@PhokingVi you mad bro? sound like your pissed because i can ride a bike faster than your dumb ass acura. I understand that you wanted a cheap car that could go averagely fast after your dump your life savings into it, but theres no place for you to talk while still sitting in the seat of a honda made vehicle. I saw your video of your getting your exhaust too, let me guess 2.5 in piping straight shot leading to a 2 ft canister? thought so
@simonwilliams88 no thats not it, i THINK that what they do is one car start in front, and then the other one sets off like 3 sec later. if the gap increases, the leader wins, if it decreases, the follower wins. then they switch over
i driven in the a dc5 with the k20a and the rx-8. to be honest i feel like the rx8 loses power once you hit the high rev. it feels like it doesnt pull anymore after 7500 as compared to the k20 motor, you can push it all the way to 8500 and it still feels like it has power. both being stock units. its fun driving both cars but i like the feel of the k20 unit.
Personally, I disagree with the idea that raising the compression was a bad call on Mazda's part. I'd like to have seen Mazda switch to propylene glycol waterless coolant and raise the compression to 14:1 like on their Sky engines.
the worse thing mazda did for the renesis was make it such a high compression motor. its not real safe to turbo it on factory seals. dont get me wrong, it can and has been done but takes a ton of tuning. as far as reliability goes, ive had mine since 07 and it has never so much as hiccupped at me. even in -10 degree weather the beast fires right up and runs great. the motor requires serious maintainance though. if you follow the maintanance schedule to the t and check your oil. youre golden.
@emgduncanman Thats very true, but don't forget due to american regulations, the rotary engine had to get tinkered with at the last second, thus forcing it to loose power and cause engine problems that so many people complain about. Because of that, the 8's in japan are much better =/. Had a 8 myself, and planning on another in the future.
@vtecboi18 What a lot of small minded car enthusiast complain about but don't understand is the rx-8's hp. For some of it's competitors such as the honda s2k, nissan 350z, and wrx it lacks some serious hp. But we have to understand that mazda's specialty isn't the hp they put in cars but the handling. Anyone can floor a car for a 1/4 of a mile, but how many can take turns and get a good time? The mazda rx-8 has one of the best handling feels to it out there.
@orochiThing yea i know its more of a track dally driver witch is what i'm looking for cause i'm in the process of getting a 89 supra but i also want something thats more balanced but how much power can u get out of them id be happy with with 300hp that would make a good dd and track car u think?
@vtecboi18 Honestly, you can't have a track car and a dd in one lol, that would be too good. The rx-8 is no where considered a track car if someone didn't have a well paying job. With cars busting about 28mpg (not hybrid) the rx-8 is still around 16.
But if you want around 300 hp with an rx-8 you can try putting in a turbo, or even a twin turbo if you want to start drifting. All this is going to add up in the long run. I want to say you don't need hp to win a track race but i would be lying.
@orochiThing i guess wen i said track car i meant something thats more fast on the track then street cause i'm getting a 89 supra soon i want 600 out of that wen all is said and done,i didn't know u could twin turbo a rx8 hmm ill have to look into that ,yes u need hp on the track for the straights and i guess really just to keep up somewhat lol
@vtecboi18 I'm a mazda crazed kid but even i have to admit that the supra can throw out some crazy hp. But don't forget, as my auto professor once told me, "It's not hp but torque that wins the race." The supra is an amazing car but it has crazy understeer. My mistake, i'm not too sure if theirs a twin turbo for the 8 atm. My final say toward the low hp 8 is that, in order for it to become track ready, you gonna have to put many fat hours and fat bucks into it.
@orochiThing well the supra is one of my dream cars its the mk3 supra not mk4, i want to do a 1jz swap on it cause i don't want crazy torque plus i hear the 1jz is more rev happy then a 2jz plus a 1jz is cheaper, well i still would like a rx 8 though i use to want a fc3s rx7 but i hear the rx8 is more reliable and gets better mpg is that true?
@vtecboi18 The rx-8 isn't a car your gonna be beating people with in terms of hp but your own driving ability to follow a neat line. I can't same the same for supra, that things a BEAST!!
@orochiThing It has a great weight distribution of back and front mainly because of it's 1.3 litre rotary engine. But because of the rotary engine, this car must be treated differently from any other cars. This may include allowing the engine to warm up before you go, not to turn on the car and turn off for no reason, and constant oil changes and checks. Overall, the car for it's price is awesome, but the lack of maintenance many put into it is what kills it on the long run.
@sprez420 DC5 is the chassis number for the Rsx or JDM Integra check your Vin number it should say somewhere in there DC5 and the motor in your car if it is the original is a K20Z1 it has better cams and intake manifold than the other rsx's form 03 - 04 and is closes to the JDM Integra Type R but still good i have an 05 which is pretty much the same as yours
@sprez420 all three models are k-series engines. Base model has k20a, type s has now upgraded k20z1 and the type r has the k24. base=160 hp, type s=200-210 depending on what year, type r=220 hp. And before anyone asks no the type r is not available in the US though u can get the engine for a swap. Also DC5 production ceased in 2007, was replaced by the Civic Si.
@bacardi198 whoa sorry me wikipedia, i was doing it off the top of my head asshole honest mistake, sorry it wasn't exact specs and it doesn't matter because I've actually driven the r.
u know what it is after driving all the cars personally i felt that when u drive the type r u become one with the car and u can push it to its limit and then u realize it can go even more only if u believe it can... its a special one that DC5 let me tell you one of the best cars ive driven that honda has made!!
In response to statements about rx8 handling. The RX8 at its limits sticks to the ground regardless of body roll and not many cars can do such. Well built car and as for power, well, there are plenty of things that one could improve on but I love it.

