I can give you example of many short viruses ranging from 7 kb to 240 kb. Wake the fuck up, there is no OS with -no- viruses. I have had windows along with Linux and use windows only the past 7 years. I only got 3 virus warnings in that time and didn't get a SINGLE virus that actually threatened my computer at all.

This seems like it would be far more useful if they had spend a few bucks for 512mb of USB flash memory on the motherboard or 1gb, and put express gate on that instead of on your harddrive. A 2gb usb drive is only $9, so at most it could of cost them maybe another $4 or less if it were surface mounted on the mobo. And then computer would work even with no HD or if HD failed.
i'm using expressgate right now on my new Asus, its pretty badass. I discovered it by accident. It has its own dedicated power button. It really does boot up extremely fast. pretty leet!
Can you print from Express Gate? Does it recognize printers? For example, I'm late going somewhere, and realize I don't have directions to get there. 10 Seconds later, I'm looking at Google Maps. Can I print the directions? Or do I have to write it down?
I know, I finally figured out that it actually had to be installed onto the hard drive; I was under the assumption that it was a flash memory chip located on the motherboard that held the Linux-Bases OS. It is a hassle, and Isn't worth installing.

I just installed my first P5Q Motherboard this morning and after I setup the LAN Port it connected to the ASUS Express Gate after the reboot. It really is an amazing feature.
P5Q ~ Q6600 ~ 8GB Ballistix ~ Radeon X1950 Pro ~ 10,324 on 3DMark05. Cheap and quick setup.
My XP boots for about a minute (maybe it's two, I forgot) and it's sluggish. I'm reinstalling it, hoping it will get better. I was getting used to it, but then I booted Linux after a long time and seen how fast it should go. Linux boots in 20 seconds for me btw.
just get 6 SSD in raid 0 and you don't need that linux crap. with the 6 drives you can boot vista in 10 seconds. just 5 more seconds you need to wait! and you get a full OS

I disagree with you. Sure, Vista was crap, but what you're doing is labeling a company based on previous failures. Take Windows Mojave experiment, for example. It was just Vista, but they made people think it wasn't, and people actually liked it.
The "people" you refer to were people who had never used vista, and they were shown an OS on a custom built computer that was demonstrated by a salesman, so they were unable to try out the software themselves.
The main problem with vista sales is that the things vista adds that XP dosnt have isnt worth the cost in performance. Why buy more ram just to break even with what you had?
well ur not exactly "paying" for it. Its a feature on the mobo and sure I guess that MAY increase the price slightly, but the motherboard I purchased the ASUS M4A79 Deluxe is actually one of the best mobos out there and having this extra feature actually seems quite nice if my OS were to crash and I was trying to look up a blue screen error etc..
it comes with all new new asus mobo i have mine disabled... learn more about asus they have kick ass motherboard features although you may never use them hey its nice to have them then don't...
you go into the bios and there is a section i forgot the name that lets you enable or disable express gate.... i had to disable several things on my pq5 pro like the cpu fan which drived me crazy because i used a zalman 9500 and it was plugged in another adapter but it would say it doesnt recognize a cpu fan and make annoying beeps in the beginning...
My pc with win7 and intel ssd boot up for ~15 secs. And i think 10 secs (5 for ex.gate) - nothing, even if i'm late

that's a silly question...
anyway, everything in computer has always been related to time saving , aside from that, it is also energy saving. no need to boot up your entire system only to check emails. Or you just want to put some music on, you don't need to have everything up and running wasting electricity. If that doesn't make sense to you... i don't know....

Anyone who doesn't understand why this is a great feature probably pays to have their computer fixed when there is a problem with their operating system. As countless individuals have pointed out this feature comes in handy when your operating system is unstable and you need to access the internet to find a solution to your problem.

More PC problems are caused by turning off/on your PC than anything else. case in point: a Hard Drive's lifespan is measured in starts and stops i.e how many times you turn it on and turn it off. I have only turned my PC off maybe 10 times in the 5 years I've owned it and its still running strong. Please stop misinforming people when you have no clue.

I just installed my first P5Q Motherboard this morning and after I setup the LAN Port it connected to the ASUS Express Gate after the reboot. It really is an amazing feature.
P5Q ~ Q6600 ~ 8GB Ballistix ~ Radeon X1950 Pro ~ 10,324 on 3DMark05. Cheap and quick setup.

My XP boots for about a minute (maybe it's two, I forgot) and it's sluggish. I'm reinstalling it, hoping it will get better. I was getting used to it, but then I booted Linux after a long time and seen how fast it should go. Linux boots in 20 seconds for me btw.

just get 6 SSD in raid 0 and you don't need that linux crap. with the 6 drives you can boot vista in 10 seconds. just 5 more seconds you need to wait! and you get a full OS

Should I believe you? Lots of people are hoping for better Windows, so they make themselves believe 7 is better. It's completely normal and expected behavior. But why would M$ make better Windows? People would buy it anyway, even if it's worse. Look at vista. Tho not all people want to buy vista, but it would still be cheaper for M$ to just restyle Windows and sell again, than make all ppl buy it. I've got pretty bad experiences with Windows, it always goes bad after time. That's the worst prob.

My Windows 7 Beta is running 100% flawless. No issues, or anything. But my 2 older Vista pc's were pissing me off, with lots of issues. - Vista was great, Vienna is better.

I disagree with you. Sure, Vista was crap, but what you're doing is labeling a company based on previous failures. Take Windows Mojave experiment, for example. It was just Vista, but they made people think it wasn't, and people actually liked it.

The "people" you refer to were people who had never used vista, and they were shown an OS on a custom built computer that was demonstrated by a salesman, so they were unable to try out the software themselves.
The main problem with vista sales is that the things vista adds that XP dosnt have isnt worth the cost in performance. Why buy more ram just to break even with what you had?

Microsoft wanted to make their operating system more user friendly, so they took out the pesky "up" button to help you navigate through folders.
Now they say you can make a shortcut in every folder on your harddrive that points to the folder 1 level up if you need that functionality.

well ur not exactly "paying" for it. Its a feature on the mobo and sure I guess that MAY increase the price slightly, but the motherboard I purchased the ASUS M4A79 Deluxe is actually one of the best mobos out there and having this extra feature actually seems quite nice if my OS were to crash and I was trying to look up a blue screen error etc..

you go into the bios and there is a section i forgot the name that lets you enable or disable express gate.... i had to disable several things on my pq5 pro like the cpu fan which drived me crazy because i used a zalman 9500 and it was plugged in another adapter but it would say it doesnt recognize a cpu fan and make annoying beeps in the beginning...
