  • As far as PROTECTION goes Like GTVAlphaMan states. Say a meteor hits the planet and Wipes out all but 10% of my towns population that is still going to leave about 40K people wandering around looking for food. You have enough Guns and ammo for all of them?Lay low conserve your resources and use them sparingly and WISELY Starting a Generator so you can have some lights on at night is plain RETARDED leaving outward signs that you have food, water, fuel is asking to be killed for the same said items!

  • Its 3 months after the (insert disaster here) you decide to turn on your generator and cook some bacon an eggs you stashed as part of your end of the world preps. Not only do your starving neighbors smell the exhaust from your generator. Not only do they hear the generator BUT they smell the food your cooking.GOOD luck with the coming fight! Hope your preps included lots of weapons and ammo. All I'm saying is maybe advertising the fact that you have good resources during SHTF isn't SMART.

  • Thank you for posting this information. I own a hybrid and an SUV and drive them frequently. Lately I've been driving the hybrid more often due to high gas prices. I've never seen them go up this fast. Today I decided to buy a couple gas cans and have my own back up at home. Even if I drive the fuel efficient hybrid, it would be useless in case case of a gas shortage. Also I've hear that most likely gas will be over $5 per gallon this summer... not good

  • Gas does lose some octane but does not really go bad per say. I work as a mechanic and get in vehicles all the time that have been sitting for years and years and have got every one of them running on the old gas that was in the tank it may run a little bad at first but in a shtf situation who cares.

  • how do u keep the gas from going stale?

Stale gas is useless... unless you have a really OLD diesel engine... it'll run stale gas...

  • @staticincanmore If you watch the video it tells you how I keep it good.

  • Did you treat the gas in your boat tank? Treated gas lasts up a year. I wonder if it is the same for treated gas in a boat tank. Stabil makes that ethanol fuel stabalizer as well now. I bet 100% gas with zero ethanol would last much longer. No ethanol gas is sometimes hard to find.

  • i heard that you can not store gas more then about 2 years, does anybody know if thats true or not?

  • @frips1000

You can purchase fuel stabilizers to prevent your gasoline from going stale. Stabil, Pri-G and STP fuel and oil treatment. They are all good, however I hear STP fuel and oil treatment is best at stabilizing your fuel for long term storage.

  • @frips1000

Properly treated fuel will last two years maximum if you use Stabil, Pri-G or STP fuel and oil treatment. I would recommend rotating it out just short of two years.

  • Good Video. Stablize is gd stuff & cheap at walmart. PRI-G is better & goes a lot farther but you have to order it or find a store that carrys it.

Those containers are cheapest if you get them off Craigslist. I bought a bunch $10-$20 ea. Try to make sure they are not rusted inside, Also instead of storing empty add a little waste oil or trany oil or something. Prevents or at least chance of reduces rust. Here's a tip for cheap octane boost. xylene, its in your paint thinner isle.

  • Hey where can we buy cheep but good gas tanks?

  • @galapinn Wal mart sells 5 gallon containers for about $10.

  • Temp really affects the gasoline as well. I store mine in a non heated garage and keep the jugs on the concrete to keep them cool. High temp is the big killer of fuel quality. I read that gas trated with STA-BIL and stored properly can last nearly 2 years. Never tried that concept as I rotate mine as well.

    Cheers

  • could you please tell me where you got those containers?

  • can u please make a video on water and how you will get it when shtf

  • Always on a boat, use a gas filter and an in-line water separator.. Should help with boat gas storage.

  • were you get your jerry cans?? those are legit military grade not the immatation ones

  • had a car that sat up for almost 10 years and it started without much effort with the gas that was left in the tank.

  • Do you prep bullet casting tools I just started prepping and I've been trying to get a well rounded stock pile any advise ? Thanks for all your time and effort making videos they may save a ass or 2 maybe my own

  • northwestprepper, im sure you are aware that gasoline doesnt keep for more than a year even with additives. have you considered diesel? if you put additives in diesel you can keep it stored for eight years or better. just a thought, if you invest in diesel power everything you will also gain fuel mileage with your car or truck and reliability as well. a diesel engine will run for a long time, the average for a 4cyl diesel is 500,000 miles. just a idea buddy, have a good one and stay cool.

  • @greatwhitejake the best on the market is PRI - G which can not only stabalize gas for over a decade if stored right, but will restore even the most degraded fuels to a refinery-fresh condition. stabil or anything like it is useless for SHTF / WROL

  • That's awesome I wish that were legal in my state

  • Where did you get the storage containers ? Army / Navy supply or ?

  • Great topic. Thanks for the video.

