music is running, then boogied your way back to your seat?
its because sound travels slower than light so like yeah, thats why the clapping is way off, in the audience , they think they are clapping on the on beat but yeah...still i really liked this
