Kanji doesn't KNOW she's a girl (this early), but he is attracted to her, hence the large source of his confusion. Outside of the ordeal with naoto, kanji is just scared of being rejected (Women more so than men), so he tends to act more "homosexual" which could just be classified as being bromantic.

I think you two are clearly overlooking the bit where Kanji flatly says "I'm just scared shitless of being rejected." It isn't something of ambiguity; it's quite explicit.

Umm... I am not gay and I most definitely DO NOT like yaoi. But gay are people as well and I say they are strong because they have to hold out against laws and people that hate gays.