Its a jdm dc5 with a k20 not a us k20a,
Stock they come with 220bph, you can be sure that its not stock either, and for the person saying they have 260 on their dc5 with onlt 2000 spent, stop talking shit!!!
wtf? That RX-8 driver must suck cuz doesn't the j-spec RX-8 get 250bhp? And the RSX Type-S(Integra Type-R) get 200bhp? I've seen RX-8s keep up with 911s in SCCA and in some random jap vids where they were racing an RX-8 against an M3, M5, 350Z and S2000 and it was able to keep up.
an "rsx type s" is not an integra type R, it has 220bhp stock and with a simple straight thru exhaust system, and other slight mods can get it up to 260bhp too. mine has 260bhp and only about 2000euro spent on modding it...
I'm pretty sure the American integra type s is the same as the j-spec but you Eurofags always get the good shit. Like the European Fords are way better than the piece of Shits we get in America.

a base model RX-8 will rape a base model RX-7 because the the 7's naturally aspirated power isn't anywhere near the 8's. But when MAZDASPEED releases the supercharged 8 it will rape the twin turboed 7.
factory seals can handle 10psi with little where and tear. I few people are running around 16 which puts the car to about 416 rwhp not sure what the torque is but I'm going to guess about 320's
Are you sure? The RX-8 is lighter than the 3rd gen RX-7 (the '93 RX-7 is the 3rd gen right?) and its naturally aspirated engine is nearly as powerful as the 7's twin-turbo engine.
You're clueless about the "rx" cars. Do you really own one?
A stock FC has only 160hp. A turbo version has 200. RX8 generates 238 and only weighs 100lb more. Given the hp/lbs adv. of the 8, it will smoke any FCs., as well as out-handle.
I know what I'm talking about, for one, why would this guy even bother trying to compete an RX8 with an NA FC? That's just ridiculous. Yes, given we're talking about stock vs stock cars (obviously, my fault for not noticing he was comparing base models, but isn't that obvious?), no shit an RX8 will smoke it. Although I strongly disagree an RX8 will "rape" a TII with equally skilled drivers, in a fair autocross run.
Do you have reading comprehension issue? Take it from a guy who is a rotary car proponent and used to own FB, FC and turbo FD. Out of them all, RX8 is the most balance, neutral handing car.
A turbo FC has 200hp. Weight to HP ratio, RX8 has advantage. Whether 0 - 60 time, or 1/4 mile time, the 8 is almost 1/2 sec faster. In auto racing, 1/2 sec is a world of difference. All things considered, with equal drivers a stock RX8 will "smoke" a turbo FC any day.
Yes, good sir, hello. I am not disagreeing that a stock RX8 will beat a TII. I was talking about track modded RX8's and FC's. And yes, I wholeheartedly agree that 1/2 is a tremendous difference, but no where near "rape" status. Let's keep the discussion civil and mannered before throwing out insults.
And as an FC and RX8 owner, I'm a little biased to saying the FC is the best bang for the buck for a track car.
depends.. if u r gonna strip for pure track, i suppose.
But i like my 8.. street and trackable hehe =)
just a few mod on the engine and kept it n/a..
other than that, just coilovers and 275's on all 4, good enuf on the track. Pushing only 260hp at most id say, and thats not to the wheel, lol. Fun tho =)
