  • Toca como los dioses, no en vano tantos artistas eligieron a este excelente guitarrista para la grabacion de sus trabajos!!!

  • That's what a guitar FOR!!!

  • In the early 80's,He tinkered in a band called Dog Cheese, Which included Vinnie Coliauta.............Rock Fusion Slammin stuff!

  • Scott henderson send me here.. He said this was the guitar with the ultimate tone.. Guess he was right!

  • Man this is killer!!

  • Ive got to learn how to do that at 2:46. cool as f+ck!

  • One of my favorite Guitarist. He appears in Richard Marx album and a high school bandmate of Steve Lukather. A prolific session musician in the 80's and 90's

  • inimitable sound!!! my favorite guitarist ever!!!!!!

  • @wildcatp7

don't agree!...ever hear of eric johnson?

  • @vracan Of course, but a lot of us love Landau's tone and playing.

  • awesome playing, wow!! I've just uploaded a backing track with the same chord sequence as Landau's Johnny Swing...come jam!

  • I first became aware of him ages ago when I heard his beautiful solo on Eros Ramazzotti's 'In ogni senso'

  • Karlsruhe, that's my town and where i left my beautiful angel girl-one love...... always on my mind......

  • So many followed......Some have the skill,... but none have the heart.....

Unbelievable! This guy is touched by the hand of God!!!

  • So many followed......Some have the skill,... but none have the heart.....

  • I wish that Burning Water come back!

  • Satriani brings you somewhere,Eric Johnson, somewhere else;etc....

where MLandau brings me is faaaaaaar away ;where i feel really the place i want to be

  • Man this sh*t is f*cking amazing!!

  • SAYTA H W N! Yeah!!!!!!!

  • Wicked, Mike is a finger picker! I never knew that!

2:48 - 2:50 I have to have that?!?!?!?! How does he do it?

  • @CircleCityEric it's hammer on/pull offs with left hand and lightly running your flesh down the strings with the right hand. Don't take your right hand off, just glide it down. Try it with left hand frets 5,3,0,5,3,0 etc... Works best on the bass strings.

  • @GuitarSlinger2112 Wow, thanks! That's boggled my mind first since I heard a track by this band I played with (members of anyway) in Indianapolis called Rok Hollywood - then the Janet Jackson #1 "Black Cat." Nice to know how it's done.

  • @CircleCityEric

  • Wow !

  • molto Jeff Beck ;)

  • what's the name of this song? I wanna learn it

  • @LazyHammond91 It's "I'm Buzzed" from the "Tales From the Bulge" album. Also featured on "Live 2000" album.

  • I wìsaw him tonight in italy.. simply amazing..greatest tone I've ever heard live

  • @LazyHammond91 Which show where you at?

I had a booking for the one in Milan, but I missed my plane check-in by 3 minutes so no Michael Landau for me this year :(

  • @maksmail a show in a pub near venice.. it's called "la fornace"

  • Is that Gary Novak on drums?

  • @vinniebourne yup, that's him

  • @vinniebourne yes

  • @vinniebourne yes!

  • whatever IT is... landau has IT.... awesome player

  • ..and on the seventh day God created Michael Landau

  • @littlefuzzer ...might have taken two days.

  • the best burning

  • Man this guy knows how to lick some axe.

  • what tecnique used in the 2:47 ??? anyone know???

  • what technique used in the 2:47 ,, anyone know????

  • @samdan20 pull offs like this work easy with a pick slide... he's just using his nail as the hard slider point and hammering/pulling off and producing the harmonics...

  • Long live Wayne Krantz...

  • EVH lick from "Somebody Get me A Doctor!"

  • Amazing styles of rock

  • Jeff Beck Docet?

  • dangerous...........

  • this is the cat ...

  • What steve and scott meant is that michael landau is one of the so amazingly rare one shot guitarist of the world.

PLayed over 15,000 albums becuase when you pay your studio bill it costs your house, and with michael, you pay his flight ticket, tells him what you wnat, and in one shot, your record is done. cheaper than playing yourself. Sounds "cheating" but if you play yurelf live, you don't loose your pride :D

  • good tip

  • Guitarists...come watch this guy and learn.

