  • The audience is actually clapping on beat. It's just that the hall creates lots of reverb, and the clapping takes a while to get to the camera. They're clapping offbeats, which is totally fine musically since this is a jazzy rendition ;)

  • I'm so confused... if they audience is asian, why can't they count?

  • omg it's so annoying when they are clapping.... the whole orchestra rhythm and timing is different....

  • I wish Chocobo's were real :)

  • HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY ALL CLAPPING OUT OF TIME!?!?!?!?

i can understand a few in the audience like my dad wouldn't be able to keep a beat but likes joining in and i slap him around for it because it does my head in clapping out of time xD if they played any less perfect i wouldn't be here listening to it XD

  • Props to the director and orchestra for keeping their timing going through that off-beat clapping!

  • #EPIC #FAIL #TROLL CLAPPING

  • the crowd weren't that far off, plus it takes a while for the people at the back to hear than the people at the front

  • And they....keep....on clapping...o.o

  • The conductor looks like its enjoying...

    Great :DDD

    Goddammit the Clap...

  • DON’T CLAP!

  • jolly good stuff

  • FAIL clapping is FAIL

  • ไม่น่าปรบมือเลย เสียจังหวะหมด

  • ...how can the entire crowd be THAT off for the ENTIRE song?

  • @Jpec07 concert halls are big, timing is off because they wernt part of the concert for one and for two sound travel makes it difficult for anyone to be correct to other people . each individual person could be correct in their own timing from hearing it themselves but the recording could be way off because the equipment doing the recording is farther away form the clapping then the orchestra itself

  • Japanese people look like they're going to self destruct whilst playing flute

  • STUPID CLAP!!!! What do you think an orchestra is??

  • WHO IS CLAPPING??????

  • @TheCameoAfro1 EVERYONE!

  • GAH! The chocobo ride segment from FFX...other than the lightning dodge game, the hardest moment in that game for me!!

  • 0:35 is thinking MAKE THEM STOP STOP CLAPPIN YOU IDIOTS!!! BAKKKKA BAKA XD 0:56 She's looks she's going to burst XD 1:28 is FF7 3:23 to 3:55 Solo 4:16 Drum solo 4:30 APPLAUSE ARIGATO MINA
  • chocobo mombo

  • Maybe they were told to clap becuase alot of the version o fthe chocobo song have clapping like final fantasy 9

  • conductor used reflect or dispel to not be derailed by stupid clapping

  • @TheAwexome lol

  • kweeh~

  • to this day i still wonder how the hell someone can get off tempo if the song is playing loud enough for them to know when they should be clapping :d

  • The clapping, if out beat, will affect the tempo of the piece. It's a good thing they have a great conductor who's immune to that O.o

  • Comment removed

  • Why's everyone whining about the clapping? The song's meant to be bouncy and silly, it's about riding a giant chicken ffs. The conductor's enjoying himself, the audience are enjoying themselves, why can't you enjoy yourselves? Lighten up.

  • lol the clapping fail is because its such a big arena it takes longer for the sound to reach the audience, so to them it probably sounds on beat.

  • damn clapping.

When I palyed in my school strings orchestra, the out of beat clapping always throws me off.

  • the clapping ruined it dammit

  • Compared to the one played at Stockholm, I can see clearly that Westerners are better at catching the jazzy feeling of the song. But well, the public enjoyed it, so it's not bad ;)

  • @dragonheadthing

Japanese are not very good at expressing their emotions. We Japanese only know nothing but clapping in a case like this.

The clapping means "We are enjoying you!" or " I'm delighting!".

  • and that's why i hate people who clap wi' nae rythym(however you spell it)

i only like the FFVII chocobos at the farm when they dance and give you the materia=D

  • who on earth desided to clap.

  • Shit, the director is grinning like a kid in the candy store! He's having more fun the audience, lucky bastard.

  • Ugh... People clapping. :/

  • Clapping on down or up beat, who cares, it ruins the music, it wound be much better if the audience learns to shut the hell up and respect the musicians and the composition.

  • The clapping ruined the jazziness of the song :(

Oh well, it's still really cool. I always loved the FFX version but I wish that they included even a hint of the original.