  • Dude running a generator in an urban emergency situation is a REALLY BAD IDEA.Its loud so you will be telling everyone who can hear your Generator "I've got gas,I've got resources" "Come take my stuff". In a rual situation a generator might be ok depending on the surrounding population, but in a city that would be a death sentence>

  • @gijoekfg1969 I find it quite funny that people on here actually think they know everything. You have no idea where my generator is located. You also have no idea what my situation is. To make a bold statement like that before even knowing anything is presumptuous on your part. I guess if something happens and I die then you can say I told you so but until then................

  • @northwestprepper

I agree. My generator is a Honda EX5500 super quiet model. It's fully enclosed and sound suppressed from the factory. I have located it on my property with discretion. No one will know. Lights won't be blazing an invitation to desperados either.....

  • @gijoekfg1969

The other thing is, I work 12-15 hours a day. Do you store at work or at home? I'm not far from home (30 mins max) BUT if the SHTF, how will i get to my fuel/gas store? Just a question.

  • @gijoekfg1969 it's not too hard to put a genny in your basement/underground hole/etc and run exhaust lines outside, that would deal with noise. just think about solutions to the possible problems you're likely to face and you don't have to be scared, just aware & prepared. keep safe!

  • @gijoekfg1969 What a ridiculous statement. What are you supposed to do, stay indoors in the dark and hide? The generator was purchased to help his family through a SHTF situation. If he has enough sense to store gasoline and purchase a generator I think he is also smart enough to have some form of protection for his home.

  • do you mind if i ask what you do for a leaving?

  • @MonkeyKing2378 Leaving?

  • @northwestprepper my apologies, typing on iphone, i meant living, job

  • @MonkeyKing2378 I am very lucky to live in America where I can own a few companies and make a living doing what I love to do.

  • becareful the steel cans can rust over time and ruin the gas

  • @M77HUNTER95 As long as you rotate and don't slam them around you should have no problems at all..

  • good info thanks for sharing

  • @awomansworld123 Welcome! Cheers!

  • Ya I can relate about the lack of condo storage space. I only store 10 gallons here at my condo. There isn't any storage locker except for the laundry closet on the back porch.

Oh well, at least my condo is paid off, that leaves me a lot of extra money to buy silver and other preps with.

  • @vention4wh Nice...

  • I am looking into gas storage as well. What do you think of the style of cans? What is your favorite? I really wish we could get the old Scepter Nato Cans.

  • @TacticalCWAT I love the military cans..

  • Are those jerry cans plastic and where did you buy them?

  • @TangoUniform257 They are metal. The brown ones use to be red until I painted them. I bought those at amazon a long time ago when they were on sale.

  • @TangoUniform257 Thanks for the reply, I need to buy me a dozen of those cans.

  • thats a shit ton of gas!!!

  • @kikasskruger Not really...

  • Thanks brother!!!

  • @brooklynprepper Glad you are ok...

  • Sorry, pulled the trigger a little too fast

  • Also - do you use Sta-Bil fuel preservative?

  • Great video about gas storage. Have you seen The roadwarrier's video on the siphon? It is on my fave list. - refueling on the run

  • @westtexasprepper Just did.. Thanks.. I have a shaker hose..

  • My darlin would NEVER let me keep that much gas at our house!! LOL!

  • always like finding another like minded prepper. Subbed and great video.

  • @CyberVatic Thanks you.. Cheers!

  • you eduacated me i didnt know that gas go's bad thanks and nice video

  • @timekiller7471 Glad you found it helpful.

  • Good Video, Thumbs Up.

I like it when you educate us while showing off your goodies :)

  • @EmpathyWorks I don't know about educating. Just showing you what I do..

  • Thats a great resource, where do you get those cans? every search for those comes up kinda pricey. I do plastic and rotate on a 60 day cycle and till now have had no problems, its very clear whan i siphon (shaker hose), thanks for the vid and info.

  • @PopPrepper Which ones?

  • @northwestprepper Either ones, tan or green, are they plastic or metal. I was thinking they were metal and they are hard to find where I live, so was wondering where you got them and what you paid.

  • i would be mindful that temp changes from night to day and the seasons will reduce the shelf life of many chemicals. i feel gasoline is included with that. becuse you rotate farly often it should not be a problem. also lower octanes keep better.

  • That's a ton of gas!

  • @HedgehogOutdoors Not really if you think about it. Better to be safe than sorry.. The key is rotate..

  • @northwestprepper That's what I would do with anything, definitely worth having a ton of extra gas!

  • there have been engines made that only run on the fumes, and they say that they can get almost 100 mpg, what octane do you buy, and from what company
