  • Nice. My screen is getting a dark spot on it and it looks like I'll have to hook up an externasl monitor.

  • when i plug in the monitor and right click the option "graphic options" is not there can anyone tell me why?

  • Turn on Acer Aspire One external monitor with Ctrl-Alt-F3 go back to Laptop monitor w/ Ctrl-Alt-F1

  • I downloaded an application called Corel motions studio but when I open it-it needs big screen so do you think will work :) if yes thanks and nice video for me

  • when I do exactly as you do in the video my 24 inch widescreen monitor displays a crappy-looking square screen of about 1200x1600. I can't raise the resolution; it's already set at 1080x1900. All my drivers are up to date so what could be the problem? Even more weirdly, it sometimes does display full 1080x1900.

  • Niiice man straight to the point awesome

  • what cables are needed in order to work?!?!

  • Just want to share something...

I have an acer aspire one with a cracked screen where I cant see anything on it. So I wanted to connect it to a monitor but it was impossible for me to see the screen to right click it and switch it over

So after doing some searching on google I found out you can alternatively press alt+ctrl+F1 to get the computer to display on the monitor...I hope this helps anyone with the same problem as me

  • cheers man ur a life saver

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been searching for an answer to this for hours.

  • Thanks! I had a broken screen and needed to know how to blindly switch it to external monitor. Thanks to your demonstration I was able to right click on the desktop, press down on the keyboard 6 times, tap right 2 times and hit enter and it worked :)

  • good thinking there hahaha

  • i did that but didnt work

  • yeah sure or you could just tap, ctrl-alt and F1

  • @akel777 Lol i have that same problem and i really need to fix mines

  • @akel777 mine didnt work..its acer aspire one AO751H..

  • thanks you thank you thank you thank you

  • is it bad to leave the AA1 on the external monitor continuously?

    if not how long max?

  • when i plug in my extended monitor to my laptop it works. but everytime i anything on the laptop (like type something or touch the touch pad) the extended monitor turns of for a few secs until i stoped typing or pressing nething on the laptop.

any ideas or suggestion on how to prevent this from happening. any help would be much appreciated. thaanks its really annoying

  • I just spent an hour or so trying to run my desktop monitor off the netbook. Searching the internet forums and playing with the display settings in control panel etc.. I found your video and sucess was only a few mouse clicks away !! Much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to post your video, guys like you represent the best of you tube, IMO.

  • Thank you so much for this information!!!

  • is the resolution the only thing i have to adjust?

can i close the laptop and work without a problem?

do i just plug the vga port straight in, or is there other things i need to do?

  • My Acer screen cracked and I'm trying to get the image to my big monitor. However, I can't see what i'm doing on my ACER. Is this any shortcut I can use?

  • I have the same problem, any ideas??? Have you found any solutions yourself?

  • cracked?, how?

i mean this is an LCD monitor, plz tell me how it cracked so i dont make the same mistake

u cant see me, my time is now!!

  • This outputs to full 1920x1080 right?

  • I have found that if I close the lid on the Aspire One while viewing the external monitor, the CPU usage shoots up to %90 due to the process named "system". If I open the lid, the usage drops back down to less than 5%. Any explanation for this? Does your setup result in the same behavior?

  • The solution to this problem is to download the latest bios update from Acer and flash the bios. For the D150, this is version 1.09. No problem encountered just double clicking the executable file within Windows XP Home. Bios is flashed and computer reboots automatically.

  • a bios update fixed this for me! :) v1.10

  • How so you make the monitor so you can drag stuff over onto it? Mine just makes a duplicate display like the video.

  • how do you connect the netbook to monitor?

    usb?

  • You can use the vga port.

  • This is a perfect vid. I cannot thank you enough...my tower is off to the repair shop and this is saving my life. Thank you Thank you Thank you

  • How good is the projected image of the Acer on the big monitor? Is it sharp enough? Can one use a VGA-Out for working (surfing, writing, movies) ?

How about playing 720 HD stuff via an VGA-Out?

In your vid the quality looks great, i wonder how much better a digital video output (HDMI etc.) is compared to a VGA-Out of a netbook.

What graphic card has this Acer? GMA 950 or GMA 945, etc.?

    Thank you very much!

  • Fantastic! I just set up our Acer with our Dell monitor, thanks to your two videos. We couldn't be more pleased!

  • thanks! this just helped me so much!

  • thanks so much just installed my 19 inch on the acer, this was a major help!!!

  • Thanks for the help. You explained this very well and probably saved me from sending back the 19-inch widescreen I just bought to use with my Acer Aspire One. I was trying the traditional settings and it didn't work there. Thanks again!!

  • Next time please use a tripod, a table, or anything to hold the camera steady. I had to stop watching because the constant small motions were making me woozy.

  • Thanks for this vid - I totally missed the right-click option.

  • These aren't instructions about how to set up an external monitor; these are merely instructions detailing how to change the display options. Incorrect title.