  • They do. See 0:52. The flutes are totally playing the original theme.

  • @spriddlez

    Piccolo. But it's whatever.

  • haha, i agree with you 100%, the constant clapping irritated me so much, but i love the FFX chcobo theme regardless of its variation so i had to watch it..

  • Yeah, the theme is really great. What is amazing about this particular performance is how the musicians can still stay on beat with the audience's clapping trying to throw them off.

  • Swing de Chocobo is one of my fav chocobo songs.

:( they have only been to colorado one time, i wish they would come back i love distant worlds

  • That clapping pretty much ruins what is otherwise awesome.

  • the clapping isn't syncopated, the music is (at times). The song begins syncopated, playing on the up beat instead of the down beat, but the clapping is always following the down beat.

  • wow, syncopated clapping. That's more difficult than normal clapping! D:

  • the conductor sure seems to be enjoying himself :DD

  • Comment removed

  • clapping fail

  • yes, indeed

  • What, because they are clapping on the down beat, and the down beat, and half the song is syncopated, playing on the up beat? learn your music before you make dumb comments.

  • final fantasy x i believe

  • yes :)

  • LOL @ the video screen!

  • sounds like big band fuc yeah

  • 1:12 to 1:40 epic

  • ajaj they should not be clapping, specially if they are going to be out of rythm xDD

great version of the song, one of my favorites

  • @50ulHunt3r The conductor and his musicians rock because they keep the good rythm even if the audience claps out of it :D

  • ...Seriously, this is badass (why are Squenix still using low-quality midis for their in-game soundtracks?), but is there a version sans "audience participation?" It's clear that this swing rhythm is a little too complex for the otaku attending this concert. (Though to their credit, they're at least off the rhythm in unison. Which is weird at best.)

  • lol, i noticed that too

  • Is that seriously it? I was so sure it must have something to do with some sort of sound lag from the audience to the recording device. Haha. God they suck at clapping if that's the case.

  • I wonder if that messed with any of the musicians...

  • they're in a pretty big venue... reverb/dissolution etc. would do a pretty decent job of screwing up the rhythm for the attending audience.

  • what a havoc, with the audience clapping. Are they being asked to clap by the conductor or what?

  • no there just claping with the rythem...and also cause they love it XD...the conductor just gives timeing to the musicans. i think...correct me if im wrong.

  • that's correct.

  • AWSOME

  • cool! this is based on the FFX chocobo theme isn't it?

  • Hell yeah!

  • Omg the trumpet with the mute is so awesome.

  • hey its u

  • cool

  • Damn it, STOP CLAPPING. NONE OF YOU ARE GOOD AT IT.

  • So cool! Haha, wish i could have seen it live. It was probably 100 times cooler than on my little computer screen.

  • lovelyy!!

hope someday i could or play in one of these orchestras....or listen and enjoy one of these conce4rts!!!

  • true, I guess I've been focusing more on the smaller ensembles, and the dynamic there. Still, I think there are some really talented large groups that could perform without conduction... though it'd probably be a good thing to have a good conductor!

  • Keep in mind that the audience is about 95% gamers :p So it's not like it's a normal classical theater going crowd.

  • but then again, 95% of Japan is gamers...XD

  • you should forbid clapping in concert halls. arr...

  • Agreed.

  • I second that. Their clapping is completely out of time...

  • The audience is clapping on the beat. The reason why it sounds off beat is because concert halls are big, and sound takes longer to get places. The people in the audience who are clapping are in different places, so the sound is not only getting to them at gradually later times, but the recording probably happened at the front of the stage, so their clapping takes an equally long time to get back to the front of the hall. Even if they were clapping with the conductor, it would still sound late.

  • funny thing is that they ALL WERE OFF BEAT ON CLAPPING.

    wtf?!

    and yes, Chocobo theme ftw

    clapping Fail.

  • They're clapping the off-beat, that's why it sounds odd.

  • the musicians must be having a hard time.. at that time..

  • nope, musicians are trained to focus on three things only, the conductor (if they're even doing anything... a good orchestra can play without one), the sheet music (if not memorized), and most importantly, the rest of the group to get pitch, tempo, and other playing cues.