  • damn, wish the vid had the whole jam on it!!!- there's a clip from 4-4-08 ,berlin, that has a more complete version......... but shit, michael was just hittin' his groove when vid ran out........same tune, each with different ideas.....mike is a BAAD dude ! ! ! !

  • este es el idolo de gustavo

  • how is this thing ^^ called he does on 2:50 ?

  • its what you call very groovy harmonics haha, check out Greg Koch, he's great at it

  • you just hammer on/pull of and run either your pick or right hand up the strings along the neck at the same time, automatically alternating between muted sounds and overtones. Usually works best on the deeper strings but it all depends on the guitar and overall sound. Obviously distortion is needed for full effect, although it can be done without for a different feel.

  • Someone knows the name of the song?

uhmm probably is not recorded yet on an album :-(

  • Yes it is, it's called "Im buzzed"

  • It's from his album "Tales From The Bulge"...

  • Partied with Mike numerous times, he's simply STELLAR live and one of THEE greatest guitarists ON EARTH..............period.

  • Gary Novak - greatest drummer breaking all the rules, he is behind all

  • reminds me of a wayne krantz tune

  • drummer!

  • Ok Gary Novak

  • Is it Dom Famularo on trums??

  • Great tone.

  • like it!

  • Ever heard of an English player called Ollie Halsall .. another true original .. sadly no more with us .. totally unique .. never listened to guitarists for the same reason .

  • incredible guitar player, i never heard something like this, maybe jeff beck but they play some kind of different, who knows some others guitar players with this style?

  • Scott Henderson, Alan Holdsworth.

  • Buzz has a new album just out ( in Japan so far ) with Brandon Fields guesting . Its absolutely wonderful .. Buzz is as stunning as ever .. its a pure treat . Pls tell all your music loving friends to go out and get it . Buzz deserves our support .. his talent is unique and he is too oft overlooked .

  • Wayne Krantz plays in that vein as well

  • Im a big WK fan too .. another player with his own voice .

  • absolutely! i've seen him a couple of times here in Chicago. He's awesome. He said in an interview that spend a year without listening to any other guitarists just to find his voice. HE's brilliant!

  • yea this is serious guitar the fingers are insane and the tone is unbelievable

  • COOL

  • Amazing guitar. One of the best I've ever heard.

  • What a beautiful tone!

  • ..

This man's fretting hand is jaw-droppingly incredible.

  • He is awesome ... i saw him in Czech ...

  • XLNT!!!

  • I love this song.. wow~!! Powerful!!

  • Yes, the piece as you know is I'm Buzzed . The Buzz in question is the one and only Buzz Feiten .. THE GREAT unsung Buzz .. a true original .

MIke L's tone and touch is superb !

  • Is that Adam Nussbaum on drums?

  • It is Gary Novak

  • where henderson would go off in scatty bepop lines, landau stays a little more 'riff' based. one can tell where he ends a thought, breathes, and starts afresh. god, what am i talking? SUCH FLOW!!!!

  • MAGICCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:48 FUCKING SWEET

  • Any idea what's going on there? I'd love to borrow it..

  • My last comment was supposed to be a reply to a comment made three pages ago.. anyway, the part that has me bewildered is that weird little harmonic/hammer/trill thing he whips out at 2.38. Anyone got any clues?

  • Er..2.48, actually..

  • It's an old EVH trick. Do anything similar to what he does with the left hand (it actually doesn't have to be with open strings, but it's easier) while your right hand presses lightly on the string (with the same touch you would use for an open-string harmonic with you left hand). Try the side of your thumb that faces the guitar. As you hammer/pull, you'll create artificial harmonics. Changing the position of your right hand (watch his) produces different harmonics. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks dude, it all makes sense. Mike's apparent (but irrelevant) pick position had me bamboozled. I guess he had to dangle it somewhere.. of course, the rest of the song's a piece of cake..hmm..

  • good beck influenced soloing.

  • The Best Guitar Player in the world,my great inspiration!Thanx Mike bless U !

  • Go Mikey! Kickin everybody's ass.

    He's sooo unique. TONE monster!

  • Он гений... друзья !!!

  • mike has two guitars, one is in his brain and one is in his hands.total guitar !