I think the 89 FC would beat the 8 in some corners and the 8 would beat the FC in others. Be serious here, the Rx8 lacks torque. 160 pounds somewhere near 5 - 6k rpm. Where the FC turbo had like 200 pounds at 3 to 4k rpm. In tight hairpin turns, the FC would leave the 8 behind, where in the high speed turns the 8 would walk away from the FC. Because of the gear ratios and the turbo the FC rev'd quickly to its redline unlike the 8.
Yes, some tight corners, in which case an NA Miata will hand RX8's arse. It depends on the tightness of the track. Having owned a Turbo FC, you;'ll be amazed at how great 8 handles at its limit. Take a look at TopGear's review of the 8. Yes, take it w/ a grain of salt. Clarkson did emphasize 8 handling which is beyond most sport cars today, let alone FC. If you are capable of staying within the 8's power-band, ~5-9k rpm, it's a bonus. This is where it takes skills, heel/toe, rev-matching.
actually it is possible. i saw a best motoring type video with a new('08?) jdm civic type r sedan (close to stock) vs. a lightly modded s2k on the track. and to my surprise the s2k was much more than touched, it got spanked.
interesting race, i love the rx-8 and the ITR both very nice cars. however, i think mazda lost its touch with the rx-8 it's nowhere near as raw as its predecesor the rx-7, both FD and the FC. It just seems like a sports sedan rather than a true sports car (im sure ill get bashed for that). im suprised how well the dc5 held its ground in the first race. but it would've been more interesting if the s2000 was included.
Bone stock the rx8 is great compared to an fd. Tested around the mazda track both cars got the same time. And for a car with 50 less bhp than the fd thats an achievement. If the renesis could be developed so it could be turbo's nicely it would wee all over a normal 13b. The non turbo fc's have 90 bhp power for an engine with the same displacement. The renesis just has a way to come to step up to the fd
i used to have a rx8 car was nothing like a rx7 to much bs electric crap on the inside. it is a fun car but not worth the money to upgrade for track use.
THIS IS TOUGE RACING , THIS IS WHEN A CAR STARTS FIRST AND THE CAR BEHIND HAS TO ALWAYS CATCH UP , if it DOESNT CATCH UP HE WINS, the RACE KEEPS GOING ON SWITCHING SIDES
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This race shows nothing!!! There is no room to pass on the road. Both cars are letting off for what ever car is in front. The first race the dc5 won because he started in front and the second same for the rx-8. I want to see the same cars on a circuit that will show the fastest car. I believe the s2000 was only there for the camera view not actually racing.
come on man... the only reason the Integra won the first race is because he started out way ahead, look at the lead the RX-8 gets when it has the opportunity in the second race... the S2000 is a great car I can't argue against that, but the RX-8 is a monster on corners, it handles like you wouldn't believe... mine amazed me the first time I had it on a mountain road (only time I've ever made myself car sick)
well, if you have the time, money, and knowledge, you can build any car to be anything. you can get a drifting hummer if you want. it just wont be worth the effort...
civictyper2007 is a flaming homo sexual who has no taste in cars. Honda fan boys are gay. I mean I'm not gonna lie and say there are no fast hondas. But you've got to appreiciate other fast cars as well.