  • And hot little up front groupies

  • Were they playing to the deaf? That clapping is so retarded.

  • the clapping is soooo annoyyyingggg!!! i would be mad if i was there lol i wouldnt be able to concentrate on playing the music if people were clapping off beat the whole time

  • lol yeah the beat is way off but the composer seems to be enjoying it. lol

  • I listened for 4 minutes before glancing down to read the comments, seeing yours, noticing the clapping, and immidiatly getting very pissed off with the next 45 seconds of video.

    Ugh, so irritating.

  • look at one of the more recent comments.. its explains about concert halls and al that... they WERE clapping offbeat but because of the size the sound didnt get there at the same time.. anyways i would be so happy if people were to clap during the time that id be playing cause then i would know they like the song im playing! :)

  • the clapping is annoying

  • It's the FF10 Chocobo Theme. Fail.

  • Is the clapping off beat? Or is that just me?

  • its off beat

  • Classic song with good memories-for myself too :D

  • Good times.. Good times..

  • chocobo ruleeeeeeeeeez!

  • Go go chocobos:D

  • I love videogamemusic orchestras. Too bad that there are no concerts like this in Germany. Would love it to see the play of great titles from Final Fantasy. I love Chocobos! They are so cute! X3 Thanks for the video!^^

  • Actually, there is a game concert every year at the Leipzig Games Convention. I was there once (2004), one of the guests was Uematsu.

  • my last comment was an answer to MarcMarioMaster, just didn't show up this way. oO

btw, i like the music, but not the clapping in this video... (why are they clapping anyway...?)

  • haha.. they're clapping 'cause they were enjoying it. you know.. just to make it fun and lively..

  • the clapping is awesome! peeps are kind of cheering for chocobos!!! :D these fluffy yellow FF birds are famous!

  • normally are the claps to an rithm in the bras de chocobo, but only for a while, the people are going nuts, and they keep on claping the whole song!

  • the clapping kinda ruins it...

This was a freaking awesome orchestra.

  • For anyone who feels rythm, yeah :(

Great performance anyway, except for the trumpets in the beginning: way too laid back...

  • ohh, ffx theme

  • OMG I must have it on my cellphone.

  • I do! well the other version..the kiddy one

  • Don't blame the crowd... It's a big hall. Sound takes time to travel...

  • Just a good thing the orchestra is paying attention to the conductor and not the audience.

  • The clapping was ALWAYS just....a split-second off.

  • omg.

    the claping

  • damn this crowd had no rhythm!

    listen to that clapping!

I hate when audiences do that

  • Brass de Chocobo rules, Its on the FFX Soundtrack

  • It's called Brass De Chocobo.

  • Chocobo Jazz

  • Maybe it's because when people clap the sound waves take too long to catch up with the audience. I'm in marching band and whenever the crowd claps, it's hard to keep time because the sound waves are too slow.

  • yup ur right

  • yup ur right

  • Kweeeeh!

One Question: What´s the name of the Orchestra????

  • eminence orchestra,(I believe)

  • mhh i dont know it realy..but i think its : Tour de Japon.

Its a result of a search by myself

there needs to be a Chocobo equivalent to Caturday, I think...

  • everything is great except the stupid clapping

  • Oh, come off it! Surely you can't say that you take this peice of music SERIOUSLY!? Surely you can't say that you're not guilty of taking just a brief moment whilst playing the game to fetch a drink whilst the music is running, then boogied your way back to your seat?

    ...just me on that one?

    Oh...okay...

    lol

  • thank god i m not alone LOL

  • I Agree that clap is ruining the song! haha

  • awesome. kweh...heh heh

  • That crowd sucked major balls!

  • 5 stars....KWEH...WARK!!!

  • 5 stars....KWEH!!!

  • its because sound travels slower than light so like yeah, thats why the clapping is way off, in the audience , they think they are clapping on the on beat but yeah...still i really liked this

  • isn't they supposed to follow the music instead of the light as you said???

But i doubt they are following the light anyway..

    *laughz* XD

  • wow this audience sucks!XD but music is good

  • the music is good but the clapping...
