They are the best because of how sold-out they are to Christ, and they ask for His blessing in all they do. Read the books "Walk On" or "Get Up Off Your Knees". Good stuff.

@AgentCROCODILE : Sorry I'm so late to the party here, but I agree with you. I consider myself a recovering Catholic, now agnostic/borderline-atheist, and this band makes me believe in something bigger than ourselves. Yeah, it sounds cheesy, I know. But I'm never happier than when I'm at a U2 show. Call it spiritual, call it church, whatever, but no other live band I've ever encountered in my 40 years on this planet wields that kind of power. That's gotta mean something, you know?