an "rsx type s" is not an integra type R, it has 220bhp stock and with a simple straight thru exhaust system, and other slight mods can get it up to 260bhp too. mine has 260bhp and only about 2000euro spent on modding it...
duhdon 3 years ago
I'm pretty sure the American integra type s is the same as the j-spec but you Eurofags always get the good shit. Like the European Fords are way better than the piece of Shits we get in America.

let it rain and then see how the RX8 does..

I wish there was a RX7 vs. Rx8 togue. The son vs. the dad. That would be epic.
justcallmebad 3 years ago 2
RX-7 would dominate, its sooo much better on the track than the new RX-8

Yeah I think Mazda fucked up wen they made it.

a base model RX-8 will rape a base model RX-7 because the the 7's naturally aspirated power isn't anywhere near the 8's. But when MAZDASPEED releases the supercharged 8 it will rape the twin turboed 7.
Shitoryumaster 3 years ago
why would they apply forced induction 2 an already high comp RX8? Unless its low power. Any word on how much boost it might get?
justcallmebad 3 years ago
factory seals can handle 10psi with little where and tear. I few people are running around 16 which puts the car to about 416 rwhp not sure what the torque is but I'm going to guess about 320's
cpf6939 3 years ago
Idk because they're experimenting with superchargers on the new rotary engine that's not even in production yet.

No it will not. I've been driving second generation RX-7's for years and I will tell you. No it will not. FD>FC>SE3P
hundredprizm 3 years ago
Are you sure? The RX-8 is lighter than the 3rd gen RX-7 (the '93 RX-7 is the 3rd gen right?) and its naturally aspirated engine is nearly as powerful as the 7's twin-turbo engine.
Shitoryumaster 3 years ago
You're clueless about the "rx" cars. Do you really own one?
A stock FC has only 160hp. A turbo version has 200. RX8 generates 238 and only weighs 100lb more. Given the hp/lbs adv. of the 8, it will smoke any FCs., as well as out-handle.
bjjvancouver 3 years ago
I know what I'm talking about, for one, why would this guy even bother trying to compete an RX8 with an NA FC? That's just ridiculous. Yes, given we're talking about stock vs stock cars (obviously, my fault for not noticing he was comparing base models, but isn't that obvious?), no shit an RX8 will smoke it. Although I strongly disagree an RX8 will "rape" a TII with equally skilled drivers, in a fair autocross run.
hundredprizm 3 years ago
Do you have reading comprehension issue? Take it from a guy who is a rotary car proponent and used to own FB, FC and turbo FD. Out of them all, RX8 is the most balance, neutral handing car.
A turbo FC has 200hp. Weight to HP ratio, RX8 has advantage. Whether 0 - 60 time, or 1/4 mile time, the 8 is almost 1/2 sec faster. In auto racing, 1/2 sec is a world of difference. All things considered, with equal drivers a stock RX8 will "smoke" a turbo FC any day.
bjjvancouver 3 years ago 2
Yes, good sir, hello. I am not disagreeing that a stock RX8 will beat a TII. I was talking about track modded RX8's and FC's. And yes, I wholeheartedly agree that 1/2 is a tremendous difference, but no where near "rape" status. Let's keep the discussion civil and mannered before throwing out insults.
And as an FC and RX8 owner, I'm a little biased to saying the FC is the best bang for the buck for a track car.
hundredprizm 3 years ago
depends.. if u r gonna strip for pure track, i suppose.
But i like my 8.. street and trackable hehe =)
just a few mod on the engine and kept it n/a..
other than that, just coilovers and 275's on all 4, good enuf on the track. Pushing only 260hp at most id say, and thats not to the wheel, lol. Fun tho =)
archiei40 2 years ago
I think the 89 FC would beat the 8 in some corners and the 8 would beat the FC in others. Be serious here, the Rx8 lacks torque. 160 pounds somewhere near 5 - 6k rpm. Where the FC turbo had like 200 pounds at 3 to 4k rpm. In tight hairpin turns, the FC would leave the 8 behind, where in the high speed turns the 8 would walk away from the FC. Because of the gear ratios and the turbo the FC rev'd quickly to its redline unlike the 8.
SMGslimg00dy 2 years ago
Yes, some tight corners, in which case an NA Miata will hand RX8's arse. It depends on the tightness of the track. Having owned a Turbo FC, you;'ll be amazed at how great 8 handles at its limit. Take a look at TopGear's review of the 8. Yes, take it w/ a grain of salt. Clarkson did emphasize 8 handling which is beyond most sport cars today, let alone FC. If you are capable of staying within the 8's power-band, ~5-9k rpm, it's a bonus. This is where it takes skills, heel/toe, rev-matching.
bjjvancouver 2 years ago
yeahh but only 181 of the 238 makes it to the ground... The RX8 has one of the worst power train transfers if not the worst.

