I have a question. My oven is broken, and we don't have extra spending money for a new one. I have a counter-top oven from Costco, and use it for food. Can I bake clay (Premo brand) IN that counter-top oven? Will it ruin the oven?
Is it necessary to cover the pan with the clay using tin foil? Or it's okay already even if you don't put anything to cover it? Also, is the result the same if I use modeling clay instead of polymers? Thanks a lot. :)
Hahaha, it's funny that enough people asked you this question so many times that you had to make a video, and it's even funnier that it has so many views.
@GardenOfImagination about the burning, will it hit the smoke alarm. u see, i just moved to a new apartment and the smoke alarm is very sensitive, i tried frying eggs with the vent and it hit the smoke alarm lol.... but i really wanna make polymer clay charms x[
@iGuiGuixD Set a timer and try not to burn any clay as the fumes are toxic. If you do, open a window. ANY smoke can set off a smoke detector. Doesn't matter if it's food or clay, it will still go off.
I'm a n00b at polymer clay, and I made an average sized (or maybe a little larger) cupcake charm and baked it for about 15 minutes. Is that good, or should I bake it longer?
I think it should be baked for about an hour, because it's about an inch thick in diameter.
@GardenOfImagination but what will happen if u use the same toaster oven for food again becuz ive dun that many times. will it like poison the food or make it toxic? thnx for replying:) (if u do)
@talyor098123 You should check your particular type of clay for times and temps. Just remember that slow and low are the best ways to bake polymer clay. Also, a tin foil tent works well. Slice your watermelon before baking though.
@gardenofimagination hey I wad wondering where you went! Will there be any videos out soon? This was te last vid u posted and I still can't wait to see the finished lighthouse!
is it true that when you use your oven toaster as a baking oven for polymer clay, you are not suppose to use it for food anymore? or is it still safe as long as you dont burn it... ?

hi i used a tin foil tent and its still outside its been there for about an hour and it just made everything really really soft instead of hard....... how long is it supposed to be out there?
@lildancer280 Model magic is considered "paper clay" you don't need to bake it as if you let it dry at room temperature for a day or so it gets hard and doesn't take too much damage easily, if it gets wet, it reverts back to soft form unless you gesso, primer, or clear acrylic resin spray you can find at virtually any craft store. Premo, Fimo, or Sculpey have the 'bakeable' clays you're looking for. Sculpey actually has a 'starter' kit for their polymer clay and it has around 20 colors.
I'd love to put my oven outside during the summer. lol I am always using my oven even in the summer. But summer is over here so I can use it once again. =)

My problem is that if I set the temperature to 275 degrees as some clays indicates, my item will burn!