  • Hi, Thanks alot for posting this Great clip.I really love the Music & playing. Gary Novak, whose playing Drums in this group is

a friend & I allways love what he does! Best Regards from London, Ollie Usiskin

  • Yep, I here Holdsworth also, when he runs feestyle its more in place for me than Holdsworth, because of the high energy choice of his notes , but niether are predictable, his tone is felt well, I love this cats music.

  • God, hes really changed. Wouldnt have recognised him!

  • Is this the Michael landau who was in Boz Scaggs band?

  • he was awhile back. also James Taylor,Joni Mitchell,Raging Honkies,Burning Water.

  • yeah..he's played with hundreds of people and had a whole career since then.

  • Double Yeaaaaaa!!!

  • Yeaaaaaa!!!

  • Wow!Really great stuff. Some of the comments about this(not all of them)make me embarrassed to be a guitar player. All this stuff about the best thumb and fingers in the world and the best player alive today is such shit. Why would someone feel the need to have a best anything? Can't people just listen and love it?This kind of talk makes me forget why I love music and guitar playing so much.Dan

  • I like this performance!

    very very good!

  • this his "I'm Buzzed" from his debut album

  • Buzz Feitened .. for it is that Buzz to whom Mike refers . A monster of the guitar .

Mike is just wonderful . what a joy !

  • Mike has the best thumb and fingers tone in the world. His beautiful control of the open strings and tone..........Amazing.

  • Jeff Beck, Scott Henderson and Michael Landau are like the Acid Family! Beautiful sound!!! and taste!

  • My mommy told me there was no such thing as monsters SHE LIED!!!!Jeff Beck, Scott Henderson and Michael Landau, more than a treat.

  • the trinity of guitar sounds!

  • Eric Johnson

  • Yes, Eric Johnson + balls + Jeff Beck = Michael Landau

  • He is great, but doesn't remind me of Eric or Beck. This kind of guitar talk makes me wish I played piano instead of guitar.Dan

  • why don't you take up both?

  • @lookxpress So right!! And the sound!

  • @lookxpress + hendrix

  • @lookxpress sorry dude i know you let this comment ages ago but if there's Jeff Beck in the equation, balls don't even need to be mentioned ;)

  • It's Gary Novak on drums...

  • the best guitarist alive today by a long long way....

  • come on man? how about lukather and gilbert not forgetting Carl Verheyen. There are still some amazing guitarists around today

  • I'm a huge Luke fan also and I'm seeing Verheyen next Sunday... but Landau has something very special in his playing... don't know what it is but I love it...

  • this is how people try to play guitar like

  • looks like adam nussbaum on drums

  • wow cool shit. and loud! a strat with no pick and some whammy may sound a bit beckish but this is nice. and he's only using the bridge humbucker, like holdsworth did all over the 1st IOU album. yeah yeah yeah

  • It's a Suhr guitar, not a Strat.

  • same difference

  • men..he has a signature!

  • Please teach a title of this music.

  • "I'm Buzzed." Good version on Landau's Live 2000 disc.

  • Thank you for teaching it.

  • that's dom famularo on the drums?

  • Gary Novak.

  • Michael Landau is such a player. Total tonal control, beautiful phrasing, so in command of the instrument.

Some of the newer "so called" shredders or wannabies should learn from this guy, as professional and dedicated as you can get.

  • killer playing... wish i could hear the bass...

  • I saw this video yesterday and I couldn't get over that overdrive sound he has there, man the tone is good, great video love how up close it is. thank you for making this avalible to all.

  • This is just a pure pleasure to hear him, the continuity of his phrases ... his ideas ... of course this music doesn't touch everyone but whaou !

  • that guy is a fuckin monster!

  • Thanks for the clip, mike just gets better and better... the palying is so thoroughly MUSICAL! Just love it :-) Hope there'll be a dvd out from this tour.

  • I'm totally buzzed! :)

  • 01:30 = best part! and what the hell does he do at 02:48? :O

  • u pull off with 3 fingers (5-4-2) and while doing that u slide with your right hand over the string u are playing on and move to your left hand (dont mute the string!)

    ;)

  • awesome, thanks! ;)

  • :) very nice if u got it!

    otherwise ask!^^

    cheers!

  • It's cool, i got it :P
