You have to keep in mind that you need to change quite a bit to adapt boxing to mma. Your stance must change dramatically to aviod takedowns and leg kicks so if freddie roach is looking at an mma fighter for pure boxing skill then they probly wont match up. The fighters I mentioned are def not the best strikers but they are good. damn good. Condit said himself that he fought the way he did cuz that was the only way to beat Diaz (in his opinion). Your last comment(machida) doesnt make much sense
Yea I know that but that doesn't mean he has good boxing. Wearing out opponents and taking over with your cardio doesn't make you some great boxer. Machida puzzle was a mystery, no one knew how to approach it. Once they found out, machida hasn't been that dominant.
I like Diaz, and it was a very close match. I could see how it would have gone either way... if Condit lost we'd still be talking about a rematch. That's the problem with the Greg Jackson form of fighting... it always leaves so many questions.
We need more coaches that embrace just bleed fighting, screw technique. Brawl is the way to go, better yet why pay 50$ for a ppv when I can just watch a bar fight.

Diaz fans shouldn't worry too much. He's still among the best. He was beaten but by someone who is also among the best. It won't take long for him to get back into the title picture at all. In the meantime, this is a great chance to see him bust up Koz or Kampmann or Ellenberger or Hendricks or Alves or even a Sanchez rematch. Shiet, he can send Matt Hughes to retirement as well since he did the same with Penn.

@brasher01, I'd love to see yellow cards in the UFC but given the state of our officials....only McCarthy, Dean or Rosenthal are capable of using them. I'd never trust Mazzagotti or Yamasaki with such potential risk to ruin the fight. I don't like that undead bigbird chic either.
boring fights are the chaotic bar room brawls which last 10s, with no strategy or plan, just 2 drunk idiots swinging with no technique and one wins by random shot landing.

Boxing is a sport of skill. You need to throw jabs 100,000 times to make it as crisp as these guys do. BJJ is a sport of knowledge. You need to know how to react in certain situations to make sure you don't end up in a worse situation. Diaz has both. Diaz is capable of being smart but he wasn't raised to be a book worm. Diaz is smart. It shows from his BJJ.
NICK is actually be a good rolemodel for what an athlete should be-health + fitness! A Raw VEGANS - Diaz bros, Jake Shields, Mac Danzig, Aaron Simpson, Saunders, Fitch (during training), Frank Mir, even Mike Tyson (vegan for years), many natural body builders, olympians, nfl stars (ie: tony gonzalez, rickey williams), drs+dieticians! @MrTwat91 I wouldn't underestimate GSP's jab. A quick jab doesn't have to be unpredictable to work. A lot of boxers ride their jab to the point that their opponent has no doubt it's coming & it still gets the job done. I agree that Koscheck shoulda started shooting like a madman or done something to change the fight... but the technique behind gsp's jab looked good for mma. As I said before though, both the diaz brothers have improved their whole boxing game & I wish this fight was sooner.
@The91Ufc Condit is definitely one of the top welterweights, but I don't think he's on the same level as Diaz. I see Nick winning that one, and then beating GSP. We'll see what happens though. Anyone can be wrong.
The only way you gsp fanboys will be right, is if gsp plays gay and grinds a fight out. I hate koscheck with all my body, all my guts and bones, but when he said GSP is a boring fighter these days in TUF12, i totally agree'd.

Diaz is poet with motion no doubt, but I'd like to see him threaten with takedowns more often... His ground game is some of the best on the planet, not just MMA. People would FEAR that takedown, and that hesitation would open up his boxing even more... His punching power just keeps getting better... If GSP takes him out, he will silence many of the doubters out there
There's a reason Penn retired after losing to Diaz - he completely owned Rd 1 before running out of steam; i.e. he just can't condition himself like he used to. I don't think Diaz wins a slugfest with Koscheck and GSP rearranged his face when they fought. This guy is made for GSP - I don't think he'll even take it to the ground where he'd absolutely OWN Diaz. I think he'll keep it standing and absolutely destroy him. You won't recognise Diaz by Rd 5. GSP goes home with barely a scratch.

boring fights are the chaotic bar room brawls which last 10s, with no strategy or plan, just 2 drunk idiots swinging with no technique and one wins by random shot landing.
Id much rather see a 5 round chess game, battle of styles and ideas. Fighting isnt just about the violence.

Boxing is a sport of skill. You need to throw jabs 100,000 times to make it as crisp as these guys do. BJJ is a sport of knowledge. You need to know how to react in certain situations to make sure you don't end up in a worse situation. Diaz has both. Diaz is capable of being smart but he wasn't raised to be a book worm. Diaz is smart. It shows from his BJJ.

@MrTwat91 I wouldn't underestimate GSP's jab. A quick jab doesn't have to be unpredictable to work. A lot of boxers ride their jab to the point that their opponent has no doubt it's coming & it still gets the job done. I agree that Koscheck shoulda started shooting like a madman or done something to change the fight... but the technique behind gsp's jab looked good for mma. As I said before though, both the diaz brothers have improved their whole boxing game & I wish this fight was sooner.

Diaz is poet with motion no doubt, but I'd like to see him threaten with takedowns more often... His ground game is some of the best on the planet, not just MMA. People would FEAR that takedown, and that hesitation would open up his boxing even more... His punching power just keeps getting better... There's a reason Penn retired after losing to Diaz - he completely owned Rd 1 before running out of steam; i.e. he just can't condition himself like he used to. I don't think Diaz wins a slugfest with Koscheck and GSP rearranged his face when they fought. This guy is made for GSP - I don't think he'll even take it to the ground where he'd absolutely OWN Diaz. I think he'll keep it standing and absolutely destroy him. You won't recognise Diaz by Rd 5. GSP goes home with barely a scratch.
