He is so intelligent. I love his views on this topic. I don't just love him because he's absolutely gorgeous, but because he's child-like in a way, so free-spirited and caring, yet at the same time, he's so mature and so intellectual, he's just great <3
I was like, "Wow! Viggo is so smart and informed! - Hey! Peter Jackson's there too! - Anyways, Viggo is saying such intelligent, thoughtful things - Elijah Wood! You're here too??!"
I like this comment by paulianna1 about the 'waking from bed' voice, and indeed this advice about the Penn film which I am just about to watch. I actually only discovered Viggo Mortenssen two days ago, so I'm a little behind the rest of the world. It seems everyone else likes him too. Of course he's not really American is he, he's Swedish. I think he's Swedish. Somewhere Nordic and cold at any rate.
As Hobbes in Leviathan states, the condition of Man is that he is always in a state of warring against his fellow Man and will usurp and steal his assets in order to ensure his survival. It is obvious by the continuous need to wage war against other cultures that to quote George Orwell "All Men are not perceived as EQUAL to OTHERS which Vindicates Hobbes view that Man is in a perpetual state of WAR???????????????
@creat3d I totally agree. He is talking about very important political issues, and someone still only cares about how he looks. That's not what's important with this interview
I love this guy, Viggo I love you. Thank you for your candor, honesty and truth. You speak truth, nothing more nothing less. You are truly a humanitarian, passionate and compassionate and you express yourself so eloquently and get your point across. When you speak truth compassionately who can argue? Wow I am silenced, it is as if I had a voice only it was coming out of you. You are my spirit/soul brother!
The people of the Untied States of America have not only the right to question the government buearacracy when it fails to serve them - they have, under the Constitution, the obligation to do so.
To Generation XYY - (part 1) Keep in the mind the fact that the US is a war economy, as the country became prosperous right after the Great Depression by manufacturing weapons for the Second World War. The US has made millions and kept people employed by making weapons and therefore has needed constant wars abroad in order to do business as usual: Korea, Vietnam, Latin America, Somalia and the list goes on and on, and in none of these places have they put things right.
Part 2 - This does not mean America's people are bad, it means that the weapons industry has played an important role in supporting Presidents and in keeping the public ignorant of mass killings overseas. Iraq was in no way related to AlQuaeda before US intervention, Dick Cheney simply needed a campaign in order for his companies (Halliburton, Blackwater, etc) to make big bucks. Think of it.
part 3 - Obviously Viggo has, and this man has travelled the world and seen it from different points of view. Therefore artistic inclination does not stunt the brain, but backing the American government (I don't care which) 100% no matter what they do and considering it patriotic to do so, now THAT really stunts the brain.

12/13/09 BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Critics said the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq said was driven by oil, but United States oil majors were largely absent from an Iraqi auction of oil deals snapped up instead by Russian, Chinese and other firms.
What is it about artistic inclination that stunts the brain?
I watched this shortly after seeing the movie and these morons never got another penny form me, no great loss though LOTR and Tolkien sucks dogs ass anyways.
ummm... yeah, so please explain why it takes a foreigner to tell us that? (yes I know he's an american now, but he was born and raised in Denmark) definitely need a shirt like that!
viggo was born in new york , he says it him self on the letterman show.
he moved to Argentina with his family when he was 1 ( from the US where he was born , untill he was 11 ) where he later moved back to new york , viggo lived in Denmak , he was not born there.
You don't,that's not what I said. knowing right from wrong has nothing to do with being American. It's just that I would expect most adults to know right from wrong, and apparently some American adults do not. That's all.
What I like about this actor, is that he is not full of himself inspite of his talent and good looks (also artist, poet, multiple languages, versatile actor).
I wish I could meet him. He also speaks Spanish and lived in South America when he was young as I did. We would definetly hit it off.
This is so true. Because of these fking politicians at power, the entire country feels ashamed. Americans are really good and kind but not fking Bush gov. All major contracts at Iraq have gone to american firms ---- at cost of brave american solders and innocent ppl from Iraq and afghanistan. Sometimes can't believe how come ppl at america never stood against this terror act. I am in all support for Viggo.
he has such a sexy voice, like he's just waking from bed -- he seems so kind and thoughtful, and a really nice guy,but i love it when he plays a psycho,he can be really scary -- you wanna see him being evil, check out 'the indian runner',directed by sean penn,a brilliant film all around
the man is brilliant. this interview is what got me past his looks mostly and into his other stuff. he's soo intelligent and well spoken and passionate and temperate. I would love to just have a conversation with him. He is aware of sooo much
I love how Peter and Elijah just sit in there listening while Viggo does all the talking.