yeah dc5 for looks but performance how can u touch a s2000 in a fwd car. i love it don't get me wrong but it ain't possible.
tophermonkey 3 years ago
Thats why they used a S2000 for camera.
OhNoPaypal 3 years ago 3
actually it is possible. i saw a best motoring type video with a new('08?) jdm civic type r sedan (close to stock) vs. a lightly modded s2k on the track. and to my surprise the s2k was much more than touched, it got spanked.
Domino720 3 years ago
the s2000 is nicer than them both lol.

DC5 much better than S2000

u definetly know about cars! all inline 4 cylinders, but a fwd doesnt need to stop accelerating for a turn! So the rsx would definelty be better!

interesting race, i love the rx-8 and the ITR both very nice cars. however, i think mazda lost its touch with the rx-8 it's nowhere near as raw as its predecesor the rx-7, both FD and the FC. It just seems like a sports sedan rather than a true sports car (im sure ill get bashed for that). im suprised how well the dc5 held its ground in the first race. but it would've been more interesting if the s2000 was included.
shiftN 3 years ago
Bone stock the rx8 is great compared to an fd. Tested around the mazda track both cars got the same time. And for a car with 50 less bhp than the fd thats an achievement. If the renesis could be developed so it could be turbo's nicely it would wee all over a normal 13b. The non turbo fc's have 90 bhp power for an engine with the same displacement. The renesis just has a way to come to step up to the fd

i used to have a rx8 car was nothing like a rx7 to much bs electric crap on the inside. it is a fun car but not worth the money to upgrade for track use.

Agree for track use older car like 7 have advantage on lightness + turbo.

This race shows nothing!!! There is no room to pass on the road. Both cars are letting off for what ever car is in front. The first race the dc5 won because he started in front and the second same for the rx-8. I want to see the same cars on a circuit that will show the fastest car. I believe the s2000 was only there for the camera view not actually racing.

ok both cars win one but pretty sure s2000 wud of won if he was trying providing rx8 aint turbo one
smokeydogsmokey 4 years ago
come on man... the only reason the Integra won the first race is because he started out way ahead, look at the lead the RX-8 gets when it has the opportunity in the second race... the S2000 is a great car I can't argue against that, but the RX-8 is a monster on corners, it handles like you wouldn't believe... mine amazed me the first time I had it on a mountain road (only time I've ever made myself car sick)
leadguitarist05 4 years ago
these damn touge battles are useless... best motoring needs to do some instrumented tests with the driver as the control.
